Before replying I just want to say two things.

  1. I am very sorry about not getting the rest of the update out last night like I was supposed to. No real excuse beyond being tired.
  2. The recent good natured chat, interested speculation etc....well it's made this quest 100% worth it to me. As it's helped capture one of my side goals beyond the personal passion aspect.
Now time to get to the replies.
Cornered coward fights hard
Aye, and it's even more true for Verge. His Wrath currently comes out at his more desperate moments.

Also any Idea on who's talking to us?

I'm betting we're getting a flashback from our old lives.

Or it could be a memory of when we were Flamemon's Ward.
Well, I'm going to say something here. The color for text is important. I plan to use it sparingly and only for a select number of digimon.
That was defintely not what I was expecting to happen either.
I hope the surprise was a good one! :)
TLDR we're going to see Verge acknowledging his rage next time and weither or not it's a good thing. As it has saved him but it should also scare him more then usual especially if he deletes his opponent here.
Yeah at this point Verge is going to be a bit more freaked out about it. Once instance was something he could kind of run away from, but now? Well he's scared but will want to talk to someone about it. Not as soon as he wakes up mind you, but soon.
First I doubt we are in a state of mind to even begin thinking about things like that. Two funny enough we never technically "Fought" anyone before. Flamemon was training, We Flailed against the golbimon, and this was just the out burst of a cornered digimon.
Heh, completely 100% true. But now Verge is potentially at a place where he CAN fight thanks to a couple decisions and sparring with Flamemon.
Also just realized Verge doesn't know any pantheons meaning he can't say the equivalent of "Dear (insert deity here)".
Hehe, well technically he does know one, though that's thanks to Gramps. There'll actually be three potential religions in quest, though one will unfortunately be blocked off thanks to certain circumstances.
Cowardly Drimogemon Quest? Hell yeah!

Verge also kinda reminds me of Courage the Cowardly Dog.
Kek, ah good memories. Anyway, I'm glad to have you aboard man! I hope you like Verge's journey from cowardly rookie to something more.
Well I believe Verge deserves a reward for being such a badass when it counted when literally EVERYONE in the thread thought he was screwed. Sssooo...

Congratulations Verge!
Awesome job man! I can't believe this quest has Fanart now! :) I'll be threadmarking that. Then I'll have to think up a few potential reward options for it. Red eyes were a nice tough BTW.

Speaking of what's your stance on Omakes?

They are welcome and generously worth a stat point or two. Particularly good ones can earn more.

Question, how big is the little village they are in? How many rookies, in training, eggs etc?

All weve seen is elecmon whose a grandpa but still a rookie?

Flamemon, us, fu, gnaw and armidillamon. Oh and lunamon and the new fire baby.

The village isn't actually all that big. There's a few small huts (4) a large tree in the center with a single storage hut on the opposite side of the huts. There's also enough room for a couple very small fields. Plus a fire pit which now has Sorcerymon and his shop nearby.

This is all surrounded by a fairly tall wooden wall. Overall not the biggest as far as civilization goes, but it's a nice size.

Rookies? There are 7. Fu, Gnaw, Flamemon, Verge, Auger, Gramps. Lunamon is the latest one to evolve.

Currently only 1 In-Training at the moment and that is the Demi-Meramon. Who oddly enough hatched right from an egg ignore the baby stage entirely.

There are several eggs developing on the tree at the moment. But none of them are full size yet.

Damn..I had ideas but with the village only consisting of the named cast I am somewhat limited... less a village and more of a rowdy gang of rookies banding together for safety.

I'l message you with some ideas I have later. For approval before I write anything

This is a very small village, was it always this small or did something recently cause it to become such a small size? The fact that gramps is only a few years old might also mean something, especially since we haven't seen any champion level digimon that would often be seen guarding areas like this.

It's pretty simple really. This has been a relatively low threat portion of the digital world. Low population without many easy to grab resources. For the most part, digimon move on from the area after becoming champions with Gramps being able to fend off anything that's target the village so far.

