Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Yrs confirmed that if we are challenged we have no control for when the challenges occurs, but when we are challenging someone we can assume that it will be post training of both arts and skills. For the purpose of the plan with challenge, it means getting:
  • HDW4, FSS6, FVM8, SES4
  • Manip B (likely only), fortitude D
  • Domain F

I meant more like, will the research itself take place before or after Ling Qi finishes training?

Because when researching last turn the research took place before Ling Qi actually trained, which is what I am wary off (Random challenges are unpredictable anyhow).

Otherwise, I agree with @Erebeal that Ling Qi needs to pump her social more, since fortitude is going to rank up anyway and doesn't really have a way to rank up twice in the same turn even with luck (not to mention it doesn't get an art boost).

I am not sure I understand. Last turn the research was done after training, but beside that why does it matter when the research is done as long as the challenge itself happen after the training? Or are you thinking HDW will help the research significantly?

Both choosing the research range and choosing Yu Nuan happened before the training took place though; training occurred in 'Arc 2-3' and the vote to choose Yu Nuan happened in the previous update.

EDIT: It matters because if we want to make an informed choice about who to challenge, we kinda need to know Ling Qi actual capabilities. Who knows what maxing FSS will give? Or soft capping the new arts?

It will be interesting to see if CRX is upfront about the refusal to perform basic corruption and graft with any new elite recruits. She can still pay better so it probably wouldn't be a deal breaker, but I do wonder if it will limit her recruitment pool to the people that don't quite know all of what they are missing out on.

And if their friend broke a small rule, like I don't know, speeding, or something small like that. What would a friend do ? Let it go or force them to go to the police ?

In that case, I imagine it's less like 'you found out your friend was speeding' and more 'you are the judge, your friend was caught speeding, it's up to you to fine them or let it pass'. In which case, as the judge, it's your job to give them the standard fine. If you don't, you are technically breaking the law, and you will know that, even if no one but yourself will censure you for doing so. I can understand someone who would fine their friend in that scenario, especially if the punishment is commensurate with the minor offence. Not like your friend would go bankrupt from a minor fine.

Skills I don't mind which wins, we can eat some inefficiency since things are much more relaxed. Plan-wise I'm firmly against EANP:
1. poor fit in theme (especially wrt domain; fear, fugly summons)
2. bad coverage (functions overlap with stronger core arts, unlike SES that overlaps partially with archive arts we haven't learned)
3. makes turn 4-5 AP budget worse in meridians and arts (forced to pick up MNO for resist)
4. viability of summoned constructs for support/offense is questionable, especially compared to the existing area control approach (which benefits from dispel resist we're going for in a way summons don't)

One thing I am super interested in is a interlude about suyin's parents meeting her at the sect and finding out about everything that has happened. That would be a really cool perspective.

God, I wish that Yrsillar had made EANP pretty, perhaps fey instead of demons. The most common complaint against it I hear is things like "fugly summons". AE has the same issues.

The next arts dive we do, can we specify only pretty summon effects/other effects?

Edit: mainly from yrsillar's sake, it must suck putting in all that work creating an art only to have it discarded because of ascetics.

For all those people concerned that Cai's "Justice" and "Law" focus will impede out thieving career, I have two words for you: CIVIL FORFEITURE
