I feel like taking this slowly is the best bet. I think it's safe to think they won't join the war against us, so we're not in a hurry to get any alliances or treaties. Let both sides get used to the idea of each other and learn about everyone's culture. Let us come up with something more official and well planned than an ad-hoc personnel switch once we're both sure we won't accidentally insult each other.

Yea it is pretty easy to see why the Argent Sect losing their successor to Yuan He is a big deal when he can use a random 3rd realm spirit beast to drop a 7th realm attack from way outside the battlefield. Also Zhengui has a interesting definition for his friends being nice.

This helps patch over immediate problems, but the mustering of loads of Cloud Nomads is liable to keep them busy regardless for anything except the short-term. Admittedly I'd expect nobility of the Empire to be perfectly capable of complaining about the lack of adherence to 'tradition' while holding formation, which they'd probably call a traditional marching song.

Yes in a vacuum there might be a hypothetical where Ling Qi is able to monopolize Ice Ladies stuff, but the reality that is a massive mustering of Cloud Nomads that any serious practical results like say trade will need to have sufficient backing to run a gauntlet of hostile CN within the Wall. Furthermore there is a loss of opportunity for not doing it while CRX/LQ are at the inter-sect tournament following a Cai/Bai alliance that will attended by basically any clan with a sufficient excuse to do so.

Besides Ling Qi's IC goal is to reduce the casualty list, and both groups having someone with lengthy exposure to the other group seems like it would go a long ways toward persuading them to take what will amount to a not insignificant risk in the middle of a war.

So time for Ling Qi to step out into open air, and take the plunge with only her wits to catch herself before she hits the bottom, which is what you need to do when trying to bend the world to your own ends.

I'm not concerned with hoarding the white skies diplomatic efforts, so what if the meng get more credit and stir the political climate in ES?
That's FUN!!
Another meng representative can shelter the diplomat while we can drop by and visit at our leisure, nobody said we specifically had to shelter them coming back.

Also... the sect is losing a lot of its elder power in this war.

Why would we want to shake things up? The situation is already messy enough as it is, with the sect losing its leader without managing to retaliate properly. Besides, Sun Liling will return one of these days, and if I understood it correctly, she'll now be a puppet for the monster hidding West of the empire, who'll probably want to create chaos too to attack if the empire has to send forces South.
Right now, we are still too weak in face of all these obstacles. It would be better to continue growing stably for some more years before trying to add any more chaos to the already chaotic political situation of the empire.