It's always been this small.

The recent happenings with the Goblimon and mines are not usual at all.

Also Gramps is considered OLD in terms of Rookie standards. Most either become champions after a couple months or end up dying.

Wait what the Hell?!

The hell they do?! Stay in their egg until they became in-training? Because if not then this little spark is going to grow up into something amazing in the future. Or horrifying based on how thier alignment ends up as.

But they're being raised by Flamemon(Who really needs to get a name.) so I think they're in good hands

4th Day Of Darkness: "Off Limits"
Second Part:

===

You awaken with a start as three sharp things jab into your side, pushing aside fur to poke against your flesh. With a cry of fear you wiggle away from the feeling, scrambling to your feet in an attempt to get away from whatever is trying to get you. Pain from your head, torso and front paws make this more difficult than it has to be, but somehow you manage to stumble your way through it. Thankfully, it does not pounce after your recovering form and you're able to get back onto your feet. A moment later your left eye opens, spotting Auger with one paw held up in front of his head.

"Hey Verge...you okay?"

It hurts.

"Y-yeah. I....I am" you sniffle in reply, struggling to hold back more tears.

"Mmmm. The larger rookie nods, before glancing worrying at the sky. You follow his gaze then wince upon seeing just far how the sun has gone in the sky. Morning has long past and now it's late in the afternoon. "We should aah. Get back. Tell Gramps about this.." Auger trails off into a yawn, then shakes his head.

"Wha-what about the...the."

"Hmm, left" Auger replies, before worrying looking off towards the left of the small tunnel. "He....he told me" For once the carefree digimon actually quivers in fear. "He'd....delete us"

D-delete me?

Silence falls between you for several seconds, as the ramifications make themselves clear. You don't want to die, to be erased from existence, fade away. It takes a moment for you to realize that you're quivering in fear. Auger ends up breaking the silence with a grunt before turning to leave. Naturally you run after him, intent on sticking right by his side.

As the two of you set off back towards the village, you can't help but tensely look towards the shadows fearing that the dark green goblimon might be waiting in any of them ready to carry out his threat. Between that and the constant pain, the journey back feels far longer than you know it should be.

Upon arriving back at the village Auger rushes over towards the tree of rebirth where Gramps is resting and tries to wake him up from his nap. At first you're stunned that Auger actually sprints for once, though it's quickly replaced by unease as he begins to explain what happened over at the cave.

"WHAT?!"

Suffice to say he is very much not amused by the news. The scarred Elecmon shoots out from underneath the tree and virtually flies over the Armadillomon, his body turning into a blur as he inspects your companion from every angle. One moment you're watching the old rookie look over Auger, and the next he's soaring over your head. Before you can blink his paws begin touching and prodding your body. He ends up hitting every single one of you bruises in the process, which forces you to emit a small whimper.

When he's finally finished, the extremely agile digimon stops in front of you and gives a sigh of relief.

"Thank the ten" he says, front paws rising up towards the sky. The rookie stays there for a few seconds before giving you a soft smile. "You're both okay. There's no lingering damage. Just....just a nights rest and you'll both be fine." He takes a deep breathe and turns away muttering something angrily through clenched teeth. "If I meet that ten damned Goblimon, I'm going to shock him until he squeals"

You're left simply standing near the gates for a few seconds before Gramps starts shouting. He quickly calls an assembly to your fellow rookies, gathering Fu, Gnaw, & Flamemon from their various places around the village. You quickly fall in line with Auger, slightly afraid of what the scarred Elecmon has to say but more scared of missing whatever announcement he's making. Lunamon hops down beside you a few moments later, and excitedly asks you what's going on, but before you can answer Gramps begins to speak

"From here on out!" The red rookie bellows. "The mountain south of here is off limits! There is something going on over there with the Goblimon! One nearly deleted Verge and Auger" The villages caretaker gestures down towards you "No one is to go there unless it's with me!" Gramps turns to Flamemon and gives him a deadly stare. "If it comes down to it, then by the ten I will enforce this rule" Flamemon, crosses his arm staying silent for a few moments before finally letting lose a clearly forced nod. "Good. The entire village is in danger, so..." The old rookie trails off and for a brief moment and you can't help but notice just how tired he looks "Be careful all of you, don't. Don't put yourselves in danger"

O-okay. I won't go there Gramps. I promise.

