[X] Defend the Geomantic Forts (Defensive Mission, Objective: Hold the Line, Defend production students, Survive)
I'm honestly surprised that you'd flip sides and argue for the mission that you explicitly note likely puts Zhengui at more of a disadvantage in helping Ling Qi, including leaving him behind to handle a position on his own.Zhengui is maybe less obviously utilized in this mission, but he should still be able to shelter allied Green forces during the fight. His ability to set up defences anywhere, and being the supporting hardpoint that isn't easily cracked, is valuable. For captures, Hanyi can lure enemies down to the ground where he can bind them with roots. Same thing with Ling Qi driving enemies broken off from the pack down to the ground, or foes flung with the eagle. Dancer CC is more irregular, so not really reliable for this purpose.
It's not "flipping sides" to have multiple different things I tend to want to pursue. Here, it's more information for Ling Qi on the broader nature of the conflict and culture she's facing, which is a priority I've always had.I'm honestly surprised that you'd flip sides and argue for the mission that you explicitly note likely puts Zhengui at more of a disadvantage in helping Ling Qi, including leaving him behind to handle a position on his own.
So earlier people were talking about how Su Ling had dropped in ranking and lost a reward tier. She dropped one place. Now instead of being Meizhan's position when she entered the inner sect she's at Xuan Shi's position when he entered the inner sect. Guys she's an early third realm that was granted the same rank as the victor of the end of year tournament. The fact that she only dropped 1 rank is a testament to how well she's doing. That said we should still definitely do things with her.
In other news Xuan Shi also dropped a rank from 710 to 711 unless I got something mixed up. That's kind of surprising considering how well he did on the mission.
There's no mention of a "main force," since all we know from Renxiang is that the Sect is getting a group together for the mission. But do you honestly think, given everything we've seen from the Cloud Tribe on their tactics and arts, that this will actually turn into a ground fight? Because the idea that there's assuredly going to be this large group of lower level cultivators for Zhengui to protect doesn't appear to have very much ground to stand on, given it looks like we might be heading up into the mountain range that Liao Zhu and Ling Qi scouted before. It's not "flipping sides" to have multiple different things I tend to want to pursue. Anyway, "leaving Zhengui behind" doesn't feel accurate in the context of the operation, here. The nature of Imperial tactics is that the "main force" is ground-bound. Ling Qi isn't an independent agent, she's part of that force. Any flying she does is in service to that force. It's an entity she's tied to, and will always return to.
I don't know exactly how the Sect's forces will be arrayed in this assault, but there is going to be a significant 3rd realm presence at least, or else we wouldn't be permitted to join at all flight or no, which means ground forces moving into the battlespace. We'll be sharing a battlefield with Zhengui as part of a mutual struggle, even if we happen to be on the other side of it from him at points. He'll have shit to do to feel and be productive, and I expect that we'll cooperate with him in our tactics on top of that, as I noted in the passage you quoted.
I kinda wish we knew more about how WHR interacts with Eagle Yeeting, because being entirely serious, it makes Ling Qi and company's mobile hardpoint strategy even nastier if we can reposition Mobile Oppression Fortress Zhengui that easily.
This might just mean that someone at a higher rank than them challenged and beat someone at a lower rank. Iirc if disciple 800 challenges and beats disciple 700, they don't switch places. Instead 800 moves to 700, 700 moves to 701, and 701-799 all move down a rank. So other people's promotions might have shifted their ranks without them doing anything.
[X] Assault the Cloud Tribe Ritual Site (Offensive Mission, Objectives: Kill and capture enemy combatants, gather intelligence, Survive)
Though both missions have my favorite goal to see Ling Qi complete: survive.
I genuinely hope that Zhengui can be eagle-yeeted, but trying to juggle him in the open air while fighting Cloud cultivators seems like it'll add a ton of complexity to the combat, and I question the viability of consistently getting him close enough to help.I kinda wish we knew more about how WHR interacts with Eagle Yeeting, because being entirely serious, it makes Ling Qi and company's mobile hardpoint strategy even nastier if we can reposition Mobile Oppression Fortress Zhengui that easily.
"Whoops, there's suddenly a fortification on top of your escape route" nasty.
If nothing else, the qi cost would be horrifying even for Qi, yes.I question the viability of trying to get him close to them consistently enough to help.
It's a meeting point, and possible ritual site of some sort, but like I said before we haven't actually seen the Cloud Tribe do fixed point defenses and knee-deep-in-the-mud kinds of fights. Zhengui will probably be doing some stuff in the first couple rounds, but beyond that? I think the fight is going to get too high into the sky for him.If nothing else, the qi cost would be horrifying even for Qi, yes.
But we're hitting a fixed location, and with Ling Qi on the assault team, we're probably getting a first-round surprise. So everybody might still be grounded and under Zhengui's guns when the fight starts, if we're lucky.
Well, if nothing else, we can have him sit on any prisoners we grab in the opening stages.Zhengui will probably be doing some stuff in the first couple rounds, but beyond that? I think the fight is going to get too high into the sky for him.
