We Are the Gods of a New World Order [Warhammer 50K ~ Warp God Simulator]

So I mostly like Last Chance Before We Dance... but I think "Anything we missed" is basically a complete waste of an action.

If there's some big secret enemy that's remained secret for decades, which we haven't encountered despite spreading across the entire planet and that Dana has no knowledge of... then they can stay secret for another turn.

Unless we think they'll be immediately relevant next turn, we've got more important prorities to use our manpower on.

[X] Plan Immediate Priorites
-[X] Explore the Flayer Vessel (DC ???)
--[X] Heroic Unit: Dana (1 uses left)
--[X] Heroic Unit: Layla (0 uses left)
--[X] Domains: Death, Harvest, Artifice (3 left)
-[X] Prepare for War (DC 50)
--[X] Heroic Unit: Dana (0 uses left)
--[X] Manpower Token (2 left)
-[X] Training the Troops: Vanguard Doctrine (Requires 1 Manpower + Horatio Mills) (DC 60)
--[X] Heroic Unit: Horatio (0 uses left)
--[X] Manpower Token (1 left)
--[X] Manpower Token (0 left)
--[X] Domains: Endurance, Weaving, Death (0 left)

Compared to Last Chance, this plan uses an extra domain on the Flayer Vessel, to maximize gains, and puts an extra manpower token on training - if we're lucky, it'll give us more troops, but even "merely" giving a bonus to the action improves the chances of both passing the DC and of critting and getting a Bumblebee Style special unit.

Is there a link to the discord somewhere? Not having all of the discussion and info is one place is kinda frustrating. Also,

Well let's roll the dice? We need both wall sap and training but realistically can only do one in time we have left.

My thinking is as follows: I am concerned that there is something out there that might cause us problems down the line. Once the Space Marines arrive and drop pod us, we will probably lose access to the wilderness. So:
  • If what's hidden behind Anything We Missed is a bad thing for us, we should know about it as quickly as possible so we can plan around it, especially if it's something the Space Marines might be able to leverage against us.
  • If what's hidden behind it is a good thing for us, we want to know about it as quickly as possible so we can get it (exotic fauna/flora we can weaponize? Supply caches from settlements?).
  • If there's nothing hidden behind it and Alectai is just trolling us, such is life.
Furthermore, I just don't think there's a good use for the third Manpower token. You put it on training actions, which I agree would be a super high priority if it turns out it in fact gets us more dudes, but unless Alectai confirms that, I don't think it's likely. I'd love to get more dudes and will swap over to your plan in a heartbeat if it turns out that's on the table.

I mean, sure, but is gambling on finding some neato mushrooms that we would then need to spend more actions on to exploit really better in the immediate term than just getting another +10 to our Necron Salvage results by putting another domain on it?

Okay yeah, on a further thought, scouting the unknown potential threats at this point is probably waste of our time. We have too many known threats at this point to worry about and prepare for to have the luxury to poke at such a unsure mystery threat box, with minimal chance of it being a loot box with maybe something inside of it.

While I would prefer that the Manpower was moved to the Flayer Vessel instead of establishing the Vanguard Doctrine, as I'm unsure if we will be getting a mechanical or even a narrative bonus to it with the extra manpower, well. Integrating the technological insights to biotech, if they are gained from the Necron tech? That would certainly be useful with how much we are already betting it to be a game changer with this. (Btw, also trying to write an omake in time for it). Hey, @Redshirt Army, what do you think about moving the Manpower Token like I said? And others, would you be okay with that.

Anyway. I still prefer this plan over the others, even without any changes.

So because I have a one-track mind, I've estimated the odds of miracles for each of the current plans. Note that this assumes no outside factors giving us penalties, that Weavers of Life doesn't apply to the Flayer Vessel, that Healers Without Borders applies to Prepare for War, that Warmaidens applies to Vanguard Doctrine and that I've understood how this system works correctly.

-Plan Last Chance Before We Dance
--Anything we miss: 10%
--Explore the Flayer Vessel: 40%
--Prepare for War: 0%
--Training the troops: 50%
---Odds of at least one miracle: 73%

-Plan The Last Supper
--Explore the Flayer Vessel: 40%
--Prepare For War: 0%
--Training the Troops: 60%
---Odds of at least one miracle: 76%

-Plan Loot and Prep, Vanguard Edition
--Explore the Flayer Vessel: 50%
--Prepare For War: 0%
--Training the Troops: 50%
---Odds of at least one miracle: 75%

-Plan Immediate Priorities
--Explore the Flayer Vessel: 50%
--Prepare for War: 0%
--Training the Troops: 60%
---Odds of at least one miracle: 80%

Since I have said one-track mind, what to vote seems clear to me.

That being said, I would really like to have a miracle on Prepare for War, so if someone formulates a plan with an actual chance of that I could be convinced to switch.

Agreed, assuming extra manpower on training gives more troops (Edit: confirmed on Discord!). Stick to one mystery box at a time.

There's actually an existing plan that does that, Plan Loot and Prep, Vanguard Edition. I'd be 100% behind that move if @Alectai clarifies that the extra manpower token won't give a bonus to training, and will switch to that plan myself. If it does give a bonus, though, I think training is probably more important in the immediate future than a minor bonus to salvage.

Yes, actually, neato mushrooms to then spend actions to exploit would be amazing, because of our hero distribution: one gives bonuses to Preaching and Charity and is blocked from Infiltration, one gives bonuses to Kinetic and Infiltration and is blocked from Preaching, and one gives bonuses to Charity and Kinetic and is blocked from Preaching and Infiltration. Obviously our two Kinetic heroes are gonna be full of shit to do, but Dana, who has two actions to use, would really like to have Charity actions that boost the war effort to spend her actions on. Just look at what she's doing this turn! And it'd be something for our Manpower tokens to apply Weaver of Life Doctrine bonuses to, which is relevant (again, look at this turn, where our Doctrine bonuses to actions range from "no" to "maybe").

That being said, if it were just a lootbox I wouldn't poke it now. I just do not want our wilderness to be something the Space Marines know more about than we do. For proper resistance against them, I feel we need the strongest local intel we can get.

EDIT:

Warmaidens doesn't apply to Vanguard Doctrine; it didn't give us bonuses when training the troops last time.
[Training the Troops (Ranger Doctrine): 97 + 10 (Horatio) - 7 (Human Limit) + 30 (Domains:) 130]
Other than that I see no errors.

[X] Plan Last Chance Before We Dance

What I just understood
1. • Maiden met her "older" brother sister Magus; • he she 'acquired' some knowledge; • he she maybe "predicted" we'd lose (prophecy and all); • Maiden effectively surprised him her; • Magus 'accidentally' but generously gave her a gift.
Our first meeting is.... yeah

2. Who'd bet that Scarlet Cavalier will be "born" during the siege? He's the last to appear, and this is more or less his intro:
You will awaken in protection of the weak against an impossible threat.
From governers perspective we are an impossible threat

Problem:

Our plasma stuff is called "Sunfire" and not "Sunshine"

I would like to speak to the manager of "naming fictional weaponry on quests on SV", please.

This is a very good point, especially considering that our plasma launchers are shoulder-mounted.

🎵 Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy🎵
🎵 Sunshine in my eyes makes me cry...🎵
I assumed that was because Ranger's harrying efforts doesn't involve a large concentration of force, which the Vanguard to my reading does.
Personally I'd expect that logic to kick in upon deploying the Vanguards rather than training them, but I can imagine the world where it does. Another theory @CrimsonOddball has floated is that when Manpower tokens are required, they don't give Doctrine bonuses, but maybe if we apply extra Manpower tokens above that they will?
