[] Flail! You're not going to be able to get away in time. So just close your eyes to avoid seeing the digimon attack. Just swing your nose and paws around.
===
Your first instinct upon gazing at the charging Goblimon is to start digging down straight down in a bid to escape the savage rookies wrath. But as your claws move to begin striking at the dirt, you have a horrified realization. Judging by his speed and the relatively short distance he has to cover.....
H-he's s-six seconds a-away. Digging e-enough to e-escape would be too long.
Quickly you begin scurrying backwards away from the attacker in a panic. Only to stop as your rear ends smacks up against the tree, the green rookie flashes you a mean predatory grin and raises his club up behind his head. Even if you did try running from here, then here'd be no chance of an escape. He's simply faster than you are, and the attempt to flee would ultimately accomplish nothing.
W-what would Flamemon Do?...h-he'd f-fight b-back.
A terrifying moment passes by as you realize that there's only one acceptable option here, even if you really don't like it. So with a tiny whimper you rise up onto your hind legs, close our eyes and as the Goblimon comes into range you step forward and
flail. Your short thick arms wave blindly to and fro, desperately seeking to hit
something and maybe scare the attacking digmon off. Two seconds go by in silence as you wildly swing, putting all of your fear into the action of trying to stay alive. Twice your claws collide with something hard creating a loud *Thunk* with each blow.
"Gwahaha-ak" The Goblimon laugh cuts short as the claws on your right hand strike something soft. Your paw rips apart a little bit of material that certainly doesn't feel like dirt or stone.
I-I'm d-doing it!
A thrill of victory rushes through your body.
Then your left foot steps on a root and your balance is broken. You stumble left awkwardly, struggling to not fall, but before you can recover something painful to slam against your side. Overwhelming terror rises up inside your chest once again as you fall, this same terror sees you curling up into a ball as the unseen Goblimon lands attack after attack on your quivering form. Pain more than you'd ever felt in your life blossoms over your body as the other rookie repeatedly clubs your body.
For a brief half-second despair fills your core, all hope of being able to fight back gone. Your vision starts going even darker.
"Get up! Stop your mewling and Fight Back!"
"RAAAAGH!"
Wrath burns through your veins, washing away the previously overwhelming pain in a tint of red. Another blow of the club lands on your head, but is simply
ignored. New energy floods your muscles, propelling you back up onto your feet. Lastly your eye-lids flash open, revealing a pair of
burning coals.
Your foe stumbles back, beady orange eyes widening in horrified shock.
"No!" It squeals, raising its club up defensively as you lunge forward.
"Drill Spin!"
Your nose crashes into the studded club, piercing deep into the wood. With your full force behind the blow, the weapon
shatters a second leaving you free to come forward and plunge into the Goblimons left side. The next moment sees you gripping the earth with your paws before ripping left with all the power you posses.
He screams in pain as you tear free from his torso, scrambling to cover the data-leak with his hands. You snarl, getting ready to attack again, however the other rookie doesn't bother to stick around for it whirling about and fleeing with all speed. The running rookies cries of terrors somehow feel.....
satisying.
A moment later the emotion vanishes, leaving you to collapse back down beneath the tree. The pain from before is back, though not nearly so bad as you first thought, having devolved into dull throbs into the shark spikes of agony that you thought were overwhelming.
W-what was that? What did I...?His side...
You shake your head, shivering in fear. That feeling had taken control and you'd mesrly deleted that other digimon. If it's hadn't been for him using that club as a shield....
He-he'd be gone.
It takes you a few seconds to calm from the sudden panic which overtakes your thoughts, But eventually it backs down and you're able to start looking for how your Lalamon companion is doing. What you manage to spot is awful.
One of the other Goblimon's is down, having fallen to Fu's projectiles, but the other one seemingly managed to survived the barrages more or less intact and managed to climb up towards her. Even as you watch, the much bigger rookie manages to score a hit on Fu knocking her down to the ground.
Fu!
The now cackling rookie leaps down, ready to finish her off with a plunging attack-
"Seed Blast!"
-only to be knocked out of the air as The Lalamon lets loose an attack.
"Fufufu! Gotcha dummy goblimon!" Fu crows happily, rolling back onto her feet. She victoriously twirls in place, confident that she's won....only to be blindsided as the green digimon rushes forward and punts the smaller rookie away.
"Gwahaha!" It laughs, quickly running to chase after the still-rolling plant digimon.
You swallow nervously and attempt to take a shake forward, but pause upon realizing that no matter what you'd simply be too late to help.
The last Goblimon raises its club once again as Fu comes to a stop, clearly intent on brutally beating her down.
"Flame Toss!"
Yes! H-he's here!
"Argh!" The goblimons roars in pain as the small ball of fire impacts his back, he whirls about ignoring the defenseless Lalamon in favor glaring towards whoever had just attacked him. Flamemon lands inside the clearing a moment later, his face twisted up into a happy grin.
"Leave this place villain!" he orders pointing directly at the small green digimon "Or face the hand of Justice!" Fire erupts around your friend, punctuating his sentence.
