Hellfire Burns vote has been removed.
Could I sell you on Securing a better Tommorow V3 ? It seems to be a lot the same lines as you're approval voting.
I honestly think Plan Entrepot is the best all-round plan, currently. It gives us some good stuff to work with, no real crippling maluses, and we'll have the tools to deal with things as they come. I also just like it from a narrative standpoint.
Might I interest you in Securing a brighter tommorow? It's got the same merchants and vaccines and ships, but with a different Malus set.
I really don't like either of the two main options. I genuinely think that Burns Vs. The World would be an improvement at this point.
If I might ask, what would you consider the crippling problems with securing a brighter tommorow? I'm not unwilling to change things if you see a glaring flaw to make it worse than burns.
I can also add an option to gear up and steal the nuke, if we want...

Interesting. Not really willing to approval vote this as stands, because I'm not a big fan of resistance contacts, but if you had brown water navy or libraries or independant merchants over that you'd have a second vote.

Efficient Bureaucracy gives you an efficient state apparatus; Established gives your state control over more than just the City of Chicago.
ctulhuslpToday at 8:00 AM
does latter give us farmland which is, well, being farmed???
PoptartProdigyToday at 8:01 AM
It does give you direct political control over large swathes of farmland, yes, as opposed to, "merely," being the only regional power within range of all of that farmland. Sure, take it to the thread if you like.

Efficient Bureaucracy is a working model of government that can be applied to lower government, therefore i deem it more vital than established.

In light of well this being said by Poptart, I'm going to be pushing for my old plan again, considering that actual state control is going to be a lot better than being the regional power for handling food, especially with having population boom and the need for food. I also decided to go for a need of having Good Security considering all the potential security problems we are likely to have (especially with The Greatest Sin).

Empty spaces isn't great, but it lacks disunited currency (thank goodness). It has established+population boom which is better than population boom flat. Not my favorite plan, but I can approve of it.

[X] Hellfire Burns Vs. The World
It would be a specific flavor of game, and It actually has a navy plus established with population boom, which ironically makes it better than some other plans. It has the critical flaw of Disunited currency, but other than that it does its job.

|X| Plan All-Round Start
Not my favorite without railroads and trade with population boom, but it does have established which is vital with pop boom and otherwise is a pretty good start.

[X] Plan Bare Necessities
[X] Plan Just the Government
I am a big fan of these keep it simple starts quite frankly. They are unlikely to win, but given our current military advantage, keeping it simple is a fine strategy.

[X] Plan Security, Established, and Economy
My personal favorite dark horse.

One note I would like to put out there, railroads is not going to save us from population boom, given the fact that it is going to take a couple turns to set up.

Since people don't seem to want resistance contacts, even though that would probably be our best bet for smuggling a bomb into Victoria, let me try this instead...

[ ] Grand Theft BOOM
-[ ] Ear to the Ground
-[ ] Good Security
-[ ] Aerial Reconnaissance
-[ ] Brown Water Navy
-[ ] Established
-[ ] Efficient Bureaucracy
-[ ] Well-Preserved
-[ ] The Greatest Sin
-[ ] Victorian Sympathizers
-[ ] Import/Export Professionals
-[ ] Hostile Neighborhood

This has Established, Efficient Bureaucracy, Good Security, and Brown Water Navy, as well as Well-Preserved.

The Greatest Sin is too much of a deal breaker for me to vote for the current leading plan.

If I might ask, what would you consider the crippling problems with securing a brighter tommorow? I'm not unwilling to change things if you see a glaring flaw to make it worse than burns.

Compromised plus Victorian Sympathizers plus the lack of Established is what does it for me. This is purely a personal judgement, but I'll accept economic crises and bigger external threats if it means a larger unified state. Otherwise we could end up facing the Victorians on turn 1 as a city state with enemy agents already in our government, and further government officials with Victorian sympathies who could be swung to their side, and a nuke floating out there somewhere.

Burns isn't ideal either- it comes with a wave of initial crises that would be hard to beat- but it's absent the kind of structural issues that Compromised and Sympathizers bring.

@EBR, would you consider voting for Grand Theft BOOM as well? It is a nice Intel focused one which still has Established and Efficient Bureaucracy, without having the Pop Boom issues.
