It was honestly kind of a tossup for me between whether we see if Wendimon can talk down his probable superiors, or we warn Ogremon the villagers and the Bulwark forces. I went with Ogremon and the Bulwark forces because I honestly don't know how Wendimon might react or how his superiors may act. Bulwark will act to defend the village though, and Ogremon will probably suit up to have a pointed word or three with the Gloaming forces. He's the caretaker now, so technically he decides village policy.
Bringing in the town feels like it will result in the most Mon casualties.
The ambush plan lets us turn the tables on the assholes who ambushed us earlier. I like it for that. On the other hand, the temple might not be able to stand against Valvmon.
Going to Wendimon would be... interesting. Wendimon is personally independent enough that he might decide to go along with us, while Rinkmon might be convinced to see similarities between this attack and what happened to her village. It is the mystery box option. It tantalizes me with the story options that might unfold from it.
[X] Wendimon may be able to prevent this situation from spiraling out of control. Find him and explain the situation. The officer might be able to end the conflict before it begins. At least you hope he can, the champion might join their attack instead.
I feel like there isn't really anything Wendimon can do in this situation.
Yes he's an officer, but an attack of this magnitude would certainly be under the direction of an officer of higher rank than him.
I feel like the main reason to go to Wendimon is if we think this is a trap designed to make the Host look bad. If we think the intel we've been given is a lie.
The main hazard of the ambush plan is their whole squad is downshifted Ultimates, which we already had difficulty with when half their team are playing Champion.
I'd also note the village option lets us spin it as the Host rescuing Baromon...and the Ogremon points to them having their own downshifted Ult surprises

I'm thinking that Wendimon might decide that the attack is foolish and could end up turning the Bulwark against the Gloaming. While the temple is technically outside the Bulwark's protection, they might not like being rule lawyered like that.
That said, I'm not going to campaign too strongly for that option. I'm voting for it out of curiosity, rather than anything like certainty that it is the right way to go.
[X] Your group could use what's time left to to warn Ogremon and see about rallying the town to help against what's coming. After all they really seem to care for their founder.

If there's gonna be a small army of champions, I don't want to let the town be taken by surprise if worst comes to worst. Plus getting the information out there means Gloaming can't just bury this operation even if they succeed.
Still, *Boy* picks it all up fast, picking up on the subtle changes much speedier than anything you managed as a Drimogemon. Much like Agnimon was, he's a natural when it comes to combat.
All the training with him, it all feels... vaguely familiar.
I want to learn Tyrant Fist so Verge can learn Lion King Fist from a Leomon and then merge it with his Ardat Nazar Nail Virus/Corrosion and create MadLeomon's Fallen Lion King Fist
I don't know why but Verge having hyper letal movies and being the most caring of the team is highly amusing to me
[X] Sparks thinks the most practical options will be to inform the temple and set an ambush Valvemon and the *Stalkers*. But you haven't even been there and don't know what forces the old mystic even has besides Hanumon.

As I rather not bank on everything on just our squad being badass when we know a squad of ults are running about with incoming backup of unknown numbers and power.
Feels like it would make more sense to alert the town and help them work with their leader who will get called about this once word gets out. Since I can't see us telling Ogremon and friends will not have our info not getting to their leader soon and in a hurry shortly after.

For Wendimon, another Pro is that if this is all a fraud intended to trick us into attacking the temple, it results in the quickest and cleanest resolution.
Another Con though is that he might get ordered by a superior to aid the attack.
Similarly, if the news of an incoming Gloaming assault is indeed a ruse, then rousing the villagers makes us lose a lot of cred.
So I see it as Wendimon and Ogremon being the best options for "The Agent is a liar" and "The Agent is telling the truth" respectively, while laying a trap is the neutral option.
The main hazard of the ambush plan is their whole squad is downshifted Ultimates, which we already had difficulty with when half their team are playing Champion.
Actually it was just the one member of their team that was a champion, the other three fought as Ultimates. It's just that the Bastemon used a BlackTailmon attack asnher opener.
Though guys, something else I'd suggest considering is potential enemy squad size. Pit's current squad of 4 mon would be considered understaffed.

I'll be closing the vote some time tomorrow but in the meanwhile it would probably be a good idea for me to clarify Karatenmon's objective/plan.
She does know that Verge and co really shouldn't break the non-aggression pact, not publicly at least. So by grabbing Baromon, before the Valvemon came they'd get around that. She gets to complete her mission and they get no penalty since the town isn't allied with any faction. At worst they fight the Stealth squad again, but the squad has a better chance since she's there to support things.
Pit telling her to shove off wrecks that.
The Host has no authority over BaroTown or the temple, so Pit attacking the Valvemon would be a fight the Host started. Which would put breaking the non-aggression pact on his shoulders.
The enemy Stealth Squad attacked in private and had two members intentionally putting the narrative out that they're mercenaries/bounty hunters, giving the Gloaming some deniability in the matter. But it also means Verge and Co can fight them without worry.
One issue is that honorable as Wendimon might be...he's with the Gloaming, I doubt this is the first case of "higher ups order distasteful action" he had to face.
Its rarer in the Host only because our lot are mostly fanatics who don't ask questions.

