I like this plan, it also has the option to pass it to them down the line. In the long term, I'm fine with someone friendly hitting the magic number and then merging with them. Reveal when California revolts more like. Should take a bit of heat off them and make it seem like a coordinated, territory wide coalescing of disparate American successor states making true attempt at reunifying the fragments of the United States. Meaning Russia and Japan will have to spread out their effort more instead of trying to focus down California.

People who voted to keep it a secret, could you folks swap your vote to the 'keep it a secret but let FCNY know on the sly' option? I personally really don't want more Russian attention at this time. We can always reveal the damn thing LATER if we so wish. Hell, if we want to go with the tricentennial reveal we should delay for a turn.

I really would not like it if Russia decides that with a revivalist state effectively all but stating that its going to rebuild the United States (and has the results to show that its not joking) means that it needs to go and decisively end the Victorian civil war fast and bulk up Victoria to crush this new threat ASAP. A single Russian division or Spetnaz force showing up can decisively crush the crusaders and let Blackwell jump start his reforms for round 2 against the Commonwealth.

Folks. We are even looking at food shortages if we roll poorly in the next couple of turns. We don't need Russia to turn up its shenanigans against us further. Can we not jump the gun please? Again. We can god damn reveal the thing LATER. After we've put out some of the fires we've got smoldering in the background.

I hope people voting for revealing the DoI understand that it *will* move the Commonwealth up significantly in the 'to-do' list of both Japan and Russia. And one potential path that Russia could take to strangle us in the crib is go full court press on getting Victoria back on its feet and bulking it up instead of leaving Victoria to its civil war.

Just because Alex decided to tell Victoria to clean up its own mess a bit ago doesn't mean that he won't change his mind if it seems like a viable successor state seems to be gaining the legitimacy needed to start exponentially expanding into the former United States using revivalist sentiments. Russia doesn't need to spare much to rapidly end the civil war in Victoria (no more than a single armored division) and kick start its rebuilding and set up the new model army to crush the Commonwealth with.

Our opponents are not locked into one path. They can and will react to our actions.

And again, I will stress this point again and again. We can reveal the damned thing any time we choose to do so if we decide to keep it under wraps for now. Getting Russian and Japanese attention now is foolhardy when we can hold off on it until later when we are in a better position after having solved the refugee problem and straightening out our infrastructure.
