Mayday, part 3

Day 6
10:57 GMT -5

It's amazing what you can become accustomed to, really. And how quickly.
Needs must when the slave-ring drives. Although if the WoG we got is still accurate his murder spree is payment for repeated resurrection rather than being directly the ring's fault.

Question: What effect does daily exposure to a Lazarus Pit have on a clarktech AI?

Interesting that the anti-green ring seems to be far more efficient than the orange ones. Neither Paul nor Grayven could operate for anything even close to six days before recharging. Before getting fatherbox/a spare ring they were lucky to last 24 hours without needing a top up.

Worst! Superpower! EVER!
Actually...

Another strong contender is Scapegoat, from Worm.
We may as well just link both lists and have done with it.

Well that was depressing....

I'mma going to go back to red lantern paul for a question that occured to me (plus Teen Titans is so much happier).. if Blackfire is staying on earth with paul for a while.. how would that effect the episode 'Transformation'?

Hmm. It doesn't actually seem like it'd be that hard to get the Ring away from Anti-Paul. So long as he can justify what he's doing it doesn't seem to care.

Odd that it insists in being called "Master" but it doesn't seem to care if he tries to escape.

Basically, confront Jordan when he's on full charge and you're on half, then ask him to cut your hand off. What follows will surely suck, but if you survive it, you'll be free.

Not sure what was up with the Lasurus Pit comments, but presumably the Anti-ring can't fight without a bearer and we've seen power-rings being destroyed on panel before. Leave it to Jordan. Maybe make sure there's a bunch of other Heroes around to give him the edge.

Problem being that the ring doesn't care if he can justify, say, acts of mercy. "This will make the experiment last longer" is an argument the ring will accept. But anything that would lead to "The experiment will end" will be stomped on, and the ring can read his thoughts. Even just starting to come up with a plan would cause the ring to strike back.

Yeah, I think Zoat mentioned last thread that if Anti-Paul tried to just cut off his hand or wait until he's dead to remove the ring, then it would know and just vaporize him.

Unfortunately, Earth 13 Klarion is as per B:tAS. Also, that would clue the Qwardians in about the dust.

Hm.... Crack theory about Anti-Green Paul. If he were to eventually be freed from the slaver ring, his brain chemistry would be altered enough by the ring frequently forcing willpower out of him in order to use a normal green ring.

Of course he probably wouldn't get one and be thrown in jail at the soonest opportunity by the Justice League, but it's just me speculating.

I think the difference is that Gravy and OL have had an easy source of recharges since basically day one, while this Paul has known he would need to fight a green lantern in order to recharge. I doubt this Paul is transitioning places to save a few seconds, using power to see in the dark, or making sure he keeps at his preferred temperature at all times.

These snippets are doing a good job of showcasing a strong message to the Ambush Bug. Paul is in fact no longer a SI, at least in regards to the Young Justice continuity we are reading here. The fact that multiple variants of him exist in radically different situations mirrors DC prime universes.

The Si has completely stopped being a normal guy in a superhero setting. He is in fact now a comic book superhero.

Ambush bug is still punching OL through the 3rd wall and if I had to guess the snips are ambush bug taking breather between punches cause he's no in shape. The reason OL isn't fighting back is because he's being partly superimposed onto his counter parts they're thought processes actually overriding his own leaving him on the whole distracted.

Actually, it's probably more to do with the fact that using that ring messes with his head in a way that OL and Grayven's don't. Being able to casually do space-magic is awesome, but having your brain stirred about to do space-magic is somewhat less awesome...

And we all know what happens when comic book superheros die.

(Crisis of Infinite Pauls when?!)

Huh, I didn't even know this type of Lantern was out there. Well that takes care of green. Figures that this color would be the worst for Paul so far.

This is going to be the first time where I'm skipping a chapter and it's daily updates for the simple fact that I can't wrap my head around the chapters and the contents going on inside of it. I'm not saying the episode or chapter is good or bad, I simply don't understand it's context. This confusion though I must say is doing wonders to break my addiction.
Yeah, i've been getting fairly confused too so don't worry.

I'm probably just going to do a reread of the series. Hopefully by the time I catch up things will start making sense again, or maybe some kind soul will write a guide for these sections.

This particular ring inevitably kills its bearer by overloading their brain. He kills himself first and is resurrected regularly, thus the suicide comment.

Three days since my first suicide.

Less than a day since my most recent. Carbon monoxide really is the way to go. None of that nasty business with needles or slicing your own wrists open and having to watch the blood pour out. Between pulling myself out of the Lazarus Pit and going to sleep with the gas mask on, I get about eighteen hours.

That's probably due to the AI being in control and artificially amping his will. The more skilled and experienced a lantern is, the more efficient their rings become. So he can do more with less since his brain is being forced to operate as the most efficient interface with the ring.
