[X] Plan Clearing Our Plate to Prepare for War
-[X] Accept offers of assistance from ORDI nations (Pyrric Rabies Vaccine costs 0.1 Research points)
-[X] Stage Border Incident (Pact) [Medium]: Using our agents in the Prospero Pact's military, we can stage an incident at their border with Republic camps to inflame tensions and justify reprisals.
-[X] Buy New Oslo, or as much of it as possible, as outlined here
-[X] Infiltrate Rockwellawan Society: Infiltrating Rockwellawan's society will allow us to carry out subversive activities.
-[X] Claim all uninhabited areas, and begin/prepare to colonize New Oslo
-[X] Auction Decommissioned Cruisers (Driveless) in a private auction among the ORDI nations
-[X] Joint Research Program Groundwork: Having already developed close business ties with the Aurigan Coalition's industrial centres, now is the time to grow those bonds into something meaningful. While it's too soon to approach the Coalition with the idea of a joint research program, efforts can be made towards laying the groundwork… [Progress: 1/2 turns]
-[X] Annex Tiverton (-5 influence): By deploying numerous civil, military, and diplomatic resources, the Republic should be able to annex the system of Tiverton with minimal protest from our neighbours. [Progress: 0/2 turns] [Action Point Locked Until Completed]
-[X] Colonize Charybdis [Progress: 461,342/500,000] [Action Point Locked Until Completed]
-[X] Survey Helghan for Additional Petrusite Deposits: With the news that Petrusite deposits will eventually regenerate, now is the time to resurvey old mining sites and look for new ones. [Progress: 1/5 turns] [Action Point Locked Until Completed]

-[X] Target Smuggler Network: We cannot allow Helghan military equipment to be stolen and sold to the highest bidder by criminals. As such, we should make the destruction of this network a priority. [Progress: 3/???]
-[X] Construct two Battlemech Battalions: Task Zulim Taw with constructing two battalions worth of mechs.
-[X] MAWLR Redesign: Order your design teams to redesign the MAWLR to make use of the latest technological advancements.

-[X] HDC 'Ursus' Squad Cannon: Developed by the Helghan Defence Corporation out of Bloemfontein, the Ursus Squad Cannon is a gyro-stabilised semi-automatic recoilless-rifle designed specifically for use by power armour equipped soldiers. Firing a 60mm shell at 400m/s, the Ursus substantially increases the already considerable AT firepower of power armour troopers.

My thoughts are that with New Oslo, the Smugglers, the Rabies Virus, and Caliban, we're not ready for war yet.

We need to clear whats on our plate first

Dude, KF drives will take at minimum 5 turns, more likely its going to take 8 to 10 given its literally the FTL drive of the setting, we don't have time to wait on that, this is more a NATO meeting, we will have more of them down the line.
Yes we know it's a long research Item which was why the original plan was once we got our hands on a jumpship we were going research KF-drives as it is currently the first turn of research would be if involved ORDI would be 139% with it being 1.29 at minimum for the every turn since. But I know that won't convince you as this has been a running debate since we got the dropship.

So here is my question how many turns are you willing to kick the can on KF-drive research like we had been doing with the Petrusite Surveys?

I don't think any other plan is updating the mawler
We get 3 mawlers when we build them, so after updating them we can easily redistribute them to important worlds

Personally I've just been waiting for double heat sinks to finish before updating the MAWLR.
Makes sense

==========================================

So it occurs to me that the Celestial Mandate may have bigger enemies than us, and Romano Liao may not be the only one who wants the old Confederation back together again. Making contact with the Capellan Conferation publicly and even just acting friendly will force the Mandate to consider what happens if what little forces they have get tied down on the other border. Of course we need to make contact with the Mandate as well in order to express our publics anger at what appears to be a black ops team carrying out a biological attack (still convinced this Com*), but we don't really have the desire to carry out an offensive war at the moment (raiding is an option and a tried and true IS tradition though...).

