"
Oh." Something occurs to her. "And thank you for not making any Sleeping Beauty references. I understand that they're culturally expected, but I used to be a Guardian and I fear that my sense of humour will never quite recover."
Wait, what? Where did this come from? Why does she know this? What is she aware of exactly?

This almost kind of seemed like she was addressing Mr Zoat instead of OL.

"Yes, so I see. If everything goes wrong, try not to destroy them. Now." She passes me a device which looks a little like a pair of headphones. "Put this on Larfleeze when you reach him. That should keep him in a daze until we can come back for him. Getting the Orange Light Well is your only objective."
Paul: "Guess who?"
Larfleeze: YOUUUUUUU!!!
Paul:"I came to give you back the Ophidian"
Larfleeze: What?
Paul: "Yeah, I have this awesome thing that's a million times better" *Points to headphone-like-device*
Larfleeze: MIIIIIINEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Paul: "Oh no. Please don't. Don't take them. And don't put them on your head."
Larfleeze:*Puts them on*
Paul:*Smiles*

"And then what happened, OL?"

"Well, then I stole the Orange Light Fountain while Larfleeze was distracted playing air guitar."

"...what?"

"Turns out, she has a really awesome music collection."

Now this, right here, seems like a blatant lie. Primarily because she's got the thrice-be-damned self awareness to actually SAY IT. Also, given how she's basically Controller Ganthet, and was buddy buddy with him at one point, I have to wonder whether she was pals with either Rami or Sayd.

There are a few plant species that survive there that no longer exist anywhere else on Okaara.

That's super ambiguously worded, on first read it sounds like the "on Okaara" restricts where you're looking for the plants. So there's some plants "there" that don't exist anywhere else on Okaara, rather than there's some plants on Okaara that no longer exist anywhere else *period*.

Easiest fix is to use "There are a few plant species that survive on Okaara that no longer exist anywhere else".

I get that OL is talking about Constantine's scry wards (though he's not the only one who uses them) the fact that she built a device made me think of the Shizo tech. Something has to be causing it....they have weird shit on earth that they don't have ANYWHERE else.

As mentioned this is likely do to Earth being the Fifth World and home of the life entity.

There are plants that exist in the forest of weeds that don't exist elsewhere on Okaara as no one wanted to risk angering Larfleeze by nuking it even when nuclear war waged across the rest of the planet. Presumably said war was responsible for killing off those plants everywhere but the forest.

He's talking about Okaara plants that only survive around the Lair of the Beast because his presence keeps everyone else away.

Space bends around-.

"Are you sure you wouldn't-?"

"I'm sure."

03:04 GMT

Space bends-.

"I'm perfectly capable of-?"

"I know."

03:21 GMT

"
You did say that it took you mere moments-?"

Space continues to bend around us, despite Hinon trying to be a back seat Controller.
"Are you sure you don't want to ask for directions?"

"I can read the map perfectly well! Now let me drive already!"

I think the reasons these have been reading quickly is because HHH here is pretty much the wittiest, least uncertain character we have seen in the entire story.

Hinon made her own prophecy to create a savior of the Orange Light. She waited three billion years for Paul to arrive. She considers this an interesting science experiment; she could have handled 'savior of the Orange Light' herself.
Hinon and Krona used to work together on ideas that pushed the boundaries of knowledge. Without Hinon, Krona accidentally created entropy and was reduced to his constituent atoms.
Darkseid hasn't come to Paragon-Earth because a three billion year head start is not long enough to pull one over on Hinon.
Paul actually never made a connection to the Orange Light. Hinon is just running a psychological experiment where he thinks he did.
Hinon does not have a 'sense' of humor. She simply knows.

This reads like Skitter Facts.

Huh....all that just makes me hate her. Especially that last part.

Wait, what? Where did this come from? Why does she know this? What is she aware of exactly?

She's more than capable of remote-reading everything in Paul's original ring (the one he's still wearing), which includes all the information it sucked up about Earth and its inhabitants over the last year. Which is probably anything it could scan and everything on the internet, and may also include a copy of everything the Ophidian saw when it quintessence-scanned the planet while merged with OL.

"That a real power ring?"

"No, its just a very convincing fake. It can't actually do anything, I just walk around with such confidence that everyone assumes that it's real. Don't tell anyone!"

A single individual stands before the front entrance, arms folded behind his back.

"I don't f%$#ing believe it... Its that guy who sent a horrible monster to burn down my house! And now he's come to finish the job."

Surprised only one Controller is waiting at the door and not more. Though I suppose others could be standing by in case of the worst.

In case of the worst the others are ready to escape.
Already told one joke about this guy in this post, but screw it; I'm telling another. You can't stop me!

C1: "Alright Steve, you go first, we'll be right behind you in case you need us."

C2: "Right."

C3: "Well, way behind you, just in case its dangerous."

C2: "Thanks."

C1: "Oh, and just to clear up any misunderstanding; when I said 'in case you need us', I meant that in a moral sense. If you need us to offer any physical support, then I'm afraid we'll be too busy escaping."

C2: "I'm glad our friendship means so much to you."

Well this update at least read quickly because it is only ¾ of usual update length.

Like Skitter Facts, it is a variant of Chuck Norris Facts/Mister T Facts/etc. where it is considered better for a fact to be technically true, mostly true, or arguably true. Or even just... completely true!
'Better' yes. At all frequent? Hell no.
'Facts' lists are, with extremely rare exceptions, crack filled nonsense and memetic hype.

I'm still shipping these two, in case anyone's wondering.
Just wait. You just wait. I'm calling it now Zoat is going to make Larfleeze female just to fuck with us...

*trys to look around subtly*

I would ship that.

Lets just be honest, we'll ship just about anything, for no other reason than it will start to piss people off.;)

The fic is great as-is, and SI's teleport spam makes action scenes more interesting than two flying people punching or shooting at each other. And it's okay to have powerful protagonists. But I find it difficult to believe that you couldn't think of ways to nerf all the assorted powers of the Lanterns yourself.
It's not so much that he couldn't think of a way as he thought it was a good example of a creative power that they really ought to have made more use of. It was after the full implications of tactical FTL really sunk in -- tens of thousands of words later, too late to change it -- that he regretted not nerfing that ability.

Okaarans

Not necessary: the SI is bi-curious -- see his feelings for Kon in early chapters.
