Well than the really only leaves Grizz Stance as our only real viable fighting style.
With our stats that means we're best place as a Guard unit who's purpose is to protect the more squishy units like Fu or provide back up to others like Flame or Gnaw.
Hmm, well I suppose a problem with this is the fact that Verge has low agility. So any enemy that's faster could catch up to him before the traps. With that said, maybe he could eventually do something a bit similar? Use a trap like say a pit-fall to bring more agile foes to an enclosed space and thus leave him more able to hit them.
Or it could be used in synergy with allies, like holding them in place while say....Gnaw blasts them.
Yeah that is what I was getting at, the traps act as a natural barrier forcing agility builds to either fight in a far more constrained area and be worn down by our flurry attacks, move around and risk falling into out traps, or constantely scout around distracted while we attempt to pummel them.
The main advantage is simply that we know where the traps are, and that our opponent does not.
That is the main downside, in essense we would have to play strategically and/or with allies. I'm mainly favouring this strategy because we lack the stats to really do any other strategy well enough. I mean if we gain enough agi to flurry our way through people, enough fortitude to ignore damage or enough bravery to charge down our enemies it would be a different story. For now though, strategy and allies are the way we can be most effective.
Of course we could always go for a less effective strategy as a method to train ourselves and move us towards a specific direction. At the current moment though, there doesn't seem to be a consensus as to what we should advance towards.
Not really. We actually have pretty decent stats for a moderately fresh rookie.
The only time we lack 'em is when we're compared to the others like Flamemon and Gnaw. Flamemon is the rookie form of the Spirit of fire so of course he's gonna have ridiculous stats. Gnaw is the oldest of us and a Black Gabumon which already puts him in the lead.
But remeber the Goblimon and how terrible thier stats we're? While yes they were goblimon they also were feral meaning they lacked the nutrients we recived. If we had Verge go one v one with a average rookie Feral I'd say stat wise we may be in better shape and if it we're to come to blows I'd say he could even win.
[] You attempt to get Auger to go with you and investigate the big metal foot.
[] Yes
===
For once, no dreams come to trouble your sleep during the night. Thus, when morning comes you feel more fresh and energetic than ever, completely ready to grab Auger and head out to further uncover that strange metal from its rock confines.....even if you are a little scared of what it could be.
With quiet careful steps you begin to move out of the hut, careful not to wake the blanket ensconced Lunamon from her deep slumber. Despite the initial troubles you'd faced from her recent advancement to rookie, you'd managed to acclimate to her new form. After all, you'd known her ever since she hatched from a digi-egg and the transformation from Moonmon to Lunamon hadn't actually changed that much about about your *Ward*
You exit the hut making sure that your grey bag is secure around your neck, then make a beeline straight to Sorcerymon. While the bed and blanket had taken away most of your money, there were still fifty bits left. Just enough to pay him for a meal. If you were going to be spending the morning digging through rock, then a good meal to keep you energized through it would be a good idea. Sorcerymon ends up giving you a few *bars* covered in a strange material that he warns that you take off before eating what's inside. Naturally, you listen to his advice poking the wrappers with your claws to make holes, then ripping them open. They taste....fruity, like some of the plants Gramps had brought back to the village a couple weeks ago.
Gramps pays you a visit right thereafter, asking about your plans for today and you manage to tell him that you're heading out with Auger again to further examine what you found. The scarred Elecmon doesn't ask any questions about what exactly it might be, but merely gives a grudging nod, tells you to stay safe and then leaves to go look for Flamemon.
A part of you wants to call out to the older rookie and explain about the foot, but a realization stops you. Gramps is easily the oldest digimon in the village several dozen times over if his claims of "overseeing the village for years" is correct. The odds that he doesn't know of such a thing are slim to none, meaning you'd only be wasting his time. Having seen others on the end of his annoyance, you're more than a little scared of accidentally risking his ire. So you shut your moth, and move on.
Next up you wake up Auger (which is still a difficult process) then journey back outside the village to the small cave you'd visited yesterday. From there it's a simple matter of revving up your drills and getting to work. Together with the help of Auger you manage to break away large portions of rock in the next few hours. Luckily enough while working on the right side you even manage to find two patches of Crystal, though neither are as large as the one you found yesterday. (+1300 bits worth of Loot)
Interestingly enough, the *Leg* surface proves to not just be a straight line, rather it's made out of squarish segments that are uniform in size and shape. Auger is struggling to keep up with your pace, barely managing to uncover a third of what you've managed to Just as you manage to clear out the rock covering the third segment up, a loud angry voice roars from outside the tunnel.
"Get out of there now!"
You freeze at the angry shout, all thoughts of uncovering the rest of the leg forgotten. That voice, it wasn't Gramps, Flamemons or any other digimon you'd ever met. Which meant meeting another new digimon, one that was potentially hostile at that. Slowly you back out from the mini-tunnel you'd constructed, and shakily turn towards Auger who'd done the same.
I-it's okay. I-I can fight now. Just like how Flamemon said.
"W-who do you th-think that is?" You ask Auger, hoping that he might know the currently unseen digimon. Sadly, he shakes his head in a no.
"Mmm, no idea" The older rookie says with a yawn. "Let's go see"
What looks like a strangely colored Goblimon stands just outside of the small caves entrance, his orange eyes narrowing into a fierce glare as you exit the small tunnel with Auger.
"Can you speak interlopers?" It growls and you can't help but flinch away from his tone.
"Yep" Auger replies, not seeming to feel any danger at all.
"Good. Then you'll understand this" The rookie takes a couple steps forward finally coming close enough for you to notice that he's nearly as tall as Flamemon. "I have been put in charge of mining this area. You have been stealing from me" It takes another step forward, looming over your companion. "And I can't help but wonder if it's the two of you that have been deleting my workforce"
Hi-his workforce?
You blink in surprise and Auger follows suite.
"Darn it, then it's some other digimon" The green rookie mumbles under his breath before shaking his head. "Fine. I'll just have to teach you never to mess with me again"
Auger scoffs at the declaration, and moves to step past the taller rookie.
*Thwack*
Only to be set sliding back by a strike the other digimon's weapon.
The Armadillomon comes to a stop a couple feet , his left shell actually cracked from the force of the *Goblimons* attack. You can't help but gape in pure horror at that little fact, a new sense of terror rising up from your core. You'd never seen him ever really get hurt before, but this new digimon had actually managed to wound Auger hurting his armor in the process.
"Ouch" your companion groans, shakily getting to his feet. "That....hurt" Augers lets out a pained cough, before glaring at taller Rookie. In the next instant he's curled into a ball and rolling forward, aiming to smash the green rookie with the entirety of his weight.
"Rolling Stone!"
His foe doesn't bother calling out an attack of his own, instead he lazily takes his club into a two handed grip, pivots into a sideways stance and waits for the rolling Aramdillomon to get close. With wide eyes, you watch his body twist bringing the blunt weapon sideways so fast it becomes a blur. Another, even louder *Thwack* echoes through the air, and Augers momentum is reversed sending him past you to roll straight into the rocky wall beside the small cave.
Your companion does not get up.
Auger!
For several moments you try to speak, to say something but an invisible hand constricts around your throat hard, stopping any words from coming out.
The Dark green digimon whistles appreciatively at his handiwork, then turns his eyes towards you.
F-Flamemon. G-gramps. Anyone, h-help!
As it begins taking steps forward you realize that no one is going to be able to help you. Not here, not right now.
So you:
=== Choose One:
[] Dig away. Try to get underground as fast as you can and hide from him.
[] Cower. Maybe if you apologize and show no threat he might leave you alone?
[] Run. Run as fast as you can.
[] Fight! This digimon just defeated Auger in two hits, there's no way you'll even think about attacking him.
Second. Drex if we went with Gnaw would we have faced an equally powerful mon?
Third. We screwed Augur! He wouldn't have come here if it weren't for us!
Fourth. Would a acceptable write in we beg him to let Augur go if we start drilling for him since we heard about his lost work force? The Boss-Gobli has to see our drill nose and put 1+1 together.

