Well, ladies and gentlemen, I think it's time to whimper and pray to Eris that Paul doesn't attract Darkseid's ire.. or comes up with a REALLY good plan to get rid of him.

.... cause I don't think Paul can handle a run in with the Anti-life equation.
The worst part is that he can't even bring the Ophidian to bear against Darkseid, because that'd run the risk of the very concept of desire being infected with Anti-Life.

I kind of hope it's Darkseid and Paul just beheads the guy with the sword of the fallen before he can even say "what".

Because that would make every single Renegade segment from here on out hilarious.
Indeed. And Paul has a lot of stuff that's potentially useful. Mageslayers, angel feather bullets, qwa weapons, a Hope ring on a guardian equivalent's finger, Ophidian, potentially Hope, Love and Will entities, a favour to call in from Dream of the Endless (for freeing the muse), whatever godslaying weapons Olympians have, a planet busting solar gaze attack his friends has, etc.

An alpha strike against Darkseid might work. Especially because Paul already likely planned to deal with New Gods, and studied Canis.

I also hope that this is a part where Paul learns to make his own exalts. Infernal ones, obvious, based on the need to repair people's souls after anti-life exposure, likely by using techniques adapted from his own Soul making tattoos and the work done with Harm.

I thought he tried it and nearly got a brain hemorrhage.
Sounds like it:

"Actually-" I wave my right hand like a student uncertain about the answer to the teacher's question. "-the quintessence waveform scan should bypass magic… Most magic. You could probably ward against it specifically or.. some sort of planar distortion? I mean, if they've put him in a parallel universe or something you're out of luck, and if they've moved him to another planet we could be here a while. But if he's on Earth and whoever took him hasn't expended massive -and easily traceable- levels of resources…" I nod. "I should be able to find him."

He frowns. "Why didn't Hal try that?"

"Because it would have given him a brain haemorrhage. I can only do it if the Ophidian helps and I can't.. retain most of what it shows me. That's why I brought this." I unsling the box containing my personal lantern and open it. "A location should be doable."

Instruction internalised. / Get thing!

Ah, Larfleeze Ring. Never leave us.

Are you trying to tell me that Paul has had a Larfleeze!speak Ring on his finger and we haven't been hearing "MINE MINE GET IT MINE NOT NOT NOT YOURS MINE!" at inopportune times the entire times we've had it? It be like having a Little Larfleeze with us!

For shame.

Also the spell check on the quote says it should be 'internalized'. Though that may just be because America.

Shouldn't Orion and Lightray be able to defeat (and kill) Darkseid if it came down to that ? Both have plenty of reason to make sure Darkseid doesn't get the anti life equation.

What does it say that Renegade got Sinestro and Paul got Larfleeze?

Given that human can be extrapolated to mean Earth-Dweller to separate from Gods, it's entirely possible that that definition could be extended out a little further than our species. Now we'd argue whether as a Titan she's of the Earth, or Gods. Especially as she's born of Gaia.

I'm just amused at a bunch of interstellar enforcement-robots using a catchphrase that one way or another doesn't apply to most of the beings they'd be likely to run into. Including themselves.

I presume it's a translation issue, but I still find it funny.

EDIT: Also, I like the image of the Manhunters getting as close as they can get to being exasperated over having it pointed out to them over and over again.

"But I'm a-"

"Woman, yes, we know. You are the 21,234,567th female who has pointed that out to us since we were activated."
