I doubt him wearing the mask means he would be immune to the effects of the starstone. More likely talismans and weapons carved from it are treated so that cultivators can use them w/o harm. Raw material like the big shiny over there is a different story, I think.

Oh I don't think he is immune, I just think that if there is a group there that knows how to deal with it, it is the one wearing the stuff. No idea if the barbs have a crafter/fighter seperation or what his role is but it is possible that he made the mask. Between that and his culitvation he might be able to run off with it.

The communication guy was extremely surprised that someone as low as a Cyan would be wearing it. Considering its Indigo/Prism grade material, I think that skills required to handle the raw material is above him.

There are a lot of unknowns here, but while I'm formulating my observations I just want to interject here:

An attack on any party present will be seen as an attack on the host. We've stumbled on a major negotiation and unless you want to be known as the faction that kills messengers and negotiators or let's them get ganked, you tend to go 'not in my house' and slap that shit down.
This is moot to establish an alliance of sorts. There is mistrust between the Shishigui and the other two because they think they over-reached with their attacks on the Sect. That "unreliable and unprepared ally" idea gets confirmed with the Sect attack on this meeting. If they can't even organize a meet in neutral ground without their enemies finding out, why the hell would you trust them with your people and/or information on your activities? If we can nab both the Starstones, the Cyan's sect might just take it out on them.

I do think there is something to be said for a CRX + Guan Zhi team up against the Twelth, as that's one of the rare potential direct strike that would give a complete advantage if it works, and has good works of working. Doesn't seem there is any plan for it though, sooo.

I'm not sure if it is surprising because of the rarity or the power. But yeah it is a good point. I just figure he is the next best bet to take it, and I want it.

The way I see it, securing the starstone is a pretty effective way for LQ to support her allies in this battle. If she does manage to steal it, she's probably going to wind up being chased by a bunch of the higher level combatants, which means that they'll be stuck in LQ's mist and focusing on chasing her down instead of on escaping the mist and setting up buff trains or dealing with the Sect's forces. If she can't steal it and has to defend it like a hard point instead, the same thing will happen but with the added bonus that most of the high level enemy cultivators are right next to the thing, so even the ones that want to go support their Yellows will have to deal with getting out of the mist. Either way, stealing the shiny would be a pretty effective way of mucking up enemy movement and keeping attackers focused on LQ, which is ideal since LQ is a defensive specialist.

The main drawback with stealing the starstone is the amount of enemy attention it will put on LQ until the rest of the sect forces arrive. It's basically gambling that either her thieving skills and mobility or her defensive prowess are up to the task of dealing with several high Green cultivators until her allies can get into a position to support her. The fact that it's an option suggests that LQ believes she can, and her War C score means that she's probably not completely out to lunch here, but I suspect it'll be a close thing. Securing the thing would probably have a hell of a payoff though. High risk, high reward and all that.

I also wonder if LQ's skills are really enough to steal the thing out from everyone's noses before the assault force arrives. Even w/ the distraction provided by the artillery strikes, there are a lot of people here who are higher level than her and probably have perception arts that can see her through any stealth. At least the G6s and higher probably could. Yes there are a few seconds of distraction provided for LQ but after the enemies get their bearings (which shouldn't be too long, they all come from a warrior culture and none of them are strangers to battle), anyone not hit by the artillery strike will whip out their perception arts to look for enemies. Thats a lot of perception arts to avoid, some from much higher level fighters than LQ. Its gonna be a dicey 1-2 min until our friends arrive so I hope "securing starstone" won't lead to "LQ being overconfident and trying for the stone in those 1-2 minutes.
Its basically a heist so she can case the area, see where she can get in unnoticed, etc. But frankly, I think some people are overestimating her abilities here.

Several weakened and potentially exhausted high green cultivators backed up by definitely weakened and exhausted low green barbarians

Which means Ling Qis sustain game will be at its strongest

I mean, the goal here is to grab the stone while they're disoriented from an artillery strike and book it, not to pull of some sort of unseen heist. yrs has said in the past the the options he gives for situations like this are those the LQ thinks are reasonable based on her level in the relevant skill(s). From the front page, the relevant skill for stealing things is stealth, and the skill for booking it is dodge. LQ does have a specialty in "Sleight of Hand" (i.e. stealing), which means (if I'm not horribly wrong about the mechanics) that she can apply her A ranked advanced stealth skill to this situation. She's not bad at stealing things, and if she can grab the rock then she can rely on her A rank dodge skill to get out of there.

