Not really; calling the injuries he suffered "instantly fatal" is what missed the point since we aren't talking about some random person, but him. He does, in fact have a power ring, so something like ripping his heart out isn't instantly fatal.

I am not a doctor (only the son of two), but I am pretty sure the shock alone would make the injuries Paul suffered instantly lethal on most scenarios... If he were a normal human, good thing he is an enhanced human that has often twisted his human perception and chemical balance of his brain (using the ring to compensate), so the shock from a severed or extremely damage spinal cord is inconsequential to him... Anyone else isn't going to be as lucky.

With that casualty rate Luthor's probably got quite the smirk from how he's managed to secure friendly relations with the guy who's removed or severely hampered so much of his competition.

......i just realized.

How many villians do you think ended up in hell?
His hell to be precise.
And if they had a previous deal with him.....goddammit.
Yeah Paul is going to have to deal with another demon attack.

Or this.

You'd die quickly, but it wouldn't be instant, and OL only needs about two or three seconds to get back to normal. IRL, getting the lower half of your body cut off doesn't result in instant death.

Depends on your definition of instant. You'd have as long as it took gravity to cause the blood pressure in your brain to drain out your new giant hole and for you to fall unconscious, and that's definitely going to happen quickly.

"He's stolen our cat, behanded our Atlantean, converted our flying brick, had him splatter another two of us, and completely unmasked the League of Shadows!"

"
He gaff me a peef of hif cake. *gulp* So good. I need to get his recipe."

Honestly, Lex might be throwing the light to OL specifically because OL is helping him get everything he wants WITHOUT the insanity.
He probably figures it's win/win for him, so long as he can stay on OL's good side. He rises in influence within a pruned-down Light, gets at least some of what he's going for with OL, and can swing to either side if the other is destroyed.

OL's power ring regulates blood pressure, though.

"What's wrong Luthor? I thought that you were big on stealing cakes."

"I was, but I decided it was terrible."

"Mister Miracle and I went over the city with a fine tooth comb. We think they used a form of spatial portal called a hush tube, but unfortunately we can't tell where it came from. They just don't leave enough of a trace. We built a detection system so that hopefully whoever it was won't be able to try it again, but we don't currently have any way to stop it."

Does the detection system cover Earth-16 or just Kahndaq?

If not the whole earth I assume additional systems were set up covering any important targets a vengeful Apokalyptian god might decide to ... tickle?

<Somewhere in Africa a pack of hyenas sits patiently waiting>

<Suddenly chunks of Vandal Savage begin to appear as from nowhere>

<The pack falls upon the pieces of meat, devouring them until they are gone>

<Sated, the pack sits patiently, awaiting the appearance of its next meal>

"Look, just because his patron is a goddess of chaos, he has his own demon horde and is the Agent of the Serpent of Greed doesn't meant you can't trust him."

Ping!

"....OK, I can't quite believe I said that either."

Having 'invented' farming the hyena pack devotes time to other things. Soon they have discovered art! Next they discover a nearby tribe of hairless monkeys and begin trading their native folk art.
