Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I want to do Gan social. But:

[] In her own mind, with Sixiang, pondering the meaning of insights, and the demon gnawing at her heart.

This is just so much more important.

[ ] Outside the pavilion, where Xia Lin sat beside Zhengui's bulk, staring thoughtfully out into the snow.

"Any path would have seen us face such a creature, there was no avoiding pain of some kind," Xia Lin responded first, her voice was a little thick. "I was, and am prepared to accept some pain for my duty."
Ling Qi's heart demon is, basically, being unwilling to let Xia Lin do her job.

She probably has interesting thoughts on the subject, and Ling Qi would give her a perspective on command - which is a skill she'll need to hack it in Renxiang's inner circle.

Especially when the heart demon is about taking consideration of other people.

Do we really want to try and resolve it with secluded meditation?
Sixiang is there as well and they will definitely try and help us through it. They know Qi the best out of anyone and they seem to have an understanding of what is going on. Plus Qi trusts them implicitly.

With that in mind:
[X] In her own mind, with Sixiang, pondering the meaning of insights, and the demon gnawing at her heart.

But I also want more GG and want more insight on the mountain tribes so:

[X] Drifting into the conversation between Gan Guangli and Meng Dan on the Mountain folk, where Hanyi sat listening idly.

I like talking with our friends, but a lot has happened and now would definitely be a good time to actually reflect on the last few updates and consider how to overcome our heart demon.

Option 3 also isn't hermiting, jeez. It's talking to Sixiang.

I agree that this heart demon won't be resolved by herself, Ling Qi will need someone else's help. But it wouldn't be resolved next update anyway, I don't think Ling Qi is ready yet.
I do think that meditating on what exactly her inner conflict is will help prepare Ling Qi to receive inspiration when the moment comes.

Definitely going for this one.

No hermiting allowed go talk to people you nerd
Arguing against introspection when all of our spirits basically called us out for being a dummy in certain areas seems a little odd, no?

[] In her own mind, with Sixiang, pondering the meaning of insights, and the demon gnawing at her heart.

I think this is the most important option here. We haven't tackled the heart demon at all and it's only going to hurt us more as time goes on. GG is great but I don't think Meng Dan is worth time investment when he's going to be going back to his totally separate sect here soon. Similarly I think Xia Lin is also not as tempting because she's going to leave when the White Plumes do.

Also I really want more bond with Six because Six is great.

Solemn update. I like that there's no immediate option to confront CRX and try and fix things.
Its more that there is nothing to fix between Qi and Renxiang.
Renxiang has accepted it as a necessary cost, and would make that same choice if she were in Qi's place. If anything, she'd see it as a weakness in herself
Ling Qi is the one who cannot accept it, she has enough difficulty with having other self sacrifice for her, actually making the call to put her friends in the way of harm is hard.
Not that its a thing that could be avoided forever. She's a feudal lord now, and part of that is commanding some of your sworn people to face uncertain death at least sometimes

So options:
[] Drifting into the conversation between Gan Guangli and Meng Dan on the Mountain folk, where Hanyi sat listening idly.

Common threads:
-Mountain Folk - This is about lineage and ancestry I think.
-Meng Dan - About lineage and history.
-Gan - What are his thoughts, as a soldier's son?
-Hanyi - Lineage is on her mind, whether she is a 'proper' Yukionna or whether it matters.

Overall, Hanyi was pretty disturbed about questions on her identity, and working it out here may be good, with additonal perspectives to cover what Ling Qi can't.

[] Outside the pavilion, where Xia Lin sat beside Zhengui's bulk, staring thoughtfully out into the snow.

Xia Lin - What did she see anyway that made her weep and is now making her contemplative? How does she feel about protecting, and in this case, failing to protect her charge?
Zhengui - He seems less upset than before when overwhelming forces keep him from being able to help, but its the old issue anew - Zhengui, once again, was unable to protect against the threat.

This might also verge upon the issues at hand - what DO you do when you cannot prevent harm?

[] In her own mind, with Sixiang, pondering the meaning of insights, and the demon gnawing at her heart.

Actively meditate upon the heart demon. This is unlikely to cure it, but it SHOULD highlight the right questions to answer for it.

I'm leaning Xia Lin/Zhengui for perspective, though I suspect directly addressing the heart demon takes priority for most.

If any choice could prepare us to future negotiation it would be this. We can sulk on our insights some other time after we get non-aggression pact with White Sky.

Not sure if this was the wrong choice yet, it'll depend on the kind of insight she gets from this. Zhengui said it best about her not leaving any responsibility for anyone else and I hope that'll push her out of her coddling tendencies.

More thoughts on the options
-Gan/Meng/Hanyi
--Furthers the mission success probability.
--Addresses Hanyi's self identity issues. This has been a long running problem but it seems to be coming to a head soon.
--Talks about just how important is your lineage and what forms of connection matters, or for the matter, what connections don't. Ling Qi has claimed to reject the worth of her closest Weilu ancestor - where does this end?

-Xia/Zhengui
--About the dream trap and how to deal with failing to protect people no matter how you try.
--Approaches the heart demon perpendicularly - its not the same issue but its undeniably a similar issue.
--Possibly about the growth insight? It seems Ling Qi and Xia Lin overlap on the insight, and Zhengui also has a denial of stasis as a fundamental concept of his.

-Aka Alone With Your Thoughts(Sixiang's name is literally Thought :p)
--About the heart demon. How do you cope when the desires of your loved ones conflict with your desires? Our advanced insight says that they matter, but it does not lay out how to arbitrate. Our insights say that we can give way, but not on the important things. That
--Sixiang's own unique perspective as a muse on such things. In stories, dreams and songs there's always SOME kind of usable compromise. Reality isn't necessarily convenient or narratively pleasing. Sometimes random shit happens outside your control and someone dies when you aren't there to intervene.

Honestly I'm tired of our heart demon and want it over with as quick as possible

We can only do diplomacy with the ice folk once, that's not the case with our heart demon when we can go back to the sect and contemplate it there.

Discord arguments ensues (speaking of, they should start arguing here soon instead of there, if they want to convince people)
