Am I the only one who really hopes we get to see OL run a smear campaign on general Hardcastle, hopefully ending with him being fired/imprisoned?

Yes. You're the only person on this thread who hopes that, in this forum even. Hells bells, you're likely the only person on earth who hopes that.

I disagree.
Circle gets a square.
Or in other words I think that would be an amusing thing to witness as well, and find it rather presumptuous for you to speak on my (and the entirety of humanity's) behalf.

This...makes me grind my teeth. Rationally I know that our new Orange Lantern can repair property damage through sheer Desire now. I know that he's reasonable enough to handle Hardcastle with nonlethal force.

True, but it's also possible that he really wants the Justice League to step up and start enforcing justice the way they proclaim to do. Even if it means letting the big scary-looking super-powered alien walk free and arresting high-ranking American military personnel for the kind of bullshit which seems to happen on a far-too-regular basis in superhero comics. Honestly, there are inmates in Arkham who have committed fewer murders and acts of property destruction on American soil in civilian locations than various generals prone to temper tantrums reminiscent of two-year-olds.

It seems a little unlike OL. Not that he wouldn't do it, but an extended campaign wouldn't be a good use of his time. He'd be more likely to collect a mountain of damning evidence, arrange for Hardcastle to face a court-martial based on said evidence, and make sure that any influences which had been protecting Hardcastle to that point (and presumably there would have had to have been a few for him to get to where he is and maintain his status, given his propensity for gratuitous and blatant violations of the Posse Comitatus Act (assuming it exists in America-16)) are removed or stymied.

OL's more of a drop-the-hammer guy when it comes to asshole villains, and likes to do it within the letter of the law where possible, and within the spirit otherwise. Especially when the villain isn't useful for anything. Hardcastle doesn't have any unique qualities, is easily replaceable, and should be removed from power if the law was being applied correctly and fairly to everyone.

Nah, he did it to the elected officials who let Count Vertigo go and CV turned around and did that plant thing with the Injustice League. Not a few of the politicians committed suicide.

Just wish I could remember what chapter that was in.

You know, of all the people Paul's recruited I'm pretty sure the one he regrets the most is Koriand'r, if only because he felt her to be better suited to the blue light, and one of the main reasons for her recruitment was to remove the reason for an arranged marriage he felt was unnecessary.

Honestly, I'm more worried about the strength of his desires. He doesn't seem particularly glory hungry and once he sets things right, what then? He seems better suited to green or some form of controlled red than orange.

That was the Renegade.
Hmm. If Konvikt goes orange-crazy, how will anyone stop him?
"The same way I'd stop anyone else."
His face
more violent than
so that it sounds
Thank you, corrected.

Maybe this will backfire massively and Paul will realise he isn't always right?
I'm pretty sure a call to the controllers can shut down the ring he just gave him. Major advantage vs Exalting people, you can take the powers back if they betray you.

Though, saying that, Gravvy has the Conquest aspect, so he's probably safer than most when it comes to that.

You know....

I almost want to see Hardcastle taking a shot at Paul and finding out he's basically declared war against an Interstellar superpower by doing so.

I should have seen that coming, it's par for course for OL. But I didn't. I did not see OL just recruiting Xalitan Xor.

Doubtful. Raging, impotent comic general's never seem to get in trouble. Or stay in it rather. As a life long Hulk fan I can inform you that Thunderbolt Ross has almost certainly caused as much, if not more, collateral damage then the Hulk himself.

Fucking hell I hate Ross....especially when they try to go all noble demon on him.

Trying to remember, hasn't his current incarnation completely destroyed his life ( and ended up in an ironic hell ala Red Hulk, to the point that he, sharding Thinderbolt Ross REALISED that he'd EARNED it), or did that get retconned again?

Captain Cold: "I've got to say, as military themed supervillain names go that's pretty bottom tier. It's not even alliterative."

"Hey, I think it has a good Ring to it, Captain! I mean, it IS what he does best!"
