You'd think he'd have his ring do routine scan in the environment he's in for that kind of stuff. He'd be very easy to assassinate as long as you know where he is and have a weapon that can go past his environmental shield (he can't restore himself or do much of anything if there's a hole through his brain).

OL imagines the Ophidian finding out he was cloned. "That depends, do you feel like having a very possessive supped up greed elemental ruining your life? And I mean one that doesn't care about whatever rules Captain Marvel uses to play the game? And before you say you can take it, remenber what happened the last time your dad tried to steal Captain Marvel powers. And try to remenber the eyes on the sky, the giant cake and moving the moon was said elemental just being nice."

Nothing says he can't come back later, since Venus is on the solar system and his promise to not scan everything would be expired by then.

Of course they probably will get rid of the base or teleport it away by then.
...yes? And? I'm not talking about him being sneaky and using the scan for Venusian Worms as an excuse to get info on the base, I'm talking about him scanning Venus for a species that can throw out a universe eater.

While of course Zoat can (and does) change what he wants, Mr Mind is generally portrayed as the only Venusian worm left in the universe, all others are just cloned drones he makes for his own convenience (and probably incapable of evolving into universe eaters, because really, why would Mr Mind want to be eaten by one of his drones?)

And I'm not an expert on Captain Marvel, doesn't Mr Mind generally live on Earth? You know, the planet teeming with people whose ears he can crawl into.

I have made no firm decisions on the version -if any- of Mister Mind I wish to use. I doubt that any creature native to Venus would survive particularly well on Earth and I doubt that Doctor Sivana Senior would keep one around.

Now picturing Sivana's latest diabolical plan- Venusian Mind Worms as the next pet fad!

Why take over the world when they can get people to willingly give them food, buy them toys, and knit them tiny tiny sweaters?

Okay, I'm gonna ask, is it calling Swamp Thing, a human shaped veggie, an earth elemental that seems so stupid to you?

Or retconning Firestorm, the nuclear man, into a fire elemental?
Mostly the idea of trying to shoehorn preexisting characters into a "four elementals" quartet because a completely unrelated character happens to be the representative of a conceptual force. Still, I'm a little leery on trying to argue that the Green counts as the classical element of earth.

Now I want to read that story. Yellow!Paul in the world of Bleach perhaps?

Except he'd be pretty screwed, seeing as how he'd have neither a green lantern to drain power from, or a yellow lantern to recharge from.

More DC centric setting possibilities include- The world of superman red and blue, Paul can help with the whole turning the world into a utopia thing....

Or Fear! Paul in the future of one of the more upbeat Legion of Superheroes

Or Earth 383, that one is weird and freaky- The normal (negative) inhabitants can't sense in anyway visitors, not even touch them, but the visitors (positives) can affect objects. However, when the equivalent of a negative dies, the negative becomes a positive too. So it's a world which has two civilizations, one of them comprised of the local equivalents of everyone who had ever died.

Of course, as the article points out, it can't be that simple.

DC also has a universe in which Earth is a utopia because after offing the Joker Batman killed all the other supervillains for dessert, and a universe in which everyone is a werewolf. Assuming that a universe in the DC franchise has to make sense after five seconds of thought is obviously not a standard DC has always been rigorous in applying.

A universe in which Swamp Thing is a werewolf and a swamp monster, or Victor Stone, half werewolf half transformer, is fodder for either a giggling fit or a headache.

So this is DC aping Marvel Zombies right?

Yeah, but fanfiction (and With This Ring in particular) often makes more sense that a lot of stuff that came out of the Silver Age. From a certain point of view, it needs to, though not always.

For love yea, but people marry for more then just love.

I could easily see some woman marrying him hoping to steal his money and or patents.
That... would not go well for this hypothetical woman, but given both real life and the comics, I do agree that it could happen. Might be interesting for him to actually be saved by his ex-wife, there, with or without help from CM.

I'm thinking, put Yellow!Paul in RWBY. First, you'd have some nice parallels with the YJ Pauls, trying to fit in on the junior squad while getting a handle on that verse's exotic tech, despite not being able to use the best of what's available, at least at first, due to the lack of a soul.

Then, he's got an added layer of difficulty to everything he does, since the Creatures of Grimm are explicitly attracted to expressions of fear, and he'd have to be very efficient with his use of the Yellow Light.

If he can figure out how to manipulate the Grimm directly, though, his mercenary attitude might actually be able to solve a lot of that world's societal issues through sheer intimidation diplomacy.

"I don't know, you'd think that a greed elemental would like having more of you."

"...no one suggest that idea to the Ophidian, please."

"C'mon! You could be your own Lantern Corps!"
Man, I'd do this if I could, but this is DC and Paul has already had to deal with a doppelgänger.

With the doom fortress and demon horde, making a clone army for himself, on purpose, might be one villain trope too far, setting himself up for an ironic downfall.

I'm very curious to hear what Zoat's own opinion is on the subject, though. Is there a particular reason Paul hasn't considered something to this effect, that we've seen?

Family Day (part 12)
25th April
10:12 GMT -6

Magnificus looks pained. "A week?"

Thaddeus nods. "Yeah. See, we were trying to work out where Dad might have gone, and this was the only lab we hadn't checked out."

