The decision would be Roswita's (or her successor), though Mathilde would likely be able to influence that decision to an extent.
Cool, i was thinking of passing it of to Kasmir if we ever solve lots of the problems in Slyvania and so he can do his swamp god project even if it's unlikely we'll ever finish up all of sylvania in our life time, getting rid of the big nasties for regular dudes like Kasmir and his fold to deal with the rest was my ideal.

I have zero interest in Markgraf. Whacking a shitload of land into compliance is going to absolutely eat up our time. No clear deadline because let's face it, Sylvania is always going to be at least slightly haunted.

At least with Border Princess we'd own the kingdom by the end of it.

It absolutely is. It's being an Elector Count minus the vote, and I am supremely uninterested in it.
Ehhh... it's ruling the territory, sure, but our sole overriding concern is purging the area of vampiric influence. We explicitly don't have to give more than the barest of considerations to any other part of the traditional rulership portfolio - Roswita doesn't care if we fail to even keep it organised enough to pay taxes except in that it would affect our ability to find vampires.

We'll probably do a little bit of "make sure people aren't starving too much" or whatever, but it'd be a lot more martial- and intrigue- based.

that's edgelord he was talking about... which I'm pretty sure is the border princess option. Not anything in sylvania.

I'm fine either with Markgraf or Tutor option. I'd prefer Tutor more due to more varied shenanigans we can get into instead of just vampires and necromancers. But it has fallen quite behind in votes

Ah, so now the Markgraf votes materialize. From fourth to first after Waystones have been leading all day.

I'm not sure which I'll support if it ends up being between Markgraf and Waystones.

One interesting thing to note is that no option has a majority, with each being under 50% of the vote count.

I think it's pretty unlikely the initial waystone cooperation gathering phase will boil down to something like a long series of conferences where we try to make people get along or similar as some people have proposed. Seems more likely to me that the Ice Witch paradigm is the more likely one we'd default to if they were willing in principle to get on board. Basically some term or other that would be fulfilled by Mathilde in a more dynamic way as opposed to just trying to scrounge up some gold to pay them with.

it isn't, I cant find it @picklepikkl ? but boney said that we will largely be focusing on fighting the vampires. its the Count option that's about ruling.

@BoneyM , could we get some clarity here on what the Markgraf option will entail?

Sylvania is obviously in a pretty sorry state right now and in no position to get involved in courtly politics, but my understanding is that we're still expected to go make sure that all the relevant nobles are behaving, make sure the peasants aren't all immediately starving, fund and direct Kasmir's religious initiatives, etc etc, not just operate a base to go kill vampires from.

Roswita laid out her priorities and expectations. Anything beyond that is up to Mathilde.

Yeah, but a huge proportion of making it so the populace find vampires an unappealing alternative is going to require building the place up. Simply cracking down with the stick will not change the basic conditions that make some of them find vampire rule more appealing. The aspect of building the carrot to tempt them with will involve a good bit of traditional rulership actions.

Taking over the rulership of Sylvania is basically becoming a military governor of an occupied territory. It's not going to be fighting vampires with sword and spell in hand (although I'm sure there will be plenty of that) it is about managing the territory so that it doesn't fall back into Vampire hands. It involves dealing with all the politics of the nobles of Sylvania, trying to establish an actual economy (although this isn't a priority), and converting the populace to an anti-vampire faith. Along with martial and intrigue options. Becoming count just means we can pass on the title. It's not going to be a bog standard CKII quest, but it's pretty much the closest out of all the options since we will need to develop a council to aid us in these areas.

Becoming the Tutor and volunteering our aid with Sylania is the direct martial/intrigue way to fight the Vampires on a personal level.

Well, traditional rulership actions, or actions to convince the actual lords and ladies of the land to take them, and not treat the peasants like crap. Because at least some of them are certain to try it.
