Why do you (and several others) continually repeat that you don't like how Paul's been acting?

Because he is making enemies when there are other options available that getting a God or at least his/her minions angry with you.

Not to mention that he ignored Jade wishes and just resurrected people just because he could. When his excuse is that he was doing that for her.

He used to care about other people thoughts but now is his way or the highway, even when the person he is doing the "favor" to says no.

This whole mess wouldn't have happened if he had listened to Jade.

When he was Paulphidian the first time he wanted to make his friends happy. Now that he is greed "enlightened" he only cares about doing things his way no matter what.

Edit: Since the Paragon Path is the "best" option because it gets you the most allies, Oh El is not a Paragon anymore. His latest choices are costing him allies.

We are angling for a proper Greek epic level quest to break the bones of hell, but unlike Greek heroes we aren't going off half-cocked. I happen to enjoy the prep stage. Makes it feel like a proper Shadowrun instead of a dungeon crawl.

1. Oh come the hell on. You act like this is new. Paul has been pissing off jumped up magical lifeforms since day one practically. His actions and plans flat out killed a Lord of Order and Chaos. Now, Chaos might not care, but you think Order isn't pissed? I didn't hear anything about that. Grayven flat out pushed the Darkseid button repeatedly, how much shit did he get? Let's face it, some people are pissed off because it was their religion that got poked, that Paul was completely irreverent towards. Zoat has had the two characters alternate between flat out insulting Zeus to earn a thunderbolt, had Odin strike a deal with NAZIS, but this....oh THIS has just crossed the line! Puh-fucking-lease.

Also, what other options where available? Just because you say there were, don't mean that there were. Paul didn't have a line to Yahweh to ask if he had a cup of forbidden fruit.

2.At no point did Jade say at the beginning "No Paul. Do not do this for me." Now, she has the excuse of having no clue that he really could. Now, he stopped resurrecting her victims as soon as Jade demanded it, but let's face facts. Paul was going to do Lazarus pit research whether it tied into Jade or not. He was trying to take out two birds with one stone, and put forth a nice gesture. It didn't work how he had hoped. But did pay off in other ways.

3. This is incorrect. Paul has pretty much done whatever the hell he wanted this entire time. He MIGHT have held back on more extreme things for fear of upsetting his group, but that's about it. He has not once held back on scolding someone who was doing something he didn't like. Furthermore, besides working to make his group...well HIS group mentally so that his powers would work more effectively, Paul was only ever held back by the oath over his head, and his desire to keep his word. He isn't a rookie any more, worrying over the impression he was giving to the "higher ups". Add to that, that they failed in a pretty big way in his eyes, then he goes off to found an entire new Lantern Corps, is it any wonder Paul is now holding himself at the Justice Leagues level, instead of a "side kick" they can boss around? Plus, along with the rest of the team, Paul openly disobeyed orders at the drop of a hat, especially when that's what his team wanted to do.

4. Really? It wouldn't? So if Paul would have listen to Jade he wouldn't have stolen a fruit from the garden? Beyond that, if you think Paul wasn't going to research the Pits, then I don't know what story you've been reading. At best, it wouldn't have involved Jade's victims if he had been convinced not to by the argument she DIDN'T give.

5. HA! Beyond the fact that Paulphidian did what he wanted to UNLESS asked not to, I really don't know what you're talking about. He wanted to make his friends happy, had ideas on how to do that, and then held back somewhat when they flat out asked him to. Remember when he/they almost tore the mountain down to make Kon's armor? He talked to exactly ZERO people about doing it, and scared the hell out of them when he did. Did he ask about moving the moon? How about the cake?

Finally, at what point has Paul done anything since coming back to earth that his FRIENDS asked him not to do? At what point during this time has Paul set out to do something, been asked/told not to by the person he was doing it for, and then done it anyway? Jade said she had some issues with it, wasn't sure it would help, but I don't recall her saying "Please don't." and then Paul did.

