Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

[X] Accept one vial and trade the other for one favor. Vote to pick the vial will follow.

Take the pink and sparkly one, accept no substitutes. Whoever we give this to is joining up with the magical girl team, after all.

Hmm, good point. I'd sort of confused them, given Pentragram was done in game by using the method from plan pokemon. Give everybody a Furry and let them figure it out.
Well, the idea behind Plan Pokemon is to create a Unison Device or somehow otherwise distribute the information of how to create Guardian Beasts to all potential mages. Societal advancement via chaos, essentially.
Note I'd personally get a kick out of seeing someone who really, really wanted to be a doctor but just didn't have the right mind for it. Someone who could study and study and just not do good enough at pre-med classes in college. But wait, magic doesn't need those classes, it needs math..
For anything beyond trauma (and even then if it gets really gnarly), you're still going to want those healers to have AT LEAST a good grasp of anatomy, physiology, likely histology/pathology, microbiology, and skills with interviewing patients, physical exams, and interpreting radiology exams. Being ABLE to heal does jack-all if you don't know WHAT you're healing.

Tim would not learn anything from of them, and it would destroy the contents of the vial. That would be such a waste.

Interesting that Shaseyu found this quote, but I haven't seen @Silently Watches chime in yet to refute the voters saying "One of Each" yet or confirm that this quote is still accurate? It was about 400 pages ago and I believe a bit before the Mutagen stuff from analyzing Crawler, so I'm curious if their stance has changed any on whether theres /anything/ useful to be learned... Especially with at least one suspiciously related Rare Skill in Laura (I feel like we've seen others mentioned, if only in Unison Devices like Simurgh having magic similar to their Parahuman shard, but can't think of one) to make you wonder if thats a development path for him.

Otherwise though, do we actually have any useful favors in mind to be bartering over, especially with the muddle of Legend framing it as a generous gratitude shared to ally BUT we could've kept all this without showing them in the first place making bartering a bit weird?

RE: Danny.... its real misleading to harp on "We've been CONFIRMED we get screwed for skipping quests" and totally ignore the equal "we get screwed for leaving quests unfinished, also this is a time-management game with not everything doable" >_> As far as I'm concerned as a voter the topic of Danny isn't even open until we've finished our current quest lines. And even then (thus my vote when we hadn't started one) I really have zero interest in him compared to other activities, not least because of the note we left him on and our fairly stable status right now.

Is it an insult to Lacey to keep trying to run back to our "real" parent when she selflessly took us in, and even seeing the danger from Bakuda's glass-bomb at old apartment didn't shake her willingness to be our Guardian? Danny and Taylor weren't even on especially good terms or very close by the end of it, whats it say to Lacey and Samantha (our other parental-figure) to cling to our "real" dad just because theres something "special" about blood-relatives?

I may have changed my mind on part or all of this. Or I may not have. That was a year ago almost to the day, and a lot of things can happen in that time.

I won't get into the meat of this, but I will say next chapter will feature Lacey and give a little bit of relevant information.

And yet Maclibuin was able to walk into a hospital and provide healing to children with serious problems. Lacey has also been able to find work with hospitals.

At a minimum I expect someone in that situation could work with doctors who could tell them what to do. Add in some on-the-job training (or night courses or whatever) and they could build a career out of it. Or, heck, just get a device specialized for scanning, assisting in diagnosis, and healing.

It's not an insult to not want your dad to permanently live life in a 50 First Dates scenario jesus.

Also I'd hardly think Lacey would begrudge anybody reconciling themselves with family given she is patching things together with her husband who ran off to fight a gang war and only came back when all his buddies died.

Wow, that's a gross oversimplification. He was able to provide healing to children who were specifically chosen for him by a physician who actually knew what was going on and tested his powers based on what Maclibuin knew. Lacey has also been able to find work… working under physicians who know what's going on and can determine whether or not her power will actually be useful in that case.

Once again, spells are an excellent TOOL, but tools don't matter if you don't know when to use them and when you need a DIFFERENT tool. The very fact that Physical Heal says it heals "mild to severe INJURIES" should have been enough to tell you that they aren't walking through the hospital healing everyone they see.

Pffft, just consult Dr. Wikipedia, that's what my surgeon friend does :V
She actually is a highly trained professional who spent a decade to learn her expertise and another half dozen years of experience on top of that in the field.

I'm not sure at what point I suggested the potential magical healers not work with people who knew what they were doing. In fact the second paragraph of the post you replied to mentions doing what Maclibuin and Lacey are doing (working with doctors who do know what they are doing), studying to try and get the necessary knowledge, or getting a device that could tell them what to do.

Is this the QM saying that they don't want to have a proliferation of healing mages doing "fun and expansive things" to the quest or is this an honest miscommunication?

Danny is dead, maybe we can bring him back to life if we try, but I don't think it's worth the effort.

I'm with the "take one to have Tim analyze it" team on this one

Joined in rather late so not sure if it still okay to vote

You are looking in the wrong places then. Sending firefighters, teachers, etc into conflict against parahumans and other criminals is dumb.
You're interpreting me wrong. No intention to send them intentionally to conflict. No more than you'd send every gun owner into combat. But the chance that a homeowner has a gun will decrease the chance a robber wants to go for home invasion by a factor of ten by most prison interview studies. Para's are 1 in 8000. Mages could be as high as 1 in 20. Higher if we start selling mutagens. Who really wants to test those odds?

…it implies that you either seriously overestimate what the one spell Mac and Lacey have can do or you seriously underestimate how complicated medicine actually is. If you want the best magical healers, you're going to need people with BOTH magic and extensive training. Mac and Lacey don't have the latter, and a few months of on the job training or night courses at the local community college won't AND CAN'T give that to them.

Half and half is the best of both worlds.

Still a bit sad to see a lack of discussion on what Favors we might even want, no matter that we are not voting on that yet.

How about two "Guilt-Free Poaching" coupons :V ?

All he has to do is build portals that connect places on this world, and he and Dragon would be rolling in cash. Nobody sane likes flying on commercial airlines
That's how you get ants black ops teams, Taylor.

The head of the Protectorate stares at you for a long moment, then his eyes turn to Alexandra. She, to your surprise, is neither suspicious nor upset. She actually has a smirk on her face that looks almost smug