They could very well be ordered to help. The Stealth Squad are in a similar position to Agents in that they can conscript soldiers to help with their missions. But Wendimon is a ranked officer, which Verge thinks could give him some leeway... maybe.
On the other hand, the Valvemon coming will most likely have an officer on board as well. Whether they're ranked higher than lieutenant though...

"Hrm, we could hit up Baromon's temple." Sparks suggests, which immediately earns him Pit's not so friendly attention. "Not to attack, we'll head there and ambush those sneaky jackasses when they come for Baromon. Give'em a taste of their own medicine."
"I do not believe we should take that road." You say, earning a surprised glance from the armor mon. "We know little of his temple or its protectors aside from Hanumon, the Valvemon's forces will outnumber us and there's no guarantee that enemy forcess will not detect us."
"Tch, what's your suggest then huh? Just run up and punch'em"
"No. So much as I do not wish the townsmon here hurt, we should inform them of the situation through Ogremon. They could mayhaps assist us in dealing with the presented threat."
"Agreed. We shall follow your plan Verge. May the Lord bring us fortune."
"Er, hold on a sec Lord Pit, in case ya didn't notice your wings are..."
"Ah. Yes advisor..." The corona of molten gold evaporates, leaving the angel floating *normally* "I shouldn't waste heaven's fury. I shall wield it to strike down our enemies when the time comes!"
Conserving energy for battle is a good tactic. But what about Beat? Ogremon rendered his chitin nearly shattered...
You pause, glancing over the black Stingmon and then blink. The cracks in his armor are gone. It takes you a moment to remember that Pit's technique isn't limited to one target. Meaning your stoic friend must have caught whatever wasn't being absorbed by Karatenmon. The darkened Stingmon is the first to move, pivoting back towards Ogremon's daycare.
"Hn. We should hurry. Night is approaching."
=
"Alright, what gives?" Ogremon growls stepping free from his domicile. "I send you choir boys back to the fort and you come back within ten damned minutes. So-" The champion lifts one hand up to grasp at the club on his belt. "-why by the sacred Ten are you idiots back?" You tense up at the threatening tone, instinctively readying yourself to fight. However Pit interrupts before anything can transpire.
"Caretaker Ogremon." He begins without a hint of hesitation or fear. "We have received information from Agent Karatenmon stating that the Accursed Gloaming will use a Valvemon to strike Baromon's temple.
"A Valvemon?" The caretaker snarls, "Necro Eclipse. Those bookworms'll get their heads kicked in." You tilt your head at the odd phrase, but that curiosity is driven away as the champion withdraws his club and points it at your leader. "And you holy dolts are telling me why? If you bastards think you can trick me you've got something painful coming." His eyes narrow in heavy suspicion, but the virus doesn't attack, instead waiting for an explanation.
Do we have a way to prove it to him?.. No. Just Karatenmon's word until it comes. Then how can we-
"Pfft." Sparks snorts with clear derision and pushes the weapon away. "Don't be an friggen' idiot. It's not like we have anything to gain by warning ya. Lord Pit is choosing to help your mon out here." The Flamewizardmon takes another step forward before visibly rolling his eyes. "I'm guessing this place probably doesn't want its precious founder to be snatched away by those *stalkers*. So unless ya want to be the cause of it, listen to the angel."
"Feh, damned Punk." Ogremon mumbles shooting your friend a heated stare.
"Prick." Your friend snaps, glaring right back at the taller mon. After a few moments the caretaker rolls his shoulders and lowers his club.
"Fine, I'll get the place roused. But I still don't trust any of you."
"Our thanks Ogremon." You murmur with a respectful bow-only for the green champion to wave it off.
"Don't bother with that Gryzmon, fighting the Gloaming is what you do. This serves your spirits be damned purposes just as much as ours. Feh, ah right. I should probably mention this too..." The Ogremon's serious face warps into a leering grin. "I know exactly where those Stalkers are holed up."
"Lord in heaven! You do?!"
"You're damned right. Those *sneaky* bastards thought they were being oh so clever when they set up in the jungle. They didn't think anymon could find them. Feh, didn't even occur to them that the mon who set up that safehouse up could still be alive. Here." With that the virus digimon digs a piece of folded paper out of his belt, then flicks it over to Sparks. "This'll tell you where it is. "
I see. Then let us hope they are still inside preparing for tonight.
"Sparks, can you lead us to this *safehouse?*"
"Hrmph... yeah." Sparks murmurs, still carefully scanning the map over. "Tis not far. But we're gonna have to leave through the south gate first."
"Then that is what we will do. They shall not escape the Lord's Wrath this night." He turns allowing the caretaker a brief nod, but the Ogremon waves again.
"Don't thank me yet. You still have to fight them... but by the ten maybe you can actually pull it off." With that the humanoid mon shakes his head and turns away, only pausing to raise one clenched fist over his shoulder. "Feh, good luck, you'll need it."
Our last battle was a tie. I found victory, as did Sparks. But now...Pit has changed. I believe we can find victory.
"We are leaving to clash with them once again?"
"Yes my stalwart comrade. Ready yourselves now. We shall meet the Lord's enemy in open battle and smite them where they stand!"