Now, all of this planning is happening under the aegis of her War C skill (yrs needs to update that, see skill gains at end of last chapter), so there is a chance she's misjudging the situation here, although it's likely lower than War C would imply because she's good at stealing stuff and running. If it does go wrong then she gets bogged down trying to defend a hard point in the middle of a group of enemies, with her support 1 - 2 minutes away. Which would be bad, but I feel this is less likely than you're implying.

It depends on how comfortable you are with the risk I guess. Again, it would be a very effective tactical move if it works, plus we get the rock, so I'm all for it.

The reason I don't like the star stealing plan is because Ling Qi books it, leaving Guan Zhi and CRX vastly outnumbered. It essentially defeats the purpose of showing off why CRX and Ling Qi work well together and abandons another objective, which is to capture the Cloud Tribe members. As one of the few high green cultivators on the initial attack, Ling Qi should stay there to assist.

Not only does taking the stone make Ling Qi a target, it also shackles her to the stone because she can't leave the stone alone even once she hauls it out of the caldera. There are more than enough enemy greens around that any others would be overwhelmed, unless we shackle another cultivator higher than Ling Qi to it - which is just as problematic for the purposes of extracting the assault group or assisting in the subjugation and capture of the nomads.

I am much more OK with the plan if Ling Qi just sits on the stone and assists Guan Zhi and CRX in their battles from mid-far range, and I really wish the option was clear as to whether Ling Qi attempts to just run away with the stone or to just prevent others from securing the stone. There's a huge difference in Ling Qi's actions depending on the interpretation, and different people have variously said they think it means one or the other, which is not helpful in evaluating the plan.

Can't steal it the stone will disrupt the wind thief, hell even if id doesn't its a giant rock we have to lug while the flyers harry us and the white sky either helps the other group or fights us.
PLR is out too the stone will eat the dream inside out.

I mean, starstone is typically reserved for Indigos at minimum, they were very surprised a cyan had any. If she does manage to grab it a bunch of high level greens are coming for her, which means a) she'll be in the thick of the fight and in a great position to support the other sect members, and b) those Cloud Tribe members aren't doing pesky things like trying to escape, making it easier to capture them.

Unless she fails to book it, in which case she's stuck trying to defend a hardpoint with most of her fortification arts disrupted.

Yeah, I'd say that's straight up the worst outcome here. If she doesn't grab it then she's on her own for several minutes and surrounded by stronger, though disoriented, opponents. LQs defense is good, and I think she could pull it off, but probably not without taking enough hits to damage her effectiveness for the rest of the fight.

I think it's reasonably likely that she can grab the rock, given that she's good at theft and that Moon Qi is a distant cousin to Stellar Qi, making it possible for her to hold onto the thing for a few minutes while she runs. It'll almost certainly hurt, but it wouldn't be an option if LQ didn't reasonably believe she could do it IC.

Again, all the vote says is to secure the starstone. There's a lot of ways to go about that, and Ling Qi's going to experiment a little with some of her stuff.

Hell, Zhengui could maybe cocoon the damn thing in all those roots and walls that he can make, and that might work as a pseudo lead box to better shield his and LQ's arts from the disrupting effect.

IIRC, wasn't one of the historical legends all about how the moon blocked and filtered the stars' light? Moon qi might be at an advantage against stellar qi.

Yeah as others have said in response, there's no way for LQ to use her stealth or speed here bc the stone will disrupt her qi. The other option is to guard the stone and prevent others from securing it but that means setting ourselves up and ZG as the big target for everyone to focus on. For the 1-2 min before our friends get here, its gonna be really dicey. Yes ZG can be a hard point and a tank while LQ can be very hard to hit esp. while having battlefield control but they're alone for those 2 min against everyone else. In terms of cultivators battle, 2 min is actually kinda a long time. A lot of stuff can happen. So I really hope LQ just waits for CRX and they take out the Shishigui--the only ones who we know can handle the starstone-- together rather than her acting prematurely.
