Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

[X] Singularity – Create a gravity well to pull enemies into a single spot for easy shooting.

[X] Vampiric Ray – Forcibly drain another's mana to partially refill your Linker Core. If target is not a mage, they are left permanently weakened and somewhat more frail.

If this gets unlocked we can aim to create some kind of a "continuous through an anchor" version for Endbringer fights.

If SW approves, I want to add

+4 Cartidges to Inventory.

Also, can Taylor start making more cartridges off screen? At the moment, I know that Taylor had lots of cartridges, bit I don't know if she makes them offscreen.

Edit 2: My question had answers. Never mind.

Preparation

"Hey, Sam." I said, "We haven't spent much time together lately, so how about we play a game."

Samantha looked over at me and grinned.

"Sounds like a good idea."

She sauntered over to the game cabinet and pulled out a board.

"What about chess?"

"Sure." I replied

She put it down and we set it up.

We good naturedly squabbled about who was what color. PS intervened, using a random number generator to decide that Samantha was black and I was white. We chose the opposite and settled down to play.

I went first. We played in companiable silence for a few minutes.

"Sam, now that the Mathers branch is gone, they can't master anyone into joining them. The Fallen are going to recruit way less people."

Sam nodded. "Want to help the heroes with the remaining Fallen?"

"Naw. I've had my vengeance. Without Mathers support, the Fallen will crumble. But I've also been thinking of the bigger picture. The Endbringer. Nilbog. The other s class threats running around. I want to talk to Legend, see what I can do to kill a few of the big bads. I am a heavyweight after all."

She nodded.

She grinned massively and move her queen forward, taking out my second pawn. "I win! I killed your second king!"

"Uh, actually, these are the kings." Pointing to a piece with a horse head.

<<Actually, that is a king.>> Perfect Storm said, sounding smug. He pulled up a screen showing the piece with a cross on top.

Sam and I both blushed before laughing.

"Did you even read the rule book?" I ask

"Uhhhh, no."

We laughed some more.

"Good night Sam."

"Night."

I headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I passed Olivia in the way. She wore a robe and her feathers were wet.

"Hey Olivia."

"Hi." She said, smiling softly.

"How is Lacey doing?"

"She's tired after work. She is in bed now."

"Ok. Goodnight."

"Good night."

I entered the bathroom and put toothpaste on my brush. Then I started brushing my teeth. I considered the s class threats. I probably wouldn't be able to kill all of them, but I could take some of them.

For those fights, I would definitely need to use cartridges. I had plenty of cartridges left, and I made a few every now and then. It was still a good idea to stock up.

That reminded me.

<<Storm, what day is it?>>

<<August 18>>

Dammit. I was going to be on my period tomorrow. I check the bathroom closet, and yep we had enough tampons.

<<Is something wrong, mistress?>>

<<I'm on my period soon. It's annoying.>>

<<Birth control can stop periods>>

<<Didn't know that. I will look into it. Thanks>>

I finished brushing my teeth and rinsed my mouth. I then padded down the hallway to the kitchen.

As I passed the living room, I saw Kurt sleeping on the couch. Loudly. Samantha was curled up on her dog bed, and Olivia was sleeping on her head in pet form. I smiled at the pair.

Samantha cracked an eye open.

<<G'Night>>

<<Sleep tight>>

Sam went back to sleep.

I went to the fridge and wrote "birth control for periods?" on the to-do list, then headed to my room.

I undressed, then put on sleeping clothes.

<<Alright storm. Before bed, I want to make a few cartridges. Please get me some some casings. Unseal>>

<<Yes, mistress>>

The room glowed orange. Some casings appeared in my hand. I sat down and focused on one.

"Charge Cartridge!"

A casting sigil formed beneath me, and the casing glowed. Once the orange light faded, it held a bullet.

I was a little woozy from that, so I waited a second to catch my breath.

I repeated this three more times, getting progressively dizzier and weaker. Fuck, I forgot how tiring this was. Screw it, I didn't need to make eight cartridges. I was going to sleep.

"Good Night storm."

"Good night mistress."

Perfect Storm absorbed the cartridges. I patted him then clambered into bed.

And promptly fell asleep

Silently already handles cartridges off screen. Unless we vote for a plan that requires, like, thirty or more cartridges, we are just assuming that Taylor has enough for the job.

However, there are millions of people with Linker Cores, and this means millions of potential mages.

And what? There is like only at most two dozen at most actual mages on Earth and that's counting Taylor and her team. Sure there is the people Taylor have Guardian Beast to, but of them they have less than five actual mages.

This spell does a permanent crippling on normal people we don't know how to reverse.

We don't need it for now and we risk Taylor feeling horrible if she uses it on a regular human that doesn't deserve it.

It drains people not Endbringers. Endbringers are basically machines instead of being living beings.

We would need an energy to mana spell instead for them.

The Dragonslayers had a mage, the Fallen had a mage during the Resort Raid, and the Adept kinda figured out magic long before Calamity Witch started giving people magic.
There are millions of potential mages, and several groups figured out magics existence long before Taylor became a mage. Epoch discovered magic when he was 16, I think. There could be several groups like Epoch that discovered magic independently of Calamity Witch. Theoretically, there could be a tradition of actual magic on earth going back thousands of years, passed down through the generations. This is just my speculation.

I apologize, I forgot to explicitly state that in the post you quoted. I did not fully explain my logic.

About the "Taylor would feel horrible," the idea was to use it on Endbringers, enemy mages, or people who deserve it. Though
we probably won't get in such situations soon, and won't use Vampiric Ray soon, I am antsy to get the spell. Its just my personal preference.

Also, Vampiric Ray would be an excellent weapon against mages.

At the moment, we don't know if Vampiric Ray works on Endbringers, but I will assume it does.

Epoch was interested in magic from the time he was a young boy.

Oh, that's the official story, but not the truth.
Ok, so the Simurgh defeated herself by manipulating Calamity into severely weakening her, or maybe it was a mutually beneficial relat...
Ok fuck it I give up trying to define what the hell happened. I count it as a defeat because Calamity participated lol so she deserves a TROPHY GODDAMMIT
🤪

Simurgh manipulated us to do exactly what she wanted: give her a way to break her chains so she wouldn't be bored when her "brothers" succeeded at making Humanity go extinct.

I mean, there's nothing stopping you from casting it on an Endbringer
The question is, would it have any effect, or would they no-sell it?
I'm thinking of how last time we had core depletion and used cartridges leading to mana poisoning, using this spell could replenish our core's MP, and using Transfer Energy could allow us to replenish the rest of the team who can't use cartridges.

😑

Try it and find out. There is no force in earth or heaven that will get you an answer to that question otherwise.

Bit of a topic change, but I have questions about Unison Devices. Since they are different from a standard Device, does that mean that the immunity to Masters a Device offers would be absent or different when performing Unison (for a non-device mage at least)? Also, since the characters in green (>80) can get extra bonuses when in Unison with the respective Device, is there a negative effect if the Device performs Unison with the characters in red (<20)?