So cool.
"No!" The Goblimon roars. "I bash you!"
Flamemon lifts two of the finger on his hand, and then beckons the hostile rookie closer.
"Go ahead" Flamemon taunts. "*Bash Me* then.
If you think you can" Said Goblimon takes the invitation wholly literal and rushes forward his studded club rising into the air once again. His weapon arcs down, whirring straight towards Flamemon skull at full. You watch in horrified silence as the Goblimon grins cruelly in anticipation, ready to try his very best to delete your friend.
No….Flamemon
Then the moment you blink
something happens. One second he's in the direct path of the strike, and the next it's brushing past his right arm. Naturally the Goblimon is also surprised by the event, it simply stares dumbly at the empty space unable to comprehend just how he'd failed to hit your friend. It lasts perhaps a second, thenl Flamemon lazily comes back from his lean and his left arm transforms into a red
blur.
*Thwack*
A left cross lashes out across the Goblimons large chin, sending the smaller rookie spinning haphazardly away. It flails for a couple seconds trying to regain a sense of balance, before simply collapsing to the ground.
"I warned him" Flamemon says with a soft chuckle, turning away from the downed opponent to look around the clearing.
Amazing
"Aha! Good work you two!"
Th-thanks Flamemon.
"No need to worry about anymore showing up, Gnaw and I took care of them already.....now" He looks over, eyes narrowing in your direction "Verge we must away! There is training to be done!" He says excitedly.
What? Tra-training?
"But..fufufu, what if they wake up?" The Lalamon on the other side of the tree question, look warily at the two downed Goblin within the clearing.
Sh-she's right!
"Gnaw's going to be here soon" Flamemon answers with a shrug. "He'll scare'em off" With that your friend gestures for you to follow him. A part of you wants to say no, to rest instead. But it's almost instantly overwhelmed by the much larger portion which is terrified of disappointing your friend.
"O-okay. I'll come along" you agree.
"Great!"
The two of you move out of the clearing, Flamemon keeping to a nice relaxed pace so you don't have to rush. Perhaps a half hour passes before before you reach the destination, a small grassy rise just outside of the forest proper. He heads for it and then settles down on the slightly inclined ground, his green eyes gazing towards the clouds lazily trailing above. You follow along, being careful not toe damage the ground with your claws as you mirror his action of laying down back-first.
It's....surprisingly nice, just relaxing silently in the company of a friend as time goes by. If
this is training, then you wouldn't mind doing it ever day.
Beside you Flamemon thrusts a clenched fist skyward.
"Listen well Verge" the rookie starts, his voice a tad lower than normal. "One day...I'm going to be a hero. No. The
Greatest hero this land will ever see." Flamemon nods to himself grinning happily. "I'll defeat the very vilest of foes! I'll save every digimon that's in need. I'll make myself known across the world" His head turns to look towards you. "It's also why I'm your friend Verge. You've needed more help than any other digimon I've come across. " Flamemon forces himself to chuckle again. "I don't know why but..I have a hunch. One day, I think you'll be strong. Strong enough to be a hero too, strong enough to help me realize my dream"
Really? That's....amazing. H-he...Flamemon has faith in me.
Tears well up in your eyes.
The Rookie sits up, before continuing on.
"We just have to overcome the whole fear thing you have first." he states with a smile. "What do you say Verge? Will you support my awesome dream?"
=== Choose One:
[] After a few moments you nod vigorously and agree. While you're scared of what it might take, helping your friend do this is more important. (Goal gained: Help Flamemon become the Greatest Hero)
[] After a few moments you shake your head. You can't do it. Not right now, not like this. You need to be braver first, to be good enough to help. (Goal gained: Find a way to overcome your fear)

With your answer given Flamemon nods happily, and then goes to lay back down again. You swallow nervously, but soon manage to start speaking.
"F-flamemon. I've been...seeing things when I sleep" You mumble, trying not to look at your friend. "L-like memories, s-scenes from s-something. I d-don't know what they are b-but...." you trail off uncertainly. The older rookie stays silent for several moments, thinking your words over before finally shaking his head.
"Verge....those thing. They don't matter Verge." Flamemon repliessoftly. "I've had some too, but...what's important is now." he twists over to look into your eyes. "Gramps told me that dreams come from our past lives and that it's best to not dwell on them. They don't actually affect us, so there's no point in worrying about the past." Your friend shrugs. "It's what we do here that matters, that truly shapes who we'll be as digimon".
O-okay. That's...a great way to look at it Flamemon, but...
You want to say more, to tell him that the memories, the scenes
are affecting you. However he cuts you off before you bring it up.
"Now!" Flamemon jumps up. "Enough talking Verge! It's time for us to train!"
Th-that wasn't training?

Authors Note: I wanted this this to be out a couple hour ago, but circumstances prevented me from writing. Anyway. Thanks to the vote, the PC will not stutter slightly less, mostly internally mind you, but it's a step in the right direction. In a similar note, now Verge knows that he CAN fight. So now he won't be quite so against confrontations.
