Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
The real dealbreaker for me is seeing less of our friends than we already do. When was the last time LQ and Li Suyin hung out on screen? When have the two of them and Su Ling last chilled together? We see little of them as it is. I know getting Meizhen on the diplo mission is possible and maybe we can Su Ling on board... but what about our other friends? We've already said goodbye to Xulian. We only just started getting to know Xuan Shi. So...

[X] Remain in your current place and maintain your current goals.

I thought we would get more time to decide rather than the very next update. We have been given no good reasons to stay. Approval voting to show that I dislike having to make this choice with the options presented as they were.

[X] Take a central role in diplomacy with the White Sky
[X] Remain in your current place and maintain your current goals.

I can already here the mean girl whispers.

Far from diadaining the results of the intersect tourney, I'm personally really invested in the negative consequences. No one looks down on Ling Qi anymore, or at least not to her face. She's had too much good fortune, too many martial accomplishments and made too many important connections.

Take her out of the limelight for a while and then let people forget and then BAM! Whallop em with a diplomacy forged in the frozen and unforgiving tundra.

Probably not exactly how it will go, but anthropologists tend to report a 'stranger im a strange land' at first when doing fieldwork in foreign places, only for it to be replaced by 'stranger in my own strange land' type feeling when they return home and I am all about that plus a wuxia scramble for power and prestige.

I've come to this quest after having caught up with the edited version on Royal Road. I felt that the climax of the first novel and the hook for the next was Shenua's challenge to her daughter and Ling Qi to achieve a certain sect rank and win the intersect tournament before their time in the sect is over. While ok for a quest (and certainly true to life!) to abandon these goals, it feels like a bait and switch and would harm the narrative structure av the story as novels. While I enjoy the story and will continue to read regardless of the path chosen, I feel strongly enough about this to register and vote:

[X] Remain in your current place and maintain your current goals.

This is a chance to take the lead in something real. The Sect offers many great opportunities, but we'll always be still at Hogwarts while there.

Like I said before, liked the white sky plotline. Didn't like it enough to refocus the entire quest around the white sky plotline.

We only just started getting to know Xuan Shi.
TBF, Xuan Shi is probably one of the most likely candidates that we can poach from the sect. He doesn't have large ties to the sect, and seems to have an interest in foreigners along with the rest of the clan. His clan also wants him to have a connection with us and Zhengui so I wouldn't doubt that they would approve him joining. Plus, we will be leaving the sect 8 months later anyways so we'll have to say goodbye to our sect friends no matter what.

Forgot the "X".

Priorities:
Get Meizhen involved.
Try to recruit Su Ling.
Do anything we can't do after we leave.

Also try to recruit Bao Qingling.

A spider for our favorite snake ...

Joking aside, I think Bao Qingling may be very interested in getting further away from the annoying nobles and will most likely be very interested in the Ice Witch cultivation method stuff ... (we already know that she suffers from some peculiar physical afflictions)

When it comes to the auction, I wonder if we can trade the Genealogy tome to the Meng. Maybe we'll even get a copy of Grandmistress Lei's works!

As for the vote, I'm torn between getting a headstart on creating our own fief so we can perhaps make it a trading hub with the Ice people. Otoh, getting to see and interact with other high nobles from Emerald Seas and the rest of the nation seems super enticing, especially since we'll be creating our fief eventually no matter what.
