Besides, who cares if he doesn't like it? If the City has problems with mortals trying to protect themselves from Heaven's demonic leftovers...well then maybe Yahweh and his angels should have been more devoted of that whole shepherding thing.

Yes, but maybe showing a person that you defiled the corpse of his comrade to super-charge an enemy is the wrong way to go about changing their views!

I don't believe antagonizing the angel to be his intention (or at least not a primary or even secondary one). After all Paul is Blaze's overseer and since the angel is going to be following Paul pretty much everywhere he was going to come upon this sooner rather than later.
Uh...you've lost me. When was Paul deliberately trying to anger the angel? Because I think I missed it. While his actions might upset the pigeon, they haven't been performed solely for that purpose.
Bringing the angel to that situation without explaining is rude and would lead the angel to jump to unfortunate conclusions.

Why is this like the fourth fucking time you've tried to piss off an angel in the last 30 minutes Paul? Is one pair of wings not enough? Do you need one for your fucking mantle?
I get the impression the term is "horrify", not "piss off". Also not try; succeeded. Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

Also, of course he needs a new pair for his mantle, he just used up the pair he had.

:D

Okay...I won't lie. Meh....Meh I say!

Besides, last I checked, Gabriel was an asshole. Also, OL has been defiling the corpse, if the wings count as that, for a long time now. Those angel feather bullets?

Well maybe the angel should fuck off then.

Also, said angel has already stated his mission. He's here to get Paul to repent. Anything else is a failure. Like say...jumping to conclusions and attempting to smite things. Of course...if he does that...and OL shanks his pigeon ass with the Sword of second and third and angel shanking....well that's one way of getting rid of him. Then again....more pigeons might show up. Damn...circle of pain in the ass.

Zauriel just indicated that Gabriel is considered if not Fallen, then disgraced at least.

If angels can retire, and this kind of biomancy works, do I see them donating their wings to heroic devout humans? Yes, yes I do. That should be fun.

Paul *speaking quickly* "If you're familiar with Gabriel's need for redemption, then you're aware of the circumstances that lead to said need.
Zauriel: *glow diminishes as realization dawns* Constantine?
Paul: Constantine.
Zauriel: *Facepalms*
Paul: As the primary defense of the Earth was in need of a magic user, and Constantine had seen fit to give me the wings, I thought I might kill a number of birds with one stone.
Zauriel: *with great resignation* Mortals.

Or, to put it another way, Zauriel, Righteous Guardian of the Eagle Host of the Pax Dei and all around Good Person is now coming face to face with the Constantine end of the Presence's impact on Earth. Some confusion and thematic schizophrenia is warranted in this situation.

Also, said angel has already stated his mission. He's here to get Paul to repent. Anything else is a failure.
He also stated that part of his duty while there is to make sure Paul doesn't commit any further sins or evil acts and if Paul attempts to do so, to stop him. Which this could be construed as.

What happens next really depends on how well Paul explains it, but while certainly putting a strain on future interactions I believe Paul capable of keeping Zauriel from attacking him through diplomacy.

4.16 "I had no idea that you had sought Gabriel's assistance in this matter. If he has achieved redemption, why did he not simply request the use of the fruit? He had the authority."
"Well, the Gabriel part isn't the one with the mouth. That kind of limits the ability to give orders. Unless...angels have some kind of wing sign language? They don't, do they?"

<Zauriel continues to gape in stunned horror>

"Hmmm, I'll provisionally take that as a 'no' for now."

I hope Zaurial is legit asking "what have you done" instead of the alternative which is more like 40k heresy response.

I really like the angel. I don't want them to have to fight. :(

It's like with the Justices league, he has high standards. So hi he has trouble internalizing yes this is a fictional world, but yes this world and everyone in it is real. Most of the time he treats people how you would in real life but those he followed in print for so long sometimes are expected to be idealised versions of themselves and that just is not the young justice verse.
Though I kinda hope to see the angel bless zatanas staff with the star saphire and Alan Scott's ring. Love the quote
You can have everything in the world, but if you don't have love, none of it means crap," he said promptly. "Love is patient. Love is kind. Love always forgives, trusts, supports, and endures. Love never fails. When every star in the heavens grows cold, and when silence lies once more on the face of the deep, three things will endure: faith, hope, and love."

And the greatest of these is love," I finished. "That's from the Bible."

...y'know, it says a lot about this story that I kind of expect that last line isn't said with shock and horror so much as curiosity and bewilderment.
