Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

If we do end up giving Jujak hard light constructs, his staple needs to be making his namesake.
Four car sized birds at a time would be great for rescue, capture, and transport!
This way the power can even technically fit his naming convention, which is convenient.

it saves Silently Watches from having to invent new powers for capes
Another option is for Silently to try and figure out which canonical Cauldron vials were never used due to Scion destroying the lab and scattering the pieces of Eden, like what happened with the Travelers shards. Canary hasn't been mentioned in-story, so it's possible she didn't receive a vial. Not sure about Citrine, but their are five members of Accord's Ambassador's who couldn't have received vials. There's also any of the Parahumans at Cauldron itself. If Scion killed them, does that mean their shards are free and looking for hosts? Lot's of possibilities out there with minor reinventions for new hosts.

[X] Create solid hard-light constructs up to the size of a small car

I can think of several candidates for our pseudo-Green Lantern, and ways to synergize this with our squad.

Explosive runes sounds good for assassination or weak support. But this vial is going to go to someone who wants to be a hero. Don't we have enough people who hate their powers?

Is this exactly what happened with Case 53s in canon?

It is not.

To start off the mindwiping had nothing to do with health concerns whatsoever. Also only people at the very beginning were volunteers, they just started kidnapping people after a while.

Honestly I don't fully remember as it's been a while since I read that part, but I do remember the whole "wipe their minds and drop them in a random city"

They only did that to a very small number, those who were *bought* to be part of the Nemesis program, the overwhelming majority of their victims were just kept in cells in their base with their memories intact. They occasionally experimented on them, but otherwise they just kept thousands of them in cells. For no reason.

Yes this is all incredibly stupid, but so is everything to do with the Fallen and you left that whole incomprehensible mess intact so I don't see why you feel the need the change this and not that.

I think they weren't forcibly abducting dying people, just that from everyone else's perspective they're abducted when in reality they're asked and give consent to be experimented on. (Or they're snatched a moment from inevitable death and if they decline they're returned to said inevitable death.
Yeah, they definitely got consent because if they won the jackpot, you'd have an Eidolon/Doormaker/Clairvoyant tier parahuman with absolutely no reason to cooperate and a lot of reason to fuck them up.

As per Sveta's backstory, they explicitly weren't asking for consent, they just straight up kidnapped people.

And yeah, this doesn't make sense because as you said if they got the next Eidolon or Scion-killing Golden Bullet they were trying for they'd have no reason to do anything but slaughter all of Cauldron. But that's what they did. For some reason. (The reason is WB likes his grimderp)

Doctor Motha definitely seemed the type to throw out all ethical considerations whatsoever; worse, she seems to have come to the conclusion that if anything unethical is worth trying, then the less ethical the action, the better an idea it was to do.

The rationale definitely seems to have been 'We're the Hard Men making Hard Decisions to save the world, therefore an action being hard and evil must make it the best world saving option'

Wildbow gonna Wildbow.

It wouldn't have been difficult to put the candidates they weren't sending to Earth Bet on an unpopulated world, minds wiped, or at least let them get some exercise, as in canon they were kept in their cells at all times.

Given their resources + Doormaker + Contessa finding volunteers would have been trivial.

They could have had a well trained, well co-ordinated army of former military people with a wide range of super-powers ready and waiting to use against Scion.

Instead they had a group of thousands of imprisoned people who despised them waiting in cells doing absolutely nothing.

Because Reasons.

This is a indefinitely long lasting set of explosives with a yield potentially high enough to destroy a house and the ability to choose when it triggers. How about this for an idea. Create paving stones in concert with the City set up to trigger whenever a member of the Slaughterhouse 9 steps on them. Or combined with a good teleporter in an endbringer event have them teleported to where the endbringer's approaching from. Or drop them from above on top of the Endbringer.

The S9 wasn't exactly the point. It was just an easy way of saying "A group of psychotic individuals with superpowers who decide to make lives hell for people to such a degree that everyone agrees that murdering them would be a public good" There are others it could be used against and I'm sure there would be others in future. Hell perhaps the runes could be set to blow up when anything with a kill order touches them.

A thought struck me. @Silently Watches Did any of the c53s in Cauldron's base survive the Scion-ing? It's possible a strong enough brute might have survived simply by being too insignificant for Scion to have bothered with them. This could make a good omake character to add to the cast if somebody better at writing than I wants to give it a try. I used to be better at it, but now what little creative juices I retain are turning to vinegar.

