...why? Money exists for a reason, devolving to bartering when you can sell something everybody needs and then use that money to get something from someone who cannot afford a jumpship is common sense.
cause Brand new Jumpships are rare especially in the periphery also it can get us many things as they are seen as more valuable then straight up C-bills. Like might be possible to get planets to join us for Jumpships Valuable.

So you intended to use them as barter items for extremely rare/valuable technology/items, not as a trade-good? In that case it would (if prometheus allows it, or doesn't make it non-viable) work, even to the point of being able to bribe the elite of some planets to give up their claims and give ownership of said planet/s to the Republic for X-Amount of Jumpships.

...bribing low-tech elites with Jumpships for their planets... :thonk:

...... You're a genius.

We were always going to study the jump drive. Both because it lets us design our own jump ship instead of just copying what is available like what was thought to be the case at first, and because we want to get our allies building new ships as well. Jumpships are better at moving things around over long distances, they already have a support network that is set up, and they are the basis of trade already. We want as many new Jumpships in the Periphery as possible. Because it ties and strengthens the alliance together even more. It makes us a more important and powerful force that can't be pushed around. It also makes everyone in the alliance a massive amount of money and makes military reactions faster and harder hitting.

Yes, and I am on board with that. I was more confused about the notion of using Jumpships as alternative currency to C-Bills, until their value as bribes/barter good for rare/valuable things and/or planets was pointed out/sprung into my head.

They aren't being used as an alternative not really. We don't need C-bills we already have far more money than we need. All the C-bills we have right now are is a liquid currency bank of foreign money. Out of the Alliance, we have the 2nd largest economy even with the smallest population and size. The MoC would be cacthing up to us because we are helping them do it but we are still going to be larger than them as we expand and build up more. And the AC is building up faster than the MoC since we have been helping them longer but they started off much worse so will not over take them or match them for a lot longer. The Jumpships are not a bribe they are a show of streghtn to independent worlds as to what they will gain and have access to by joining us and the Alliance. The TC has areas it can expand to for new colonies. The MoC finally has the backing it needs to take down the Marian Hegemony and expand to those worlds and some of areas near the FWL/CC border. The rest of the Frontier area is ours and the Aurigan's to expand into.

since we're not bound to replicating we need to consider what the best Collar to price ratio to number of ships is gonna be.
can't remember if the discout was 1/4 or 1/5 so i'm taking the smaller one
some canon examples
ClassStandard priceprojected price if helgan builtCollarseffective Price per collareffective H price per collar
Scout300,000,000240,000,0001300,000,000240,000
merchant384,711,675307,769,3402192,355,837.5153,884,670
invader500,000,000400,000,0003166,666,666.667133,333,333.333
Star lord750,000,000600,000,0006125000000100,000,000
in terms of cost more collars is better but at the same time we need to consider coverage. me and advent had a massive row over Coverage issue a while back over how to maxmize the number of collars in production vs how many ships are in service. We eventally called a truce tentively deciding an Invader clone was the sweet spot for that partly because we don't know how things will break down for rate of production. was it gonna be by tonnage? by cost? by hull?

Cost or tonnage an invader clone blows everything out of the water in terms of number of ships while being effient in per collar cost while by hull we have no reason not to cram the max number of collars we can into the jumpships we build.

Setting up yards in all four Nations would allow us to increase the logistical chain available in the Periphery. First step would be to improve the Mechdur yard to produce larger and more advanced dropships. With the losses taken by the FedSun yard it would give the Aurigans a good source of business to make money to pay the Taurians.

It would be a few years to finish so I think starting the comm line to the Capital for the Aurigans next turn is smart. It is the shortest amount of time and once it is done we also would have finished upgrading the factories and would have points free to keep improving the Aurigans.

We also would need to talk to the other Nations to start a joint research program before we start the long research road for K-F drives. That would take a normal action to complete though which is why we couldn't get anything beyond the power armor program during the war. The program proposal would be a full on research alliance with everyone sharing the research with each other instead of just on a single tech like what the power armor is. It would be our version of the NAIS if on a smaller scale for now. To make it more palpable to all the other nations either the Power Armor needs to be done or going well to show what we can gain by working together. It would also be another link to bind the Four Nations together.

We also need to get a proper name for the Alliance as we still don't have one.

Does K-F drive have any significant advantages over our current jump engines? Aren't K-F jumpships mostly made of Germanium? That seems like a huge drawback..

there's the one i've been usng. Outer Rim Defense Inventive, ORDI.

longer per jump range, longer operational range do to running off solar sails and needing less maintenance.

They are better for strategic movement, have an established support network, are already known to the locals, don't require nearly as much supplies and repairs as our ships, and they are cheaper. No the drive is not made of germanium it is a alloy that uses it. And why would that be a drawback anyways if it was?

Isn't germanium is hard to come by and expensive? Certainly not to the point of "single source of petrusite in the entire galaxy" rarity, but still.
germanium is somewhat of a pain in the ass to get planet side. on earth its a byproduct of Zinc mining most of the time. but there is a certian industrial project a Helgan company is working on with Tuarian funding that should increase our ability to find the stuff.

We already have a big mine on Helghan as it is located near a Petrusite vein that we ignored for a boost to the economy instead. We have our supply secured. The Helghan people are also masters of mining and extraction of rare minerals and energy as that was what gave it the original power and what allowed it to recover from the ISA blockade induced depression. Also unlike the Inner Sphere we are just better at mining and with better equipment. We also have several mines all over that place in multiple systems that can produce it. It isn't that hard for us to mine and process we just need to find more of it but we already have a lot of it available already.

I have been working around this for so long, y'all don't even know. Please, end my pain. :V

Also, voting will close in 2 hours so I can get started on the update now that I'm home.
Let me take a look back to what was suggested the first time then we can make a new vote tally for it. Just give me about half an hour to go through the thread to make sure I get all of them.

Alright went through every page from the pact being made to the end of the war. Here are all the options people came up with. Some were jokes but I decided to take them anyway.

Southern Stars Alliance
Outer Rim Defense Initiative
Galactic Defense Initiative (Half Joke derivative of the option above it)
The coalition of Sovereign Nations

Periphery Defense Front (PDF Joke)

The FaThLi Pact (Definitely a Joke as we don't know what it means)

Sovereign Defence Alliance

The Periphery Defense Initiative

The Pact Of Mechdur (Based off the name for the Treaty)
The Hail Mary Union (Joke for another name for the Treaty)

Rimward Periphery Defense Initiative
Periphery Defense Alliance
Rimward Periphery Alliance

The Rimward Allied Cooperation Treaty R.A.C.T.
The Rimward Allied State Treaty R.A.S.T.
The Rimward Allied State Cooperation Treaty R.A.S.CO.T.
Rimward Organization of Allied States Treaty R.O.A.S.T.

Rimward Alliance for Territorial Sovereignty R.A.T.S for short. (The QM's joke for which is funny and still works)

Periphery Treaty Organization

The C.A.T.H(ca-th), A.C.H.T(act), H.A.C.T(hac-t), T.A.C.H(tak) or C.H.A.T(chat, or Kat) Pact (Canopus, Aurigan, Taurian, Helgen)

For obvious reason nobody sugest Rimward's Republic.

Its only a single alphabet away from something once great.