If Verge wasn't scared out of his wits then maybe. But Verge would certainly not want to do so as it would mean leaving the village, and everyone (even Flamemon) behind to go somewhere else that is completely unknown to him likely inhabited by more of whatever consists of Shamanmons workforce.
"Pl-please le-tt hi-m go an-bd I- dig up mor-re c-rrystal for y-you."
(More stuttering for being terrified)
Okay how about Begging/Offering? We get on our knees/closest we have and beg him to stop and offer up the crystal we gathered from this action as a compensation/offering?
...Damn it this event will be a giant blow to Verge's confidence.

-[] Beg. Give him the crystal you found from a deposit and beg for him to let the two of you go(-650 bit)
From my understanding we found two deposits worth of crystal, but he doesn't know that. All he knows we just dug some up.
.....Just because I want give up doesn't mean I can't be tricky about it. Also I want to imagine his face if he realizes we only gave him half of what we found after we got away.
Ya know, if Verge does that, then the Shamanmon might take the crystal then beat him anyways. Big thing here is that he's delivering a message and using violence to make sure it sets in.

The way this will most likely end is with us getting beat. We weren't fast enough to dig away from the past goblimons if Verge is to be believed and I'm a hundred present sure this guy is way faster than those mooks.
But hey if luck is on our side maybe we will be able to do it and possible snatch up Augur when the Shammamon wonders off.
[X] Dig away. Try to get underground as fast as you can and hide from him.
You know the only possible bright side to this is that Devotion might kick in for a great training montage.
I mean if not for the fact we we're useless as our friend got beat down in front of us, than the fact of how could we ever help Flamemon be a hero if we couldn't even help Augur.
