Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Alright so this is between [] Return and [] Rescue, and im leaning towards []Return.
Short version, it'll be real bad if we screw up our own position while we're out here trying to fix everyone elses. The overall effort is served better by having a strong point to fall back to than being a collection of sinking ships.

Longer version, our fellow officer seems to be, if not in good health, out of immediate danger. Going to try and save him now is unnecessary. Either he gets back safe because there are no other problems, or there ARE problems and we would be tied up helping him with it and keeping us away from our actual responsibility which would be catastrophic for the entire effort. Bro has to prove his rank today because we have bigger fish to fry.

Word will get out, if less rapidly without us hitting the messenger corps directly. So that's another issue that solves itself. The major concern there is whether or not the 'assassin' is still in play and if getting word out would even affect the result of any given encounter. Too many unknowns for me, and on a more personal level, if the assassin is still in play then our post is in danger too.

With so many problems with unclear solutions or uncertain success routes, I'm inclined to just secure what we have and then plot a course to victory from there. Art of war and all that.

On a more selfish note, if there are going to be any more casualties I'd rather it not be Zhengui or Xiulan.

The higher ups would probably be interested in the new assassination tactics employed by the raiders as well as the qi traces. Since Ling Qi isn't a tracking specialist and isn't in tip-top shape, it might be better to hope that higher realms have the tools to better investigate what happened.

I suppose there might be the possibility that in getting the drop on the assassin, Ling Qi could deprive them of the stronger parts of their arsenal for the fight and use that to her advantage. But there seems to be too many details that need to work well in pursuing the assassin to feel like there is a decent chance of success.

I'd definitively go for "Return".
"Rescue" is basically meaningless (aside from that dude's possible life: sad for that one dude, but one life is far from worth risking a while village and it's extra defense forces. To say nothing of our friends), best thing to do is simply give his position to the people around so they can send a team to rescue him.
"Investigate" is the high risk high reward option, but i'm unwilling to risk Zhengui, Xiulan and the other nameless village and military people of "our" village on this long odds bet on a rather subpar skill.

Yeah, return seems like the option to take.
Both villages are as safe as they are going toget without us staying here permanently, but our actual post is in danger.
There probably won't be much barbarian presence, if at all.
But the incoming spirits are likely to become an issue, and i don't think we should gamble with the village safety.
Assassin will have ran off by now, and the other offier can walk here on their own time, we are in a hurry.

I am very happy with the choice to stabilize vil 3 first. It turned out to be a mild issue that we could solve quickly which others would have struggled and eventually beaten but with much heavier losses.
Vil 1 next. We're functionally a messenger here, but our actual job is to be in vil 1 and there will be an imminent threat. We can give a few orders before we leave but honestly our job is now vil 1 for sure. No questions or debate, no time to make sure the scout in wilds can survive on their own, maybe gesture the direction the officer is in to the underlings and get the hell back to friends. We are quite competent at spiritual communication and if Lanlan starts off with fire n flames the panic can only get worse lol

Anyone memoried the lay of the land? How will we arrive to our village from here on the third village? Will we pass by the second village?

Time to go home. Anything else is bordering on neglecting our area of operation. The assassin is big kid investigator problem and the scout is a good luck but thems the breaks type of situation.

Lan Lan is about to have a whole heap o trouble