Now the truly controversial part. Selling our workhorse cruisers with the drives intact. First I would like to point out the days where the only advantage we had was our unique warp drive and out interstellar means of communication is over. We are technologically advanced with mechs and warships and more importantly allies. Allies that we are slowly sharing out tech with, and are equally intertwining our culture too. The cruisers with their drives represent a means to quickly respond to threats as well as a means of quick transportation of forces. The Taurians have always been afraid/hostile to the Federated Suns any advantage over their hated enemy will always garner goodwill. The Aurigans and the Canopians have always been threated by outsiders and even now Aurigans are eyeing their neighbor warily. These ships with their drives will help them far more than without.

Also, they do indeed represent a means for outsiders to reverse engineer our warp drive. The basic version that is (you'll noticed that I've chosen to research the improved version). I don't believe this is a bad thing, and in fact I believe that we would eventually vote to give our allies this tech eventually anyways. It creats too big a difference in our military doctrines and have already been the cause of Helghans arriving to a battlefield well before our allies and suffering for it. Will it spread beyond our allies borders? Probably, in time it will, but I don't think we'll see any enemy warships warping to our planets for several decades yet, and by that time we should be more than able to defend our worlds.

Oh, I also threw in Coyote's tank into the requisitions because I didn't have anything else and Coyote's been trying really passionately to get something accepted.

Thanks and no problems. This is actually the first plan in any quest I've ever submitted, so I appreciate people pointing out anything I did wrong.

[X] Plan Conference Call against the World.

It is the best one for our current goals. Also selling driveless ships to the ORDI is the biggest slap in the face we can do. They don't need them for firepower they need them for transport of more military units. So that the rest of the jumpship fleets can concentrate on improving the economy. It also allow tactical and strategic movement together. The conference can be used to set up a lot of actions without having to waste more time and AP on them. Everything from selling ships, to getting the research agreements done, to joint medical projects which the MoC wants.

Also on the whole vaccine thing. No it will not take a research slot at all. The only reason the other option before cost a slot was because it was literally development of the stuff from the ground up. This thing will literally only cost a fraction of a point as in the progress of another project will have that point subtracted.

That's... Weird. You'd think that moving a few thousand tons of raw materials wouldn't take the attention of an interstellar polity.

Regardless, what's the target number for Mech units to attach to our Armies? Two or three per?
Each Division gets a LCT style mech force as part of the make up. But it isn't a major concern right now.

short term/mid term we need at least one battlion per divison so we will need at least 30. long term we should shoot for 3 per divsion to help intimidate the Great houses. They measure military might by the number of mechs you have so being able to say we have the equilvient of 30 reinforced regiments is enough to keep everyone on a hands off policy (the cappies had 45 at the height of their power)

It looks like Plan Methodical is winning.

Guess we're not going to do anything about the Epidemic then. . .
It was not explicitly said a Research Team was needed, like the Mir Blight did, and the actual attack/spread was already contained by the last event post. So unless prometheus rules otherwise, it seems that Advent might possibly be right in that it will just happen.

It's stated that it costs .2 research to get a vaccine with Ordi help.

That sounds pretty explicit to me.

@prometheus110 can we get a confirmation?

To my understanding, we are. So let's ask the GM whether a research slot is required for the vaccine or not, because if it is, the vaccine obviously has priority.

@prometheus110
If we accept help from the ORDI nations for the vaccine, do we need to dedicate a research slot to it?
Also, can a conference between the ORDI nations be done with one action point, or do we need multiple.

No we still need to take an option because of we don't it means we do nothing about it. My point is that it will not take slot but cost points from a research project already being done. But we still need to choose one of the options to know how much it will take.

I made it a research item so that you'd have to use a research slot to get it. I should have explained more clearly, my bad.

That said, you can list vaccine research and then another thing in the same slot just this once since it'll make things easier.

Thanks.

When you say list it in the same slot, do you mean like this: --[X] Accept offers of assistance from ORDI nations (Pyrric Rabies Vaccine costs 0.1 Research points) / The Corinth Project [0.4/--]

If so, it's been edited into the plan.

I mean, if it comes to a conflict with another power, be it the Mandate or someone else, we do still have the absolute ultimate trump card in the form of the Terracide being available. Big stompy mechs are great and all, but being able to literally turn any planet with an atmosphere into a ball of irradiated death from orbit puts a pretty big fucking hamper on that.
