The Emperor has a currency no one else has for bribing ECs and when you consider the abilities of the Grey College it is a hell of a currency.
The Emperor has the currency of being the Emperor, with or without Grey College.

This argument has a lot of back and forth repartee, so let me try another angle:
You sound to me like you're coming at this from a sort of egalitarian, modern-democratic viewpoint where Luitpold is supposed to act like a kind of representative or public servant of the Elector Counts, because he's elected by them. He's not. The Emperor is in charge of the Empire, and the Elector Counts are subordinate to him. They have their own powers, they're not slaves, but the structure of the Empire is that within reason, Luitpold gives orders and the Elector Counts follow orders.
The fact that the Elector Counts elected Luitpold is more of a historical fact than the grounds for any sort of relationship between them. Luitpold is not first-among-equals, he's head-and-shoulders-above. If he decides to use Imperial resources for his goals, good for him, those are his resources. (Again, within reason.) He's not doing anything inherently wrong by using those resources.
If he's a smart man, he'll pick goals that preserve the Empire and align with the goals of the Elector Counts so they won't riot and will re-elect his son to follow in his footsteps.

There isn't obviously. To borrow an admited oversimplification from CK2 as a powerful vassal you want the central authority to be as weak as you can make it without inviting conquest, then take the throne and once you have it build up its power for your dynasty.

I mean, at this point you're arguing with the QM about how you would run people reacting in the quest if you were QM.

The "Heidi is too slimy to work for" argument will probably get more traction.

actually, just for fun.

ranking the jobs by how 'The Dämmerlichtreiter' they are:

[ ] Markgraf of Eastern Stirland (MAX TWILIGHT RIDER!)
[ ] Count of Sylvania (very Twilight Rider)
[ ] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred (spreading the legend)
[ ] Spymaster of Wissenland (kind of Twilight rider, just Spreading the legend in Wissenland)
[ ] Loremaster-at-Large of Karak Eight Peaks (a little Twilight rider, when dealing with imperial stuff.)
[ ] Border Princess of the Howling River (could be very twilight rider, but its not a default)
[ ] Nagarythe (Twilight Rider training arc, believe it!)
[ ] The Waystone Project (not Twilight rider, but might come back bigger and better Twilight Rider.)
[ ] Loremaster Sinecure (very little Twilight Rider, like, one action a decade.)
[ ] Ambassador-at-Large to the Karaz Ankor ( Dwarf-Friend overtakes Twilight Rider)
[ ] Ranaldian High Priest of Kislev (Ranaldian overtakes Twilight Rider)
[ ] Governor-General of Swamp Town (....do you know whatever happen to the twight rider Phil?)
[ ] Research Sabbatical (lazing riding.)

Whoops. I don't think I've basically ever shown up and seen an update while it's still not vote-opened yet, and I also just woke up so not really thinking yet.

It is really worthwhile reading the update carefully, thinking about what adventures seeds each position offers, and looking at BoneyM's comments at the bottom. You can also, but don't have to, look at some really excellent analysis posts people have been making (just skim looking for big blocks of text.) You might change your mind about what you want!

[/] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred

I think I have to go for these two. Being weird - shit poker/slayer/resolver for either the Dwarfs or the Empire sounds great! I think I'm actually leaning towards Empire since I actually do want to give them a leg up.

Mmm, Colleges as a lowkey Emperor's tool which Emperor can use to, potentially, influence the inheritance...well, Magnus wouldn't mind having such a tool, I suppose it makes sense. :V

Still, if Elector Counts are fine with their dynasty never becoming ruling one and there'll be no issues with colleges being used this way, this position becomes somewhat more viable.

While I want Lizardmen in the story, it seems Swamp Town is a bad way to go about it when we have a full set of books to read on the subject at home.
Rat Hunting sounds like the leading vote for me, followed by *The ones that lets us interact with Vlag*

Fair enough, I seem to have overestimated the Elector Counts' level of naked dynastic ambition.
It is worth bearing in mind that, as I previously mentioned, more than half of the Electors have no chance in the Warp of ever being elected, they just don't have the money for bribery, the political influence or the correct positioning vis-a-vis the Cult of Sigmar's multiple votes. So they mostly focus on selling their votes and voting against their more electable enemies.

My argument was less about modern egalitarianism and more about naked greed and ambition. Less about what Lutipold should do and more about the Counts acting in their own interests over the general good. From this perspective they would hate the ruling emperor having one more advantage, at least as long as the ruling emperor is not them. Since the GM has pointed out the mores of the day preclude that sort of thing on a mass scale I'm dropping the argument.

[ ] The Waystone Project
[ ] Nagarythe
No offense to Matilda the adventurer, she's awesome, but I Want to move back towards Matilda the Wizard, in particular. The adventures...Well. There's a certain hat on a certain Wizard's head, and a certain Axe still sitting in it's spot, that...
They cast a shadow over the good times, over the leveled Vampire Castle and or the reclaimed hold&Ranald ascendancy.
And I'm wanting some downtime to do things with that...What was it called again? Quaysh juice stuff? Like go from a curiousity/another form by which the Winds can be experimented with...To something that can truly be useful. And the Elves are people who could probably make use of it. Plus, Ngarythe potentially offers quite a bit of funtimes for Mathilda the Grey Wizard, and Mathilda the...Assassin? Spymaster? Master Thief? That I think work well to hone her nicely.
...
The Waystone Project, on the other hand, builds on Mathilda's authority as Lady Magister, her Amazing Volans-level Windsight, and her potential as a Windherder. It probably plays better with that 'raw stuff of the Materium' that bleeds from that mirror-trap Mathilda used, and assuming the dice don't ding us in the process, it might be nice to give Mathilda an accomplishment that is perhaps, less tied to Her Best Friend. Still tied with him, still aided by him, but more importantly, more building on the successes He handed her, versus trying something new and getting bailed out by Ranald.

Now hold on, we can't just do something like that. Mathilde has a girlfriend now an-Oh wait, I accidentally skipped a word in your post there.

Sorry 'bout that, must've forgotten to turn off my shipping goggles.
For some reason I now can't get the idea of some insane sigmarite priest ranting on a street corner about how the empire is being corrupted by a Cabal of lesbian Ranaldites, who may or may not be vampires out of my head.

Geez, these are all so exciting!

Belegar, lemme at all the weird secrets and problems of the Karaz Ankor
Being all chummy with Ros as we stamp out vampires, probably pop in over at Eagle Castle once a turn just to mess with her
Hanging out with Heidi at special events, equipping bodyguards with our Weird Wizard Shit, plus politics and Ranald
Even Konstantin did an excellent job appealing to me, even if I don't care about the rats. Throw in some gratis Old Dwarven Stuff and Weird Wizard Shit along with a predominantly warrior Rat clan, and I'm into that too now
Also Swamp Town I guess
