How exactly would you justify banning something that triples lifespan? Particularly as it, in its current form, only effects the children of pregnant mothers it is used on. Unless the law decides to start jailing people for being born there are innumerable people perfectly willing to break the law so their child can live a vastly better life.

Trying to get it banned would be political suicide as all your lobbyist friends turn on you for 'Trying to put my children in an early grave'.
You underestimate human stupidity. Just because something is safe and beneficial doesn't mean people will support it, and a lot of people have a very negative attitude towards human enhancement. ESPECIALLY anything that could be described as a "performance enhancing drug", which the Danner formula arguably is (albeit a permanent one). The Christians would probably say "If God wanted us to live three hundred years, he'd have made us that way.".

Somehow succeeding in banning it would just lead to a whole bunch of rich people taking a holiday somewhere it isn't banned (middle of the ocean for example) and coming back pregnant with a Dannered child.

Prohibition doesn't need to be practical, in fact it never is.

To be honest, i'm not quite sure why OL feels the need to resurrect all the people Jade killed.

I could see Jade maybe wanting to undo the six or so (relatively) innocent ones she assassinated, but not the others and neither can i see Paul wanting that. Some of those criminal targets might better stay dead.

Then there's the risk of them wanting revenge on their killer... or legal actions.

About the only reason I can see him wanting to do this, especially for the other 23, is for testing. I think he wants to know how to rez someone just in case someone he actually cares about dies.

Unlikely, Zoat doesn't use the homo magi on the general principle that "anyone can do magic," as Constantine has mentioned.
I don't believe I even mentioned anything regarding the homo magi in that post.

It just seems likely to me that the Croatoans would have inherited certain para-psychic abilities, (telekinesis, telepathy, extra-sensory perception, enhanced physiology, etc), from the sheeda to varying degrees.

Which in turn made spellcasting a LOT more effective and easier for their kind than it does for most others, who usually have to study, practice, meditate, pray and/or bargain in order to develop even a modicum of potential.

Is Paul really at liberty to call someone a cradle robber when he's a 30+year old man in a relationship with someone barely in their early 20s...

Or is that the joke
A thirty year old in a romantic relationship with someone in their early twenties isn't nearly the same kind of age gap as between these two.

Either way they're all consenting adults who know the true ages involved, so it doesn't really matter.

I'll bet making pits requires human sacrifice or something.

I am gonna guess there's a problem with getting the souls back in the bodies after this long of a time.

Also possibly finding the bodies if any of the people in question were cremated.

There's also the complication that if any of the Dead were Good Christians (IE good enough to not have gone to Hell), then the SI is going to have to breach the Silver City and Kill God to get them Back.

Talia told OL that clayface used it without permission. He didn't know she's the one who caused it.
The Truth and what Talia says are often very different things and usually quite aways apart.
There is no reason to take anything This said while Paul was interrogating her in France as gospel. It would be hard to come by a less reliable narrator as it were.

"No, he hasn't reappeared. I want to talk to you about the work you did on his Lazarus Pits." A wave of disquiet passes over her face. "Specifically, I know that you know how to make them."

"And you wish to bring someone back to life?"

"Twenty nine people, to be precise. I'm.. dating a former League of Shadows assassin, and I'd like to undo her murders."

"Undo-?" She does a cough-laugh, bowing her head for a moment. "How extravagant."

"After Missus Wayne dunked Mister Hagan, I know that things can go wrong with the process-"

"To put it mildly."

"-so I thought that -since you're the leading expert- I should talk to you before I did anything audacious."

"Yes. You should."
Aside from studying the restorative effects of the Lazarus Pits, I hope other means, technologies and substances of resurrection and renewal will receive their due as well.

Of course, once the restoration of the dead becomes valid in the eyes of the scientific community and the general public, (aside from there being metahumans popping up with the "Power of Resurgence"), I'm a little worried that society might go the way of Altered Carbon...

Not to mention how pissed certain murderous criminals could be if they found out that almost every single one of their victims was restored to life, their "hard work" undone.

Mr. Zsasz and Jack Napier for example.

There's also the fact at least some people can be eroded into dangerous creatures, like those in Hell. So really, leaving unrepentant criminals in whatever afterlife torture they got? More likely to make things worse, so scooping out souls before they can become demons or whatelse would be better. Which, really, makes murder an impractical long-term solution: Unless you can confirm the dead jerk isn't gonna be more dangerous eventually, better to keep them alive and imprisoned.

