Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I would suggest that we vote to go to the Village first. The dome seems to have a set schedule, or at least an order, where groups exit and enter which indicates that there is a specific time frame involved in whatever happens within. The stone bridges seem much less scheduled which means that it might take us longer there to figure out what exactly is going on.

Furthermore, the bridge seems to have more people which means more chances to catch gossip or discussion about the happenings in the area, which could further guide our investigation. All in all, I think that the bridge is more ambiguous in the time that could be spent there learning and has more potential about what we learn as well.

[X] Infiltrate the bridge village
Our Beast handling is E. We wouldn't understand much from their herding practices.

I'm very much in favor of dueling Ji Rong. He's our closest parallel in terms of background and current position, his talent is a bit better than ours, and he has had time to come up with counters to our skillset. I want to know how we compare.

"But I'm gonna fight anyone Sis says to fight. I'll help Sis kill as many as she needs to kill. I can do that at least."

How morbid, Ling Qi mused, ruffling her hair.
Hanyi is the best; would kill for us.

What was it Meizhen had said? We hurt and we are hurt. By choosing to care, she opened herself to pain. When others chose to connect themselves to her, they were accepting pain. It was true that you should try not to hurt those you cared about with your actions, it was also true that doing so was inevitable as long as you were two separate people, with individual drives.

She could not stop being herself. She should not stop trying to be herself.

And neither should Zhengui or Hanyi or anyone else. They had to work together, to compromise their interests at times, because that was what family was. It could not always be one person who compromised though. If you were going to support each other, then everyone had to offer support
Looks like we're using the situation and Meizhen's advice to tie together the insights of FVM, our advanced one, SCS, and a bit of HDW. Hopefully the resolution of the current heart demon isn't far.

"End of next month, Sun Liling and me are leaving. She's got family business back home, and I gotta do some formal crap myself. We'll be back for the New Year Tourney, but I wanna do this before that
Few things:
  • End of next month likely means after we get our new suite online. Should be good for testing the arts and maybe domain combat, letting us know how it looks like, as well as giving a narrative excuse to do it. Combined with the pretty mature reasoning to ask, it looks like this bout will benefit both of us. Especially looking forward to seeing wind thief, SNR and UGM in action since those should be the main points for that fight.

  • My guess is that the personal business Ji Rong has relates either to his new status as a noble clan founder or to his debt over technically only escaping a death camp for murder of a noble because he had Talent. No idea what Liling's up to though.

  • They'll be back by turn 13, (new years) so will be gone ~4 months.

As for the vote, probably village because translation ring and also supply lines.

[X] Infiltrate the bridge village

I was hoping for a rematch against Ji Rong, especially after we get our new build rolling, so it's nice to see that happening.

I want to duel Ji Rong as well!
That, and I wish Ling Qi had been a bit less prickly with him. Oh well, in order to lessen the bad blood between these two... you could say she has a Rong way to go. :3c

about the duel: it happening right after the cultivation would make this a great opportunity to see our new arts in action. especially the wind thief.

about the match-up: it might be more even than we think: given the library scene i think he actually took time and focus to become 'a better boss' meaning, he would get a commander art and learn leadership stuff. I also assume that he isnt formally a Sun retainer yet (i think this is what the 'formal stuff' he has to do is about) and overall, Liling likely gets less money to throw at him than CRX does for us. and even with all we get from CRX, we still needed the mirror money to run maximum GSS all the time.
So overall, i think his talent advantage kind of evens out our resource advantage and his focus on commander stuff evens out our focus on social stuff, so it isnt as bad of a match up as one might expect.

I, Zhen helped. Even foolish Gui helped, so why is everyone so sad?"
"I, Zhen helped
"No, Hanyi didn't need too. Gui

Ling Qi frowned, she wouldn;t exactly put it that way, but he…
wouldn't
Those oddly shaped protrusions emerging from the tops of the hills were not mre boulders.

"I want to fight you," he said bluntly.
worth it. Guess the Ji Rong choice was a pretty good decision after all.
"But first…" he flicked his wrist, and a small silver ring appeared in his palm. He held it out to her.
Oh Shit! Death Flag! Senior Brother really should try to avoid doing these ominous things. It brings bad karma.

what's different about the RR version?

not much as far as I've gotten! (Just got to the latest chapter lol)

Mostly it's cleaning it up I think? The reason I said it was good to read the RR version is that it effectively functions as a reread lol. Was a little fuzzy on the original events.

(And I totally ignored a lot of Lore bits previously ajsjjsjsjsjs. When yrsillar eventually gets to putting the rest on RR, I'll probably sit down to read them then too haha)

"Could burn through," Ji Rong said, raising a fist. "I got a few things for shredding through shitty dreams."

He met Ling Qi's eyes as she straightened up, and she huffed in amusement. Was he thinking of challenging her to a rematch? Guys were like that sometimes she supposed.
Ling Qi's Sincere reaction at him probably didn't fill him with a lot of confidence but that was because Ling Qi doesn't respect him as a person, not his fighting ability. Do we care whether we win or not? The only difference it'll make is his impression of our rivalry.

So is the Dome a nursery of their young? Are the rat things the same as the Shishigui or is this a military installation? Because searching for documents in a base sounds more useful than listening to whatever rumors civilians might talk about. On the other hand this might be our only chance to learn about the Shishigui's culture which could be interesting, regardless of how little Ling Qi seemingly cares for those she considers barbarian.

Ling Qi thinks this is a stable, but im thinking those were kindergartners or elementary students on lunch recess.