Moving back, remember Nabu? Paul did things his way right then and there. Did he ask permission to colony drop the Citadel? What about the total societal shift he punched through on the eye ripper planet? How about all the rings he handed over with Guy sitting right there? The Anti-GL battle station and the GOD DAMN Weaponer recruit?

Paul has ALWAYS done what he thinks is best.

I mean, I agree with many of your points, but this one makes no sense. Everyone does what they think best; it's just a matter of what factors influence "best-ness" for each person. Politeness and social norms are typically not one of those factors for Paul, though, as you've noted.

Perhaps not the best phrase for me to use, but I was attempting to point out that the whole "Now he he is greed "enlightened" he only cares about doing things his way no matter what." is false. Paul isn't acting in a new manner. It's been an escalating thing, but Paul has pretty much done things his way constantly. He did refrain from killing Joker, and talked Adom out of it, though I think that was more to keep Adom from looking "bad" in the Justice League eyes then anything else.

People don't always follow their best judgement. Sometimes it is because they don't have the self-control or attention span to do so.

I disagree, though I will definitely concede that people will frequently look back on their decisions and decide "yeah, I coulda done that a lot better". But without the benefit of hindsight, I believe that people will do what they think is best with the information they have. Whether or not they thought the situation through well enough is another matter entirely.

Ms Grant nods. "I'm sure that the Martians are very grateful that she's willing to help them. Moving.. on to the second thing that's brought you into the public eye lately, can you explain why you were seen speaking to an angel in New York last week?"
Interesting how so many saw Zauriel and immediately realized he was an angel, rather than a thanagarian like Hawkman.

Must be one of those things people just know the moment they see them...

Addicts tend to know that indulging is a bad idea but do it anyway.

Because the alternative is being trapped, clawing at your own mind and unable to cope with anything. Trust me, I was an addict for a while there; go long enough without that, and without some phenomenal support to fill the hole that drove you to addiction in the first place, indulging in the addiction is the only way you can function at all some days. Was getting stuck in that addiction the best idea in the world? Hell no. But at every step, I took the best choices I knew how to make in order to try to preserve my mental and emotional state. It just worked rather poorly because I never had a chance to learn better options until it was too late.

If Paul continues to act like a condescending asshole with a holier than thou attitude, then I don't think it should be a surprise when the opinions are stated again after each update where he displays that behavior.
Fair enough. But you might notice that for every person who's speaking out against Paul's behaviour, there's one speaking out that they approve of it. So just don't go claiming to represent the majority opinion.

6.1 I just talked to God. He was pleasantly surprised that I was able to come back & inform him. But still, I need to continue to accompany you till you repent.
hell, I suggested that Zauriel would be back right after the chapter where he ate the seed. :) He decided the info about Blaze was more important that pestering OL, but there's nothing about that decision that says he can't come back to the lower prioity job once he's done with the higher priority one.

Hail Eru's.

Hail Eros.

Hail Eris, and holy shit autocorrect is determined to stop me.
It's almost chaotic :lol:drevil:

1) When has OL ever really cared about pissing off an authority (any authority) as a side effect of one of his plans?

2) He didn't ignore Jade's wishes. She felt regret for her actions, he brought up the possibility of using Lazarus pits, and she tentatively agreed, partly due to not understanding how much effort he was going to put into it. When she outright told him 'enough' he stopped. And he was always going to research Lazarus Pits at some point, because he doesn't want his in-group/friends/loved ones to die. Jade's regrets just pulled it off the back burner since he could kill multiple birds with one stone.

3) By "this mess' are you referring to the whole Garden of Eden/Angel thing? Because things were already headed this direction even before the Lazarus Pit thing. Getting pulled into Hell and seeing what Satanus is up to merely upgraded the priority. Sephtian commented that they needed something to bridge the gap between Blaze's demonic nature and the Wings' divine nature. That reminded OL of the Fruit (he's known where Eden was since before he left to create the OLC).

