We can put points into Fuinjutsu, ninjutsu and swordsmanship.
We cant put points into esoteric Sharingan skills. Sharingan control of tailed beasts and tailed beast energy is an esoteric sharingan skill.

Furthermore, genjutsu is one of our weakest skills. And yet its plot-critical.

The Eye of the Moon Plan is a widescale genjutsu plot.
The Kurama sideplot is a genjutsu thing.
One of Kabuto's endgame upgrades is a genjutsu mod that fucked up even Itachi.
Danzo's stolen Sharingan is a mindhack genjutsu eye.

We need all the help we can get with our genjutsu or we run the risk of being removed from play like that.

We can also put points in Genjutsu, though?

Genjutsu: 78 [B-Rank]
  • Basic Genjutsu: 50 [C-Rank]
  • Sharingan Genjutsu: 70 [B-Rank]

Sharingan Genjutsu specifically, even.

Besides, it's just as easy to say we need sealing or sword skills to not be removed from pay via shenanigans or more directly physical confrontation.

I'd just recommend that people go for what they like the most and not try to frame the narrative as 'we NEED this or we'll die horribly'.

We dont though.
Its not one of our core focuses, and yet its important. We'll always put points into fuinjutsu and swordsmanship and ninjutsu because they're part of our core build. Genjutsu is a hard sell because its more situational. Hence the need for a crutch there.

Furthermore, the Last Daughter perk also addresses esoteric Sharingan skills. Skills like Sasuke suppressing Naruto's channeling Kyuubi energy back in the beginning of Part II, or Tobi controlling the Kyuubi via some sort of contract after yanking it out of Kushina?
Dont seem to fall under Sharingan genjutsu, and yet are Sharingan skills.

As much as I agree with this point, I don't agree with your overall post.

Arguments like this in quests don't pan out. You cannot guarantee future placement of points unless you're getting them from omakes because of the nature of voting leads to the arguments having no substance to them.

We want something, we need to vote for it at the time it comes up because there's not guarantee it'll come up again or that people will vote for it if it does.

Im for: Vote for things that you cannot improve in other ways.
Do not monofocus.
That way lies tears and recriminations.

[X] The Last Daughter of the Uchiha: Hisana is known for her status as the de-facto head of the Uchiha clan. Improves Hisana's abilities with esoteric Sharingan skills (genjutsu, etc.)

We are in no danger of monofocus, Hisana has a more wide and varied skillset than damn near any ninja we see in canon.

We don't need to be the best at everything ourself, we have both a team and an entire village for that.

From the canon omakes, Sasuke is already heavily focused into Sharingan Genjutsu, so it's perfectly fine for Hisana to merely be 'good' at it.

"And on the subject of promotions - this brat here probably knows more about personal seals than anyone else in the village. So I think it's only fair that we make her a special jounin,"

Don't know if this has been discussed before, but Special Jonin is not a standard rank. It's 'This person will never be good enough to be a Jonin, but they're pretty damn good at one thing and we should recognise that.

It's a dead-end rank, you cannot be promoted from Special Jonin.

I... Don't think that's true?

It's more 'generally Chunin level but Jounin in their specialty', I don't recall anything about it being a complete dead end.

And regardless, that's clearly not how is being used here.

Not in canon; at least, we certainly never see that stated. And certainly not in this quest.

I mean, I'm totally down for training our genjutsu up to par if we get the chance to, but using a slot for a very rare skill multiplier perk on a skill that we rarely focus on is just a complete waste. Bring it up next time we get a chance to train genjutsu.

While I really want Crimson Sealmistress for the title as a point of pride for the character and her hard work, realistically speaking, Daughter is the best choice. Improves a lagging skill and misinforms her enemies about her skill set.

I usually only vote in QQ. Is approval voting in effect here, where you can vote for more than one option?
