However, that very rarity is what put iron into widespread use for tools among both mortals and cultivators, and led to the improved ironworking that eventually led to its phaseout, up to and including the development of steel by Zheng smiths in the second dynasty, which was the point where bronze became firmly subpar for modern talisman craft.
Do different alloys work better for different qi types?

I mean, Cultivation had to be discovered at some point, and then developed to now.. so I suppose would it be accurate to say that 'modern' cultivation essentially has a bunch of 'secret' cultivation stages, when viewed from the perspective of old cultivation?

Not really, given that old cultivation doesn't really exist anymore. You could say it had some secret stages, but it doesn't now.

ehh.... It is stated that the nameless father gifted humanity with the secrets of cultivation as he was dying. Then there were also dragons teaching humans cultivation. And then there is the fact that they only way we can look at the night sky without getting fried by stellar energy is because someone achieved becoming a great spirit and help fix it.

Basically the end goal of cultivation (becoming a great spirit) has been known for about as long as humans could cultivate. Sure the steps to get there may not have been fully understood but as more and more people advanced to that final stage their experiences were recorded and helped create a better understanding of the imperial system. The names have changed over the eons but the steps have been known.

Now we don't know the requirements of each step. The reason for this is that we aren't anywhere near needing to know the requirements. As we advance we will get more and more information.

[X] Aid the spirit, something about the prince set her on edge.

The horned guys are the founding clan where their great ancestor spirit abandoned in disgust right. In eastern settings family is very important so they must of done some very bad things to be abandoned.

My Celestial Nasal Vision Art burns away all fogs and darkness!

Excerpts from the Argent Bestiary:

Crimson-Snouted Kingly Deer

A reclusive spirit oft told of in fireside stories to small children. It is said that in the long, frozen nights of winter, those that hold the gift of giving within their hearts may hear a jingling of distant bells that lifts the spirits and warms the soul. Lost travellers caught in blizzards unaware may find their path illuminated by a crimson radiance that cuts through fog and snow alike, should they have lead a virtuous existence over the previous cycle of the seasons.

(Core disciples of the Argent Sect have confirmed the existence of this flighty creature, sitting at the peak of the Cyan realm. It was deemed benevolent by Sect authorities, and allowed to continue its yearly wanderings uninterrupted.)

Awww that's adorable.

I wonder how hard it would be to turn this setting and rules into an actual tabletop rpg?

I personally would love to play.
I would totally make a wuxia Solaire expy heaven light and sun arts all the way for me.

Great chapter I know I'm kinda late lol

*rubs chin*

Hmm. Probably kinda hard? In a lot of respects the old system from the first thread was a table top rpg system. Not entirely but it wasn't far off. It broke pretty quickly and a lot of the bits were kinda just not used.

*goes off to think on how he'd do it*