A few more seconds pass as the other digimon wait for him to continue, but Gramps doesn't. Instead he just sighs before sitting down. This proves to be the signal to disperse as the assembled digimon start talking to each other. You watch Gnaw move over towards Auger, to question him, then freeze as something tugs at your fur.

"A-are you o-okay" Lunamon murmurs, her eyes brimming with tears. "P-pwease be okay"

"I'm..ah." I-I'm okay" you shakily reply, only to freeze once again as her arms wrap around your neck. She stays there hugging you for a few seconds during which you barely manage to keep things together. Your instincts scream for you to get out from the embrace, but for once you manage to push them back. Though admittedly it still leaves you feeling extremely uncomfortable.

Thankfully something manages to distract you from the hug.

"Verge" Flamemon approaches you from the side, Demi-Meramon still held in his . "I...." The tall rookie clenches his fists and looks towards the ground. "That VIllain hurt you." sadness begins leaking into his voice, and he raises his eyes to meet your own. "I'm sorry for not being there. I...I should have saved you. A hero would have saved you"

Flamemon.

"Are...do you still want to train?"

The agility modifier is going to help in the longer run on getting it caught up.

Now for Gnaw he is actually coming to us for help. That is big since we're not obviously his favorite mon. He's swallowing his pride for this, so I think we should atleast lend him a hand.

On the other hand there is this as an optional plan.

I'm not against this as fortitude is a stat that pay off easily with it reducing the damage we take. Also it would be nice to meet Demi.

Okay the reason why we should train agility is because due to my art the training result for agility is now 1.25 instead of just 1.
And I'll point out that going for balanced stats or high Agility really isn't going to help Verge that much here. For his build and attacks he's really not the best suited for it. Plus his Agility is still his worst talent, in terms of immediate power growth to be better at combat he has stats that could really use it more.

Well yeah, but you forgot two things my friend.

A. I'm gunning for the stats to fit for Monochromon
B. Trying to raise agility for the Drill Bull maneuver.

Yes I know champion is wwaaayyy off.

I know the idea of not training will gall some but verge just got attacked, almost deleted and experienced a very traumatic event. I know people want to get rid of his cowardness but lets not give him a complex or even worse mental trait.

Let him get some good sleep and mentally prepared for tomorrows conversation with gramps

I didn't forget. Rather I'm ashamed to say I got overzealous and let my inner stat planner out. Bleh, as the GM I'm Supposed to be 100% impartial to this. I should not have spoken out as I did.

I'm just wary of letting one person end up dictating the stat build.

After re-reading the update I changed my mind on training. However I stand firm on that we should help Gnaw.

Going with the gramps option because I want to get know more about the scared mon and because I think we could do with some elder wisdom right about now.

Plus, I get the feeling gramps might have a connection to who we were back in the day and I want to see where that goes.

Is a write in acceptable?

[X] No (Verge goes to rest)
-[X] "I just... Want to Talk. Later."

In case it leads to us at least going therapy on Flaremon, while he possibly learns a bit of confidence that we 'snapped' in a way, that actually bailed us and Auger out.

That aside, stat wise; I'd suggest we focus a bit on Agility at some point anyway. It may be our worst stat still, but if we can strike faster, AND harder. It'd lead to some magic Giga Drill Break I'd call the possible Strength + Agility Special Move.

[X] Gramps wishes to speak with you about recent events, both to make sure you're okay and to ask about....something else.
-[X] Speak with Flaremon about it as well. It's a bit uncomfortable, but having someone brave throw his opinion over your experience, may give you ideas on how to handle those events, better.

At the end, it's possible write in. But in general, I threw my vote as well.