*Ogremon's safehouse* isn't exactly what you had pictured while on the journey there. You'd imagined a sturdy camouflaged, structured that was nonetheless impeccably maintained. However the weathered building Sparks leads your party to is nothing like that. The inhabitants have cleared away the nearest twenty meters of brush, leaving the large, two story cabin sticking out from the ancient jungle instead of blending in. Its heavily weathered walls have degraded enough to the point where they've had to be supported by several new logs and there's a colossal tree actually growing out of the farthest portion.
And what's more, judging from the surrounding wear and tear, said foliage was clearly planted after the place was built.
"Spirits below, how old Is that toothy prick?" You're curious about it too, but with the enemy so close it's time to make preperations. There's a technique you haven't been making much use of and with them unaware of your presence so far, this is the perfect time to use it.
Muscle Charge.
"-gen seriously, that place looks like it's-"
"Silence advisor." Pit states, raising his rod up across his body. "They come."
"Pfft, Yeah right, like ya can really just tell-"
*Bang*
The cabin's clearly replaced front door is thrown open, leaving a thin green figure to step out.
Their leader.
"Most impressive that you found us." The enemy Stingmon muses, popping both stingers free. "Thank them for coming, It saves us the trouble of hunti-" whatever he was about to say is cut off as Beat rushes him and fires off a hail of needles, forcing him to take flight. "-again as a champion? So be it *Beat* I'll defeat you in this form yet again!"
Good luck. May you find victory in this... as a champion? What does that-
"Nyah! Don't forget about me!" Bastemon laughs, sprinting through the door on all fours. "I'm looking forward to playing with you again *Pit*!"
Your leader doesn't rise up to her taunt, he just raises his staff, bursts into fire and soars forward with a roar.
"Pid Speed!" This time it's the Ultimate whom gets caught off guard, as the angel's shoulder slams right into the womon's veil and then proceeds to carry the stunned beast digimon through the building. Breaking through the first wall before exiting out the back.
"Hehe. Nice." Sparks leaps up onto your left shoulder with an approving chuckle.
"Indeed." However you don't get much time to appreciate the counter before a mechanical voice shrieks from the hole.
"Plug Bomb!" A cluster of small red objects fly towards you through the opening, not particularly fast but it's still easier for you to simply block the stream of smoke-trailing projectiles with a paw. They slam into your war-gauntlet with enough combined force to shake the limb, though not hard enough to cause damage through vibrations either.
Which means another Ultimate. A mechanical digimon.
"Gr... you're here mutant! Good! I wanted to pay you back for my leg!"
And there is the WereGarurumon.
Your previous opponent explodes out from the second floor and glares. You return an excited grin and rear up, taking a defensive stance.
"Very well. You are welcome to try in battle."
"Hwee, hwoo!" Sparks whistles loudly from your left shoulder, his face turned up into a mocking grin.
"N-not you again!" The enemy's LadyDevimon, mumbles peering out the hole on the second floor. "Guys C-can I sit this one out? Please?"
"Grr. We talked about this! Greenhorn or not you're still a part of this squad! For Daemon's sake have some pride!"
"Heh, what's wrong floozie. Ya miss me?" Your closest friend laughs, summoning several balls to life around him. The enemy Ultimate swallows visibly at his taunt, but flies up into the air anyway and manages (barely) to stutter a response.
"N-No! I didn't! At all!"
You try to ignore the back and forth entirely, instead fixating on the logistics here.
Three versus two… Zehahaha. Perfect.

[] That move comes from a Datamon, which are fragile combatants. Charge through the house and delete him first to even the odds. Perhaps it could even allow Sparks a further boost, which would help in defeating the others.
[] There may be three Ultimates lined up in opposition, but so what? You have Sparks. It's time to play to your strengths, fight together and show these Gloaming assassins what real teamwork can accomplish. You are a shield, he is the weapon.
[] Last time you met WereGarurumon head on as a martial artist first. This time you'll use everything at your disposal to combat him. He won't be expecting you to match, or even exceed his speed. And in that time, you'll finish him.
Okay what in the Digital World did Sparks do to the Noob LadyDevimon?! It's actually bugging me at this point!
….Ahem. Anyways, Sparks time to rock n roll.