I doubt it, primarily because I don't see Scion letting anyone hooked up to part of Eden to survive.
And then if he did somehow miss them, they likely starved.

To be fair Silently Watches has stated the Triumvirate did try to eliminate the Fallen however there combination of precog and master powers allowed them to either capture heroes sent after them or run away.

Guesses in the spoiler below
[ ] Typical "flying brick"
[ ] Conjure swords and spears that can be thrown at enemies - Fate/Stay Night
[ ] Plant explosive "mines" by drawing something not unlike a runic circle - Explosive Runes spell / Gambit (Xmen)
[ ] Create solid hard-light constructs up to the size of a small car - Green Lantern
[ ] Change into a semi-corporeal form capable of flight and telekinesis - Danny Phantom
[ ] Quick short-range teleporter - Oni Lee

Are you talking about the Fallen as depicted in Worm or the Fallen as depicted in Ward? Because they were only barely mentioned in Worm. From what I know about Ward, what I did with the Fallen is far less incomprehensible than what Wildbow did.

Did you miss the description of skeletons in the cages?

Many people linked to Eden are confirmed to still be alive. Nobody present at Cauldron's base when it blew is confirmed to have survived.

Did you miss the description of skeletons in the cages?

Skeletons in one part of a massive facility means their bodies survived intact enough to leave recognizable skeletons. Whether there are any who were in space that was destroyed by Scion's blast but who were tough enough to survive, or any trapped in places where they only failed to starve because of their powers... there's much to consider before jumping to conclusions. In canon, there were hundreds of cells over several floors, cells that had no bars because the c53s were kept in them by the Custodian, in a base canonically existing on several different worlds. Since the reference to them being on multiple worlds mentioned that it had not been the case until something happened, something that might not have in this setting, the chances of us finding another, intact section of base are low.

Whether finding survivors might be part of the quest line you've commented will be 'flavor of the week' style isn't something I expected you to answer. I was more interested in how open you are to the idea, rather than as an effort to glean spoilers. I might even try writing something up, but very rarely share the results of such.

Let me rephrase. It's been TWO YEARS since Scion died and Lexi/Legend had access to Cauldron's base. No, nobody is still alive.

Okay, since my first Omake wasn't meaty enough for a Training point (and Silently was right, it is a bit bland), I hopefully have made things better with this revamped version. If it earns a point, put it into Mistilteinn please. Comments and corrections welcomed. Sort of sequel can be found here.

Training Scenario: Mistilteinn

"Is Mistress prepared to continue training Extinction Knight based spell now?" Perfect Storm stated, with the barest hint of reluctance in its tone.

"Yes please Storm. The next Endbringer will be Behemoth, and all of my Fire based spells will at best do nothing and at worst be used against other capes. Mistilteinn definitely had an effect on Leviathan, and Behemoth is much slower than him, so it's my best shot at contributing besides Search and Rescue."

"Very well, generating scenario and opponents." As the environment began shifting around them, Perfect Storm continued speaking."Mistilteinn drops mana spikes onto a target that begin petrification from all impaled areas. Speed affected by mass of target. The effect continues until spikes are removed or broken. Effect becomes lethal upon reaching vital organs." Storm explained, detailing the effects of the spell. An open grassland formed before me as the form of a massive bear took shape in the distance. "Spell most commonly used on larger targets due to poor aiming formulas of original casters." Perfect Storm said with an undercurrent of disdain. The bear growled and began charging at me. A quick mental tweaking shifts the spell formula into the variant I'd used on Leviathan.

"Mistilteinn!" Seven points of light appear in the sky before falling in the form of spears that then stab into the right foreleg of the beast. The bear roars as the entire limb is petrified near-instantly, before swinging the limb downward and shattering it, removing all the spears in the process. It growled and continued loping towards me.

"Suggest next volley aimed directly for torso or head to ensure fatality, Mistress." Perfect Storm offered. I nodded and altered the aiming formula again. This time, the spears struck the head and instantly petrified it, stopping the beast in its tracks. "Excellent work. Default targeting aims for limbs and along torso to maximize potential success, but bombardment specialization makes improvements and alterations simple. Mistress's idea to maximize petrification to cause dismemberment quite intelligent, Orianna would be proud of accomplishment." Storm's praise makes me both proud and uncomfortable. Orianna may have been a genius mage, and comparisons with her skill are quite flattering, but by my standards, she is a war criminal.

