Really want to start on advanced petrusite theory. That and double heat sinks and exoskeletons/PA given our agreements
 
It would like to see us getting our robotics leveled up sooner rather than later. It is one thing we definatly are far ahead of the IS in and is the best way we can make up for the vast manpower difference both industrially and defense wise.
 
@prometheus110 we should be at 8 open out 11 AP as we gained 1 AP from Autonomous Systems finishing last turn. Also the Hasta cruisers should be more than 3 per AP since that was supposed to be how much they were the first time we built some and we spent 1 AP on building them last turn

Considering the situation on Caliban is a mess which I see no way to resolve that is even remotely simple and/or easy. I am tempted to wash our hands of that mess or just straight up invading and conquering them outright.

Current thoughts, since the other two FTL projects are 3 and 2 turns we can hold off on starting them for a turn or two and still finish with the magistracy. For me we start Taurian next turn when the locked AP to orbital elevators is free and the AR the turn after when the Mechdur AP is free. Meanwhile talk to AR about the Anomaly (maybe more tech we can get part of?). Build another colony ship to speed up colonization and build more cruisers. Also send off additional explorers to try and find more worlds to incorporate or colonize. And contact one of the nearby worlds to start relations with the intent of having them join the republic.

For research starting Improved Fusion as I want that and Improved Fusion Drives for our next gen cruisers, KF Drive so that we can produce jump ships to sell and to help the economy of our allies. Terrain Engineering is my pick for terraforming techs though we do want all of them at some point. And intermediate structural materials which is now star league tech also for our next gen cruisers.

I can't think of what to do about Caliban this turn so I'll just leave it as is right now until the situation changes over there.
We've had the petrusite survey available for a while so now might be a good time to start it.
Neurohelmets are the only society research project we have a boost for right now so we might as well have it as our current society research.
I really want to get Petrusite weapons to standard level and we're not getting any boosts any time soon so we might as well start now.
As appealing as new guns for the troops are we need to upgrade our vehicles, mechs and the like so I'm starting with the stuff that have designs posted on the thread already.

Just an idea but maybe we should propose joint research for KF drives and terraforming to the other alliance members like we have with power armour before diving into research for them and we should probably be discreet about KF research so C* doesn't have a bigger reason to stick there noses into our affairs.

@prometheus110 shouldn't we be able to upgrade the Hasta as we've gained better engine, structure and reactor technologies since we designed it?

You are right, in fact, we have the Society branch of the research tree abandoned if we compared it with the others (only touching the Neurohelmet part). Some Selective Defoliants or Terrain Engineering could help us to colonize better our colonies... or make our home planet a little less... Helghan-like, respectively.

Like I said we really need to get Advanced petrusite theory done. At minimum i expect it to give a reseach bonus to petrusite techs but I actually hope that it gives greater insight into how petrusite forms, allowing us to find it easier (i.e. cutting down that 5 turns) and maybe even allowing us to make it in the long run. The same is true for Irradiated petrusite, especially given that that is even rarer than normal petrusite and is probably harder to research.
 
I would like to weigh in on what to do with Caliban.

We, essentially, have three options.

1. Do nothing. Observe what is happening and remain reactionary.
2. Invade. Drop the charade, take the hit with relations, and take over. This will massively improve the lives of (almost) everybody on the planet.
3. Operation Scapegoat. (By me, and very open to suggestions/discussion)

Number three would consist of having news outlets receive 'classified' or smuggled information from refugees/observers/soldiers about atrocities and planned crimes against humanity by either faction. (Slave army with bomb-collars for the city-states, and regular massacres and similar for the Khan.) We, the government, would hold a press conference stating that those crimes and rumors are, to our sources, true. (We will do so after a good-sized shitstorm has started.) This means ~invasion ~time!

After killing the Khan (placing Spec-Ops here to ensure 'She fought to the last') and deposing the rulers of the hostile cities, while 'asking' to be allowed to place security forces in the neutral/friendly ones, we go over to phase three: Money Can Buy Happiness.

Phase three: we will tell everybody that there'll be a referendum in two years (can be cranked up to five), where the planet can get its shit together, either by voting for a unitary government or to join the republic. Either way, we will spend those two-five years building up the planet. Given that our military and refugee camps are better than what they have on-site, this will massively boost our popularity with everybody. We also tell them that they won't have to pay for a single thing and that we will support an independent government until it can stand on its own.

Doing the above will result in a friendly government, happy press with our allies, or another member planet.

Should probably take an official stance with regards to Caliban (ie are we invading them or are we going to diplomance one faction or the other) and... Maybe set up a Light Mech design to balance out the Titan.

The next mech is a 45 ton medium mec based on the titan chassis.

the next upgrade is not better reactors or drives Void. The stuff we have now is already much better than what we used. What is holding back the upgrade for normal cruiser-destroyer is getting new weapons like sub-capital and building a dedicated troop regiment carrier so that part can be removed from the Arc and normal cruisers. We already use fusion for planetary power and the next level will not make it better because it is XL engines just larger bulk but less mass engines that are super expensive. the standard fusion reactors are what is used for powering huge things to begin with. and even the primitive reactors we had were more than eniugh. now that we have standard we can build them better and easier without having to focus on the next level.

Okay so for most of this I don't think I have to explain it's self explanatory.

But for MAWLR redesign there old we do need to update them and if I Remember Right the Main gun is basically plug and play, ISA cruiser they where powerful and building them means we have an idea on how to improve or modify them for other tasks. That's getting older version of tech out of the way, the Matriarch it's a new tank design not gonna replace our current tanks but there old so probably time for a new design. And for the Titan you know just bring it up to modern standards and not Primitive.

To be fair, the two on going projects are going to finish next turn and in two turns respectively So we could put off the taurian FTL until the elevator is done and do the same with the AC when Mechdur is done and start the MoC right now. And I do think we need to get on this ASAP given that with the war over more eyes are going to turn our way, especially with the Defensive Pact, us poking the FS on the blackbox issue, and the TCs actions so having open local comms separate from Comstar is critical. So yes there will be two turns where we have three actions locked and one turn with 2 but if we want to meet the deadline this will happen regardless.

Caliban is a shit show and last turn all that really happened was the khan made a move against the pact who ran her off and the Pact complained about our refugee camp and the Khans forces where seen doing some light probing around our territory before backing off before our forces arrive. So without something significant happening we just continue as we are and I believe that the camps don't need us to make an action.
