the stance of ignoring everything from it, even if it is potentially positive to the story, feels petty as hell.

this is from someone who was pissed by what it did to Cassandra Cain and billy batson: their is still good in the new 52
There, and there isn't. Not really. They blended timelines, screwed cause and effect simply to save fans from losing Batman, they censored Constantine, and they ended Clark and Lois's marriage. Anything that could have been good, should have just been written in the original story, and that would have been good.

except the attitude of many is "the good is in new 52, so it can never be good again" as someone with a lot of their favorite stories in new 52, that's a steel toecap to the crotch whenever i see it.

Red Daughter of Krypton is one of them and most of it is good because of what happened to supergirl in new 52. i'm not sure it would have been so memorable with post-crisis version of her.
not to mention batwoman.

Yeah, I brought it up. Rao is likely to be very interested, and might offer Kon his own blessing too, if only to maintain parity with / one up Helios.

Also, I am fairly sure that "affects a gas giant on the global scale" is far above the firepower Kal El 16 can produce.

And it occurs to me that Kon is the most changed of canon character. I kinda want to see him end up on canon Themyscira, if only for the reaction of Diana and Hyppolita to "Kon El, son of Diana of Themyscira, champion of Helios", especially before he explains that he's adopted.
I rather imagine Hyppolita's reaction would be something along the lines of "Well done Daughter! It's about time you gave me some grandchildren."

fucking hell helios. he gave his champion a strategic scale weapon. I'm legitimately not sure what to make of that. I mean having something like that in reserve can be handy, but holy shit is that something he's going to need to be careful with.
Kon is basically a show-piece for Helios.
For a thousand years and more the Greek pantheon has had the amazons and that pretty much it. The female gods worshipped on Themascara were getting most of the prayers and attention. A mortal champion like Kon is an opportunity for Helios to advertise. A rare and treasured opportunity, hence why he is bringing his A-game.

The Orange Lantern Corps Astry? Perhaps?

I wonder if anyone is writing new Greek Myths, about the shit that the Champion of Helios is getting up to.
Of course! But it all reads like terrible slash fan-fiction written by Amazon's that haven't interacted with a man in thousands of years.:V

Or break out whenever aliens come knocking. Superman's got a 'capital grade' laser in his head according to one of Paul's offhand comments. Superboy's got a 'super villain's weapon of doom' grade laser. I'd imagine a lot of space ships are not up to going for a quick dive in the sun.

Honesty while this Superboy doesn't want to be Superman, there are only a few enemies that could be hit by surface of the sun lava and survive. And even the JLA doesn't fight those kind of enemies that often.

Braniac is hit with that? Dead.

Evil men from planet K? Might or not die depending on how much yellow sunlight they got beforehand.

Something that gets used only when is convenient is that Superman is stronger than Zod because Zod doesn't have years of using superpowers not is his body reinforced enough by yellow sunlight because he lacks the years Superman body being doing it.

Superman, any version of him, is used to holding back. Heck I think the main reason he ends with Wonder Woman sometimes is because with her he doesn't need to hold back that much.

No killing the woman you are having sex with because you lost control and that.

In fact an important part of Clark ending with Lois in almost any continuity is that he has lost his powers at least once and Lois didn't care because she loved him anyway.

Remember that live action Lois and Clark series? Superman ended depowered a lot. It also had one of the most likeable Lois Lane ever done.

Anyway relationships are based on trust and mostly honesty and Oh El has yet to tell the team he is over thirty.

Why didn't he do it? Because he doesn't want to. And because he knows that's gonna make things difficult.

Why isn't Oh El really helping Match when he has the resources to do so? Because helping Match is not a priority.

Even if he, who like Grayven has an encyclopedic knowledge of DC, can't find a database on K men biology there are still resources he can tap.

He just made a Blue ring man, Blue ring men are very very good at healing.

Grundy: Blue ring man wasn't green before? Grundy is confused!

Bizarro: Bizarro hopes for big family, Bizarro hopes for Bizarro League! Bizarro hopes for high score on videogames!