Neatly shelving my feelings for later, I reply "Thanks Storm, could you generate multiple opponents in differing sizes for the next? I'd like to test as many alterations I can think of while also using my full arsenal." The environment shifted around me, the bear reappearing in the distance surrounded by a quintet of wolves. Completing the opposition were 20 mages hovering above the beasts.

"Please attempt to strike final blow to all opponents with Mistilteinn." Storm stated before the simulation began. The wolves rushed in first, with the bear loping behind them, and the mages began to spread out and flew towards me cautiously in an encircling manoeuvre. I raised my staff and fired off a Wide Area Search, then followed up with Mistilteinn at maximum range directly above me. On a whim, I had the spears fall in a helix path, gently curving around the centre of an invisible cylinder centered on myself. As the wolves approached, the screen for Wide Area Search popped up and I smirked and readied my next spell. The lead wolf lunged at me with jaws agape, and I shot straight up in the air so the Flare Shooter behind me was exposed. It burst in a blast of force and blinding light, blowing the lead wolf backwards and partially blinding the others. With a mental grasp, I altered the trajectories of the spiralling spears so they shot towards the backs of the now stunned wolf pack, with the two largest receiving two spears and the rest receiving one. Smirking, I spun towards the next approaching threat, the bear, only to find its paw smashing down at me. "Strong Shield!" I cried, the magical sigil appearing before me to intercept the blow. It shuddered and lightly cracked, but held its shape. Delving back into the spell formula, I found the spell origin calculations and changed them to something better. The seven points of light appeared in a ring around the bear's neck, and before it could pull back, the spears shot out and into the neck. Stone rapidly consumed the bear's head and chest and it collapsed to the ground.

I turned my attentions to the mage figures, who had surrounded me but kept their distance while the beasts attacked. Their deaths prompted action, and the mages began preparing blaster spells and swooping in to attack. I rotated my Strong Shield to cover my back, burned some cartridges, and unleashed Frost Beam as I flew to engage the attacking mages. I managed to encase six of the mages in ice before my shield broke and I had to focus on evasion. I spun to the side and called up a slew of Flare Shooters to intercept several of the incoming blasts, and summoned my scythe to lock with the blade of a knight-based mage. Mistileinn sprung to life, one piercing the back of my opponent, the rest aiming for the ice-trapped mages. I continued dodging, tanking the fire-based blasts, and launching out flashbang Flare Shooters to disorient the attackers; all the while picking them off with Mistilteinn.

When I had reduced my attackers to four mages, I paused to catch my breath, my mana reserves low and my Barrier Jacket hanging on by a thread. The remaining combatants all flew straight up at top speed, their Jackets converting to a high-altitude. As I zoomed in to view them, they all began charging a long-range Buster spell, and I only could pull off 2-3 more spells. Hovering in place, I readied my next few actions, as any mistake would have me fail the scenario. The four Buster spells of Ice and Lightning (they had learned Fire was pointless against me) streaked down on my floating form, and to any observers, it would appear I had been consumed by the blast. Fortunately, my Teleport spell worked perfectly, placing me directly behind my attackers with Mistilteinn already queued up, and before they could turn around, the white spears punctured there weakened defenses and brought the training to a close. Gasping and sweating, I raised Perfect Storm with a yell of triumphant joy as he sung my praises and ended the simulation.

Well, there were case 53s like Weld, to whom being trapped for two years would be incredibly inconvenient... and very much not fatal. (Weld's body works pretty much entirely because his Shard says it does, and so it doesn't really require food, water, or even moving.)

Possibly: from memory, DM disputes this and Sveta is going from dreams. So it's plausible they didn't. And they definitely didn't start doing so, with the confirmed case (some interlude) asking permission and being granted. Not, you know, full disclosure permission or anything. But it was a dying guy (or going to die guy?), Contessa asked if he wanted to live, he replied yes.

Edit: When you consider how Alexandria can be with the truth, what she told Calamity Witch seems perfectly reasonable. The whole truth? No, but near enough.

IIRC Weld does need to 'eat' just not food. His everything is replaced with a pseudometal substitute, and does need replenishment.
