Mmm, yes? I don't get why you told me that.
A couple of reasons. The first was that the post was a tad ambiguous regarding which spirit was used, and the second was that another post pondered whether a diviner spirit was asked politely to communicate with us. I don't... particularly know which spirit is the diviner spirit and your post was ambiguous enough that my initial impression of the post was that it was saying that another spirit was being asked. As such, I posted my own interpretation.

Now, on to some reactions!

Even now, her dantian burned and her head pounded from the strain, but… it really was just an extension of what she had already learned. In dispersing her aura to blend into the background and hide herself, she was already taking the first step. Still, to do the same with her actual body…

"Are you thinking that bodies are more important than spirits? I'm hurt Ling Qi," Sixiang laughed, sounding flippant even though she could feel the spirit's tension and watchful intent as they peered out at the world through her. "Well I guess it is a big step for a meat-person."

Ling Qi wrinkled her nose at the gross appellation, even if it wasn't wrong.
Reminds me of HK-47's insistence on referring everyone to meat-bags. How can we even stand to have so much water sloshing around with every step we take?

Regardless, this is a pretty big step in figuring out how to operate without a body and be simply spirit. Which I think is a pretty good skill development. But I've already talked about that before. No, now we can bully Sixiang into getting a body! After all, if a meat person can develop techniques to disperse a body, then a spirit person can learn techniques to condense a body! Probably a lot harder for Sixiang though to do the latter.

There was no good in doing that now, Ling Qi decided, listening to the chatter in her head. She would just have to stick with her choice and hope it was the right one. Moving at her full speed, Ling Qi left the impossibly high mountains far behind her in short order, descending to fly and then to run among the little peaks and valleys that were their primary assignment. Reaching her subordinates did not take long after that.
And sometimes, that's the best you can do. Make a choice and stick to it. Waffling on a choice can be even more detrimental than picking a choice with unfortunate consequences. Not always, but sometimes.

She frowned, looking toward Chang He, the oldest of the three. "I would hear your thoughts. As well as any advice you have on defensive measures," she said politely, triggering some muttering from Hanyi in her thoughts.
Poor Hanyi, seeing her bigger sister actually take into account other people who don't matter. I'm sure she'll learn eventually that simply because someone is weaker, doesn't mean that they can't have useful things to say, or do.

Mo Lian, show me the map you've compiled already, and we will see what I can do to speed things along. If we can finish the main survey in good time, we can find a defensible location and use that as a base while we strike out at individual problem zones. From here on, we're staying together."
It looks like we'll be able to still help with the survey aspects of our job! Sucks that with the barbarian threat lurking to the south we won't be spreading out and doing things faster, but at least we have a very good reason to be cautious and careful in the upcoming days. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what areas Ling Qi considers problems zones and what impact our actions will have on the main force as it moves through the area.

[X] Fire and Water (Gu Xiulan and Shen Hu)

Gu Xiulan isn't receiving enough spotlight lately, let's remedy this terrible oversight.

This, truly, is the answer to all of the current votes!

[X] The Snake and the Spider(Bai Meizhen and Bao Qingling)
[X] Needle and Thread (Li Suyin and ???)
[X] Fire and Water (Gu Xiulan and Shen Hu)

Since I can't decide, and I want to vote, I shall vote for all of them!

[] The Snake and the Spider(Bai Meizhen and Bao Qingling)
Best mom plus best girl, what's not to like.

Edit: Completely misread the option. Too tired for coherent voting.

Wew. Tough choice. Bai scene is always a delight, and fire girl and mud boi sounds like an amusing meet up, but its been some time since we heard from Suyin.

[X] The Snake and the Spider(Bai Meizhen and Bao Qingling)

I legit want all of them, but I figure the other two choices are better as interactions with us, rather than isolated from. Ie, I want them for the relationship building. On the other hand, I really want to see what the Bai say when we AREN'T there. It's a bit selfish, but im pretty sure there are things about clan and Cai that will not be brought up otherwise.

I sorta expect Xuilan to be developing a bit of a crush, and I'm kinda worried that Suyin is treading close to techniques the duchess would regard as proprietary. I'm also kinda worried that if Suyin demonstrates a use for the tainted materials, there may be a great blight in the empire as all the clans cultivate tainted areas in a prisoner's dilemma.