If that's a joke, it's over my head. AFAIK "colossal" is a perfectly reasonable adjective to use here.

If I may share my couple of penny-thoughts, I think it is to emphasize the origin of the ability. In this case, 'titanic', due to coming from the Blessing of a Titan, Helios.

At least, that's how I understood the 'correction'.

So, on rereading:
1) When they were leaving, the explosions were still ongoing. The only real ongoing explosion in a helium-hydrogen gas giant I can think of are fusion based ones. Kon was using the most powerful setting of a mystical sunfire on a gas giant, which is basically a not-quite there star itself. Did they start a self-perpetuating reaction that will cause Haron to become a new star? And, given that stars are alive, will it make Kon its (hers?) father? Diana's reaction to Kon fathering a new sun titan and giving her a granddaugher should be fun to watch.

2) So, Kon wants to be proactive, and the team are an internationally known hero team. They aren't a Justice League "deniable" assets. They are their own established force, in parts just as mighty as the League itself. I can see a lot of political and strategic talk happening. I mean, Paul could absolutely supply them their own starbase, and unlimited funds.

Or it could be a case of unintended consequences. Helios ignited a spark in Kon's soul and changed his eyes. However, he didn't account for kryptonean biology and soul structure which are strengthened by yellow suns. Said biology and soul then supercharged Kon's granted ability.
I doubt it. The difference in power from normal Earth 16 Kryptonians is just too large. And it seems to be working too much as designed; he didn't accidentally fry all his friends the first time he experimented with it because the blast was thousands of times more powerful than intended.

Corrections really went to hell this time. And back again! Didn't pick up any awesome magic swords, though.

Spider Guild Sept closest to Vega
At least "sept" (capitalization), but unless the guild considers the groups to be family-aligned it feels off. Possibly "sect" but even that doesn't quite feel like the right choice of word because "sect" implies religious identity. Less colorfully, "faction" is at least milquetoastly correct.

soul-carved runes (something that Atlantean military should have been all over and willing to pay Constantine a lot to learn how to do)
IIRC, Sephtian was intimidated by the idea of carving runes into one's soul. Not only is it a difficult thing to do, it has metaphysical implications -- implications that OL doesn't need to worry about because the status quo for him was oblivion, but that rank-and-file enlisted people could well have good reason to be afraid of.

M'Gann - she's got additional training, a lot of it, and some equipment (psionic amplifiers). Otherwise, as canon / start of the timeline.
WoZ said M'gann was the most powered up relative to the original timeline. This may have changed given Kon's upgrades now, but I think you're understating just how powerful M'gann is with the Star Conqueror morph.

How does the solar flare go through his helmet?
he just raises the visor. He was using an 'Environmental Shield Generator' to breathe, not a space suit.

Bizarro: Bizarro hopes for big family, Bizarro hopes for Bizarro League! Bizarro hopes for high score on videogames!
you don't have the proper Bizarro speech ticks there, it should be 'Bizarro hopes for small family', and 'Bizarro hopes for low score on videogames'. Not sure how Bizarro would say the middle part...

The planet was only about Saturn sized, so probably not big enough to maintain the reaction. May take a few years to settle down though.

Probably "sect" (both capitalization and spelling correction) but even that doesn't quite feel like the right choice of word because "sect" implies religious identity.
Sept is a real word.

She is? I mean ok, she's a martian, any meaningful upgrade would, in absolute term, be greater than most upgrades to a normal human, but in relative terms I would say either Artemis (Danner formula, crumbler, mageslayer and other special arrows, spell eater, a bow that can take full advantage of the Danner formula, actual armor) or Kon are the most advantaged here.

Magic and kryptonite. Magic spark from magical solar vision, kryptonite from the system debris. Both blatantly violate conservation of energy, so who knows...

The canon omake gives her six-way multitasking, in addition to greatly enhanced telekinesis and telepathy. This is huge.

I haven't read anything in ages, but the only new52 stories I liked were Wonder Woman, Batwoman and Demon Knights. In other words, stories where the authors ignored any elements from the reboot and made their own thing, then quit as soon as editorial meddling was starting to loom on them.
