I find the Tumblrsphere way of handling things just as over-the-top as you do, but I'm not going self-righteously "that's offensive!" here. I'm not LOOKING for offense, but I have TAKEN it: I am, in plain words, saying that what you have said is a thing that I quite reasonably have cause to be upset about. You are with your words branding me -- not just some group of disadvantaged people for whom I am white-knighting, as Tumblr would do -- as an idiot, because I would have been very likely to have done exactly the same thing as the SI in this situation, for precisely the same reasons.
And no, that's definitely charisma, not wisdom. Wisdom would tell him that she would be upset about the subject matter, and I'm pretty sure he knew that. Charisma covers the skill of being able to communicate your insights, and a different choice of phrasing or framing could have gotten the point across more gently.