Having no confirmed way to contact the Silver City (no evidence that the Pope's ability to 'talk to God' is more than a metaphor), and Thana apparently being attacked for having the temerity of knocking on the door and asking if she can talk to one of the residents, oh yes, and the general lack of Heavenly forces doing shit in response to Hell's activities on Earth, he decided talking would be a waste of time. So he snuck in and stole a fruit. It's not like he went in guns blazing, mowing down the guard(s).

4) Which Allies has this cost him? Heaven? There's no indication that Heaven was going to get off it's ass anyways. Hell assuming Zuriel comes back and Blaze recovers, he`s actually up a couple allies. Or are you going to insist that every Christian in the world must declare blood feud against him?

I think you have a weird definition of "a person'sbest judgement" and being unable to exercise your best judgement because your mind is incapable of doing so is still a failure to exercise your best judgement because you are your mind.

If I can't use my "best judgment", then it's practically a nonentity, isn't it? Why factor in a level of judgment that someone can't meet at the moment? So I scale down the expectations until I hit the best that someone can actually do with the information and mental ability they have. Best judgment isn't a hard bar to meet, it's a sliding scale that's influenced by hundreds of different factors every day.

Isn't divinely audible, the general populace is working on visuals alone, right? I'm not saying they would, but could Paul et al. calm things somewhat by claiming the "angel" was simply an alien? It doesn't seem more unlikely than Superman looking just like a human.
Is it really a good idea to lie about this?

Riots don't just 'happen'
Eh... Kinda, they do. Most rioters wouldn't riot if they were in their right minds but psychological effects can cause groups of people to rather suddenly and without forewarning flip over into riot mode.

up until it says "there are not three," at which point I say it has contradicted itself.
It's not really any more of a contradiction than saying that a triangle has three sides, and if any of them weren't there it wouldn't be a triangle.

"Oh, Zauriel? He wanted to retire to civilian life and his bosses weren't giving him permission, so I helped him build up the courage to tell them."

@Crimson Doom
It is a colloquial phrase and isn't completely literal.

Compare if I roll two die gambling and the best total is 12. Technically the best possible total would actually be whatever I rolled because that is what physics would dictate but when 'best' is used in such situations people are generally implicitly referring to a set of hypothetical results greater than that of the only possible result.

Yes, it was called morphine. Heroin was a mildly different formula meant to be less addictive and have fewer side effects.

Edit: Ok that's not strictly true. Morphine is a drug derived from Poppy flowers, the main component of opioids. That's opium, morphine, heroin, and many more. All of them are chemically very similar, with most of the variation being in the preparation of components. Heroin Is essentially a more concentrated (typically, it can be diluted) version of morphine, but is otherwise very similar in it's effect on the human body, albeit with several times greater effect.

This isn't accurate. Heroin isn't a "more concentrated" form of morphine at all, it's a prodrug to morphine that passes through the blood brain barrier more easily. The acetyl groups allow it to pass through the blood brain barrier more easily than an exposed hydroxyl group, then the acetyls are cleaved off by the body, allowing it to bind to various receptors (mainly mu opioid, of course, but in the case of morphine there are numerous side targets).

Again, Zoat, if this is all actually leading somewhere interesting, it will be worth it to see him humbled. But if he's going to act like this for the rest of the story, could you give us a warning so that we can jump the shark in advance?
No, I'm not doing the tall poppy thing. Characters can succeed and take pleasure in their success without me feeling the need to bring down the nemesis hammer or hit the reset button. As I said last time this came up, if you want things to remain the same there are any number of other stories for you to choose from.

If the SI lost a fight and survived, he would not somehow become more humble. At most, he would switch back to Nabu mode, frantically researching and telling no one what he was doing.

If this is actually a sticking point, I can add something about him appearing in a blaze of glory felt by every devout monotheist in the area. I didn't make specific reference to it because the SI wouldn't have felt it or seen a picture of it ahead of going to talk to him.
Thank you, corrected.
