Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

I am impressed by just how much my plan won. I knew it was winning, but not by how much.

[X] Make Lacey a regular mage
The circumstances changed enough that we can justify undoing what was, quite frankly, a bad decision.
And Standstill, who's already used to running a supporting power (and has a hyper-protective Guardian Beast) is a good shout for the support template that is Infinite Enhancement.

Laura's result is entirely expected to me and really is just poking us with how we shouldn't complain about not having recruits when we never scan anyone. Obviously she's not getting a template, but Armed or Intelligent? Melee or Ranged?

Something for later.

Hm, for Laura... @Silently Watches which device would be better for her? Intelligent or Armed? Does she prefer up close or range/midrange?

My preference is for Intelligent Device since she has been ranged support. But she might want to make a clean break with her past Villain identity by going close range combatant.

So whatever device is chosen, Laura's going to need a solid base of 4 spells to start with.

A basic shooter spell, flight, some kind of barrier, and for the last, maybe healing since she honestly do want to help people and healing is unambiguously a good way of helping people. A good way of helping solidify her into our camp. Let her heal children in hospitals for example.

She can get other utility spell like WAS later with her own exp.

In my opinion, template mages should be used primarily for characters that are going to be part of the core cast and get large amounts of screen time, Lacey is secondary support character at best.

Yeah. Templating her was a mistake. I'm thinking Standstill might be a better match for IE template.

This would be hilarious for reasons you don't understand.

Either one would work beautifully. Do you want her to be the ice version of Nanoha, Fate, or Signum?

[X] Ice Fate for Laura. Taylor IS Fire Nanoha, we're missing our icy Fate. GIB IT TO US. GIB IT TO US.

(And when Nanoha and Fate meet the pair, they'll *know* why Teena is *laughing*.)
Yeah, and it's not *much* editing, IIRC.

and *BWAHAHAHAHAHA* AAA? WITH Ice affinity. Ah, Icequeen, you will be BEFREINDED. Sadly, the Kay Shipping is just more intense. "She's fire, you're ice, it's a match made in Heaven!"

Taylor is S+, but she's augmented. They do exist but rare as fuck, and usually *trained* at that.

Yeah, For Laura, a template is a *waste*. Give her a device, and start her on the path of cooling off the Firebug.

Retconning is never all that much fun, but tbqh Lacey was pretty peripheral anyway and if we're bringing the-cape-formerly-known-as-Standstill into the coven she's probably a better fit.

Also,
"Winter Hill doesn't allow any other capes in their territory. They even fight off the Protectorate when they try to muscle in. I live in the middle of their turf, so it was either I join up, my family has to up and leave, or the next time they saw me, things would get… ugly. My powers aren't all that strong. Any one of our other capes can and has kicked my ass. So yeah, I joined up. I would have to be stupid not to."
I would like to propose we put the boots to Jotunn at the first available opportunity. Danny wasn't a great dad but he sure as hell wasn't willing to beat down his kid for the crime of having powers and not wanting to sign on with his little mafia. The gentleman villain bits were fun in the beginning but now I'm on Team Fuck This Guy In Particular.

What are the templates that Immortal Assimilation Engine has, anyways?

Calamity Witch, Extinction Knight, Whatever IE stands for....

We've already fucked Jotunn by proxy. It'll just take time for him to realize how much he's fucked as Project Pentagram proceeds forward and seismic shift happens in the city's cape scene.

IAE has four templates.

Calamity Witch, Extinction Knight, Infinite Enhancement, and Transcendent Gadgeteer.

Movement to the side turns out to be Kayleigh tapping Samantha on the shoulder. You pull off your earmuffs in time to hear her say, "You do know you're supposed to be shooting at your own target, right?"

"I, uh, was trying to."
And that's why I wanted to give her a grenade launcher or something similar as a ranged option. Something that doesn't need much aiming beyond pointing it at enemy's general direction.

"We both know the only reason you joined Winter Hill in the first place is because you didn't have any other choice. Now maybe you do!"

You wave your hand to get their attention. "What do you mean, you didn't have any other choice?"

Kayleigh blanches
Yes, Kayleigh, you just blabbered an important secret of your friend. Again. This time at least it was actually accidental. :eyeroll:

Ice Mana Conversion Affinity.

Did you roll for it or was it preplanned?
The fact that a cape with Ice powers just happened to have Ice Rare Skill... o_O

Or maybe exactly because she has support powers, she wou

...Is it because IE template has a spell identical to Standstill cape powers?

Keeping Lacey as a template mage is probably the single most wasteful thing we can ever do in this quest.

I really want to give that template to Standstill. She should get out of that unhealthy environment ASAP. and we would also give the template to an actually intresting and entertaining character that would also(hopefully) mix well with our main cast.

Seconded!

Proxy is all well and good, but obsoleting Winter Hill through the use of K9 Guardian Beasts is a little impersonal. I'm looking for something more personal, the moment where Taylor finds out who Laura's dad really is and proceeds to engage in a righteous beatdown that the abusive little prick has well and truly earned.

But I'm just a fella who's mad about bad dads, so YMMV.

Some of that story was Laura covering for Kayleigh's slip up. Jotunn never physically beat her down. Mentally...

Oh, and she wasn't making up the threats, either. That's exactly what Winter Hill has done to capes who lived on their turf in the past.

The chances of this being random are SO low. No, this was 100% planned.
The good kind of hilarious, or the bad kind of hilarious? Either way, I know what I want. Bring on the hilarity.
The good kind.

While the Fallen are our primary target for this arc, I wouldn't be adverse to crushing Winter Hill with our mage squad as either a target of opportunity or as warm up to going on our rampage against the Fallen.

And guys. We really should think up of our team or organization name by the time we go after the Fallen in earnest. Because taking down the Fallen is a chance for massive PR gain for our nascent group.

[X] Make Lacey a regular mage

It's a bit unfortunate that Lacey didn't work out too well as a combat ally, but magic gave her a source of income and protection she can use without feeling guilty. Since Kayleigh has a D-Rank Core, maybe we could give her Extinction Knight or Infinite Enhancement? I'm assuming that we won't give Laura a Template, given her natural gifts, but that does still leave the question of what to do with Formerly Standstill since we want to help her out. Giving her a Template seems like a nice way of helping her out, especially if it's one that grants her a power similar to what she's used to using.