"But we're on Venus."

Thaddeus shrugs. "Yeah?"

Ow! I glance down and see Georgia looking disappointedly at the scalpel she just poked into my right arm. I might not be wearing armour but my environmental shield still works. Beautia snatches it out of her hand. "His name is Paul and yes, it would be a problem if you cloned him."

Georgia looks up at me, jaw set slightly to the left. "Are you sure? Because I could make some cosmetic modifications-?"

"Yes!"

Georgia tosses her head to the right and waves her left hand dismissively. "Fine."

"Not that I.. want to end up as a Possum or anything-."

Georgia scowls at me, and I suddenly get the 'Thaddeus Senior in drag' comment. "One time! And he deserved it! Stupid, deceitful-!"

"What exactly is he supposed to have done that justified-?"

"He only pretended to be nice to me to get close to her." Georgia points her right index finger aggressively at her sister.

"Ah. Well… That shouldn't be a problem, since I met her first."

She shakes her head. "Mom confiscated the Possumizer anyway."

"Hey, orange guy!" Thaddeus Junior waggles some sort of.. technological… "Where'd you get this?"

"That's an invisibility generator from one of Truggs' mercenaries. Are you working with him?"

"Nah, we stole it from your subspace pocket."

What? Ring, status of subspace storage.

"We were going for your lantern but I guess you left that at home."

Subspace pocket is currently empty.

What?

Georgia nudges her sister with her right elbow as she reclaims her scalpel. "Did you know he can cook?"

What?

Thaddeus Junior grins. "Yeah, turns out? Guardians don't bother locking subspace pockets." He shrugs helplessly. "Eh, what you gunna do?"

Find out how to bloody quick. "I should probably warn you that in our testing-."

"Yeah yeah, mental instability in unshielded users. But let's be honest here: with us?" He smiles at me and, yep, Thaddeus Senior with hair. "Who'd notice?"

"I thought there was some sort of truce in effect..?"

He tosses the invisibility generator to me underarm. It doesn't quite travel the full distance and I have to step forward to grab it. Ring, sub… Space. I guess. I mean, I can't carry it around all day. It's just.. whaw, I stick everything in there. Okay, okay, he can't have hacked the ring itself so at worst he's got hold of a few weapons, and he's shown the ability to make more powerful ones than anything I put in storage. He couldn't fit in my armour…

"Where's the rest?"

"Storage warehouse seven. Nice armor, by the way."

"Thank you, Thaddeus." Georgia tilts her head up, eyes rolling back into her head. Magnificus gives me a puzzled look. What? "I would be.. perfectly happy to just.. talk about the technologies I use in future?"

"Where's the fun in that? C'mon, we should go say 'hi' to Mom."

Thaddeus leads the way, but his shorter legs mean that the rest of us have to slow to a crawl to avoid walking into him. Magnificus sidles towards me as we go. "You know, since our first encounter in Qurac… I admit that the Kryptonian was a better fighter than me."

"He is trained for that sort of fighting."

"If we fought again, it wouldn't go the same way. I've been studying Systema and Judo with the mercenaries Lex hired to protect our research center."

"Have you been sparring with other super strong people? Because super strength fights are very different to the normal strength fights most martial arts are developed to be used in."

"N-. No. I mean, Arnold once or twice, but…" He frowns. "And exactly how many doctorates does 'Kon-El' have?"

"None, but he isn't one year old yet."

"He's-? What?"

Thaddeus glances back. "Yeah, Magni, it was in 'People'. He got made in an exo-womb pod and they had these weird telepathic aliens teach him stuff while he was growing."

"Oh."

"When you say 'how many'-?"

Beautia exhales sharply. "One. Are we really going to-?"

"My second thesis is nearly ready for submission."

Thaddeus grins, his posture becoming slightly more upright. "Two."

Georgia smiles confidently. "Three."

Thaddeus brings his right hand up to his mouth. "Soft subjects."

Georgia grabs his left shoulder with her right hand and jerks him around to face her. "Social psychology is not a soft subject!"

"Oh yeah? Where's your control group?"

We come to a halt as the younger Sivanas ignore their surroundings in favour of squaring up to one another.

"My control group! You can't even measure quantum energy states without changing your results!"

"That's because it's not possible, not because the underlying methodology is flawed!"

I turn to the senior Sivanas. "Should we-?" They've both fished out hip flasks. Oh. "Ah. Um, what was that about finding your father?"

Magnificus waves his flask. "Father was always meticulous about taking notes. They've probably scoured the laboratory Father was using when he disappeared -and the police evidence locker- for every bit of information they could find on exactly what he did to create that portal." He eyes a nearby corridor speculatively. "He might have left something around here, but if they've really been here for a week-"

"We have!" / "We have!"

"-they'd probably have found it by now." He takes a slug. "Father will either turn up or he won't. Whatever he made, he knows more about it than anyone else."

Beautia sighs as her younger siblings return to their bickering session. "And wouldn't that be the perfect way to spend the day."

Hm. She is the one I came here with. "Beautia, darling." She lowers her flask in surprise, blinking at me as I take her left hand in both of mine and bring it to my lips. "I find myself in need of directions to warehouse seven. Which I assume is far away from here. Would you be so good as to escort me?"
