Look, I can gab about music being Ling Qi greatest speciality and how it's possible that Sixiang would get to contribute and various other arguments.

But the real reason is that I want to see a musical duel, and nothing will convince me otherwise.

Pretty much the same reason for me.

I'm not particularly interested in Xu Zhen, since I don't see a lot of cross over between Ling Qi's skill set and his, except plausibly where he sets up a defense and Ling Qi has to sneak past it.

Actually, on further thought.

We are a very strong counter to what has been declared as his build. He's got an elemental build that's all about finding a good spot and making it inassailable, while Ling Qi is all about getting into someone's personal space despite their best efforts and doing things to them. She's a pressure combattant, which means one-shot consumable talismans as a defensive measure aren't the best choice against her (Because Ling Qi is countered by a strong passive defense), and if he decides to make it a "Dare you attack my demonic fortress?" We're good at bypassing and unravelling defensive formations.

Beyond that, if he makes it a straight duel, his elemental spread doesn't suggest particularly great speed... And even though he's been hinted as being good at dispels--Ling Qi literally managed to tank an expensive consumable geared to collapse the magic of a Green 4 through Traveller's End--and this guy lacks the speed to stop us from getting some distance and winding up to Traveller's End.

More importantly, based on his description, he's probably not the sort to take defeat personally. While Yu Nuan is.

You're still voting for Mou Shuang, scout boi tho?

And I don't remember Green Four being mentioned with the boy Ling Qi ran over.

I want this if only because in the lens of cultivator society I don't see a musician who's likely to be fairly emotional to take a loss well, no matter how awesome the duel of music itself might be.

Fixed.

Remember, the guy was talking about how his talisman would dispel pretty much anything an early/appraisal green could muster? And he was shocked when Traveller's End soaked it?

I went and looked and he was talking about stuff not at the fourth or fifth step so Foundation and below.

That sounds like more of a reason to go for her tbh. We need a bitchy rival character:p

Also, how does Ji Rong have A pen? He can't have unarmed A or or Strength A, which means a loooootttt of passive stacking.

Hmm, I guess something like Weapon 10 + Art 10x2 + talisman 5 + Way 5 could do it...

That is part of my idea. If we can make a determined enemy out of Yu Nuan she may challenge us again out of sheer anger. If we win that round that would be free contribution points.

I feel like our goal should be to get up a level as smoothly as possible well zhengui is out of action. We are about to explode and if we go for one of the more well like guys we may draw unessary flack no matter how polite and friendly the duel is. Once Zhengui is ready to rumble we should be able to start blitzing up the ranks from all our art improvements.

We will need all the contribution points we can get and getting a loner to engage in a futile challenge will give us contribution points.

Or just shiteloads of Way.

As to the vote thing I think Yu Nuan is someone Ling Qi can have a solid chance to beat with her Woodwind A and superior Qi in a music off. And if she gets angry at Ling Qi beating her, I don't see why that would matter. Ling Qi is going to be leaving her behind soon and it isn't like she can punch her in the face with a music doot on this mountain. She... doesn't matter in regard to her getting angry.

I think if he goes for the alternate option challenge it'll be something involving dealing with Spirits, and Ling Qi's experience along with Sixiang are a huge help with that. While her infiltration and musical abilities are maybe, on paper, better than her Spirit Ken, Ling Qi has had a string of experience dealing with very dangerous spirits throughout the quest and I think her recent trial especially gives her a powerful thematic advantage here.

"Ji Rong has been in the archives a great deal," Li Suyin added with a frown. "Though not always in the arts sections. "...He got into a fistfight with a tome of imperial law while I was studying construct behavior functions.

So, is this how people without CRX tutoring them train Government?