But it is possible to administer immunisation treatments without using needles. We've done extensive animal testing, we're as ready as we can be."
Yep, this works. Although giving a nasal spray to a dog that could accidentally bite your arm off would be dangerous. It would be near impossible to stop the dog pulling away, and it's not exactly easy normally.

Dealing with a super strong puppy that actually never gets exhausted would be quite a lot to handle.
Good to see that Paul's efforts towards transhumanism (in this case, having the Danner formula available for everyone) are starting to progress.
His efforts for transhumanism haven't progressed much yet. His efforts on transdogism are going splendidly, however.

General rule of thumb if being with a girl requires you to actually bring the dead back to life then you should probally look for some one who is a little less high matenance.

I think it's the other way around actually. If the guy you're dating has to bring the dead back before he gets serious, you may be dealing with someone who is, as they say, nuttier than a box of squirrels.
What I'm hearing is that they're "perfect" for each other.

Is Paul really at liberty to call someone a cradle robber when he's a 30+year old man in a relationship with someone barely in their early 20s...
As opposed to someone approaching 300 in a relationship with someone not yet in their twenties?

Test subjects.
Has OL considered that some of those people might not want to get resurrected? Also, it's likely that their souls have moved on to whichever afterlife awaited them. He might get into some serious trouble with the relevant "authorities".
They are perfectly free to kill themselves.
Triple lifespan, incredible resilience, perfect healing from injuries with just food being needed to achieve it. Once a dannered generation enters workforce, they'll dominate pretty much everywhere.
Triple lifespan is an estimate based on the physical age and condition of known Danner enhanciles; to date, no Danner enhancile has died of 'old age'.

God did.

I'm assuming that was the explanation for Unnatural Selection, because otherwise those scientists were breaking the anti-augmentation laws hard.
There's also the fact at least some people can be eroded into dangerous creatures, like those in Hell.
The League of Shadows doesn't put children on assassination missions. Not out of any moral concern; they're just don't have the skills at that age. No one Jade killed has been dead longer than three years at this point.
His efforts on transdogism are going splendidly, however.
Don't be racist: transcaninism.

Capitalize "Dogs"

I think the biggest concern with governmental approval of the Danner Formula isn't necessarily the risk to the individual. Of course it's safe for the recipient. The bigger risk is the danger to the mother during the child's infanthood and childhood, and to society in general -- every Danner enhancile is a nigh-unstoppable bioweapon in potentia.

The FDA is going to look at the Terror Twins and nope right the heck out.

In fact, in any nation with nationalized healthcare and mandatory vaccinations, I could see Danner formula becoming mandatory, with parents refusing the treatment facing some heavy fines. I mean, from an economic perspective Danner formula is a godsend. Triple lifespan, incredible resilience, perfect healing from injuries with just food being needed to achieve it. Once a dannered generation enters workforce, they'll dominate pretty much everywhere.
refusing the Danner formula for your kid won't be any more illegal than refusing immunization shots for your kids. Refusal may be stupid, but it's not illegal.

Doesn't the Bible say something about 'the years of man are three score and ten' or something like that? Are those people going to demand the deaths of anyone older than 70?

More like Nope their way all the way to Luthor to ask for another zero or two at the end of the check before they give it the all clear.
That all depends on how much pressure the SI puts on Luthor to keep things above the table instead of resorting to bribery. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns into media hype to make it unpopular for the FDA to resist.

That happened around the time of the Flood -- Man was CREATED to be more long-lived than that, but the statement in question (which said 120 years, not 70) was a prophecy for when the Flood would cut everyone's life short.

Depends on where you live. There absolutely are countries with mandatory vaccinations. And yes, this could be made illegal easily, with very heavy fines (used to compensate for increased cost of life the child will have compared to their dannered peers) used as an incentive.

Do Danner enhanciles consume more food than non-Danner individuals? Tripling lifespans without decreasing proportional resource consumption would have a pretty significant economic impact.

I'm a little surprised at how freely Doctor Munro told OL about their valuable research. Guess that means he's still on Lex's cool list?

It would be really interesting to see how Lex reacts now that he's not affiliated with the Justice League.
