Huh, checking out the link for the martian animals it has another mention of white martians being egg layers.

I say another because the mother of the white martian hybrids I mentioned earlier was also established as an egg layer.

Interesting, although Zoat doesn't seem to be using it.
In other settings, sometimes White and Green Martians are separate species that happen to be shapeshifters and such. Here they're the same species, so they'd reproduce in the same manner

The greens and the whites are also the same species as the Burning who are a one gendered race who I very much doubt gives live birth considering they reproduce by painfully killing others.

Pregnancy leaves the parent vulnerable, to a Burning Martian that would not only be an easy kill, it would be a two for one special.

And the only citation for green martians giving live birth that I can recall is Death from a continuity that Zoat likes to pretend doesn't exist.

That's like saying neanderthals and humans are the same race. There's been a few thousand years of genetic drift in between the the burners and the modern martians, and the Guardian's meddling.

Right before mal's episode was Paul asking his ring something, that may or may not have triggered it, but one of the martians also said *Do you like seeing people suffer*

Mal couldn't possibly have heard that comment, since he's not a telepath, but it seems way too fitting if he's slowly turning into a burner.

Actually, since Burners had to be programmed to be crazy in the same way that modern martians are programmed to fear fire, wouldn't that mean Mal would just lose his mental blocks?

Why would he suddenly turn into a murderous sadist?

Even if he had telepathy, he couldn't inherit the Burners psychosis because there's nobody to pass that fucked up mentality onto him.

Not sure exactly what you're refering to, but the SI doesn't have a good baseline for Martian normalcy. If he does have a known disability and the other Martians around him (family who know him quite well) don't think there's anything wrong, then there probably isn't.
Still doesn't excuse the lack of genre savviness. Also ignores the fact that martians have serious empathy and societal issues if they can't read your mind. If someone's having a problem then it's pretty easy to notice that problem if you're a telepathic race. But he's a Blank which makes him pretty much unreadable to them. M'gann is a bit of an exception since she deals with humans enough to learn their body language which is what he uses but still. Also his empathic sight just pinged both rage and fear which is generally not a sign of everything being ok.

Actually, since there seem to be signs of the 'Mal got mind-raped' backstory being true, I found it very interesting that just after someone implied he might be doing something vaguely villainous, he got hit by what seemed like punishment conditioning.

Alright, but at the moment it's more a yellow flag than a red one. There's something odd happening, but he's thinking along the lines of sorting out an appointment with a Human psychiatrist than anything else.

which leads to you then eventually snapping violently, due to the intrinsically flawed nature of your teachings when applied to sentient's for whom experiencing emotions is the HEALTHY norm,

or in a less severe scenario, a lifetime of trying to turn yourself into a binary loadlifter emotionally leaving you with zero ability to handle severe emotional trauma when you CANT stay calm...

*edit* that's my core criticism of the core dogma of the Order, and the glorying /deification of STUPIDITY is my core criticism of the Sith's (not hyperbole .their tenants literally encourage you to sabotage yourself by killing your LOYAL, and just as importantly COMPETENT subordinates via classic villanous temper-tantrum for the slightest of failures. I got Force choked in KOTOR for pointing out the stupidity of this>.>)

Does that mean that the Guardians would only have needed to create green/white Martians for one generation and could then have safely brought back the burning ones?

Wait, where was it established that the Burning Martians were programmed to be crazy?
It wasn't. The Renegade made the logical deduction that it may have been the fact that the Burners inherited the toughts of their pre-sentient forebears that made them so feral, but he doesn't have proof of that.

Kon peers blearily out at them, before exhaling lightly and shaking his head. "I'm going back to bed. Tell M'gann's brother I said 'hi'."

"Okay."

...

**T'ronn, this is my Human friend Paul, and this…** She blinks. **Where's Kon?**

**He went back to bed.**

**Oh. I suppose it is kind of early. Ah, Paul, this is T'ronn.**

I hold out my right hand. **Pleased to meet you.**
He never said hi for Kon!

To be honest I don't really get this practice. I don't think I've heard anyone actually say hi for another person around me, and it seems so odd to have other people say hi for you. And in this case it kinda of just means "Kon saw you coming but decided he'd rather go back to bed."
"He probably did. Our early space explorers had the same difficulty. Patrol ships have crews of fifty or so these days, just to make sure the people they actually need are at full capacity."
Reminds me of the Known Space books. The puppeteers, an advanced species that came from herd animals, would send dozens of individuals to accomplish a simple task just for the company.

I really find rule 63-Zatanna appealing.

Artemis is okay but that Zatanna....
I've occasionally been known to completely ignore the description of a character in favor of my own image, and Rule 63!Zatanna is essentially how I thought John Constantine looked for the majority of the story.

Would an orange flag mean "Call the Ophidian." ?

His arms short, fingers clustering towards the end of the limb and being joined by two extra digits.

**Hello.** He takes hold my hand. **I am T'ronn M'orzz. M'gann has told me a great deal about you.**
Takes hold of my hand.

I sense much anger and resentment in you. That's very good; I can use that.

Join me, and together we can rule the Galaxy as Master and Apprentice!

Here's the plan: I'll maintain my position as Chancellor while you rally the various malcontents to your banner. A decade or so from now, we'll push the situation to a boiling point and war will break out, which I will use to gather more and more 'emergency powers' to myself, which I will then keep after we reorganize the Republic into a New Sith Empire. There's a lot of specifics we'll have to hammer out in the coming days, but at the end of the war you'll have a remarkable 'change of heart' and rejoin the Republic. We'll engineer the Deaths of the heads of the Jedi Order and seize control. There's this kid, Skywalker, who's crazy powerful in the force. I'll slowly leverage him to our way of thinking, and when the time is right he'll be our spokesperson among the remaining Jedi to turn the bulk of the organization into a New Sith Order.

Just follow the plan and at the end of this you'll be one of the two most powerful beings in existence. Trust me, and if you ever have any doubts, just remember what the Council made you do at Galidraan.

I followed the link, and I find the idea of Rule 63 Kid Flash hilarious.
Geeze, I hope that boob-shaped armor doubles as a sports bra. Oof.

Not as egregious as Red Arrow, though. Those must seriously interfere with her archery. What are they, double-D?

Ah, comics.

As far as I'm aware, there's no actual evidence that "suppressing" emotions works like that.

Indeed, DBT training asserts that performing the opposite response to the one you feel like helps to regulate that emotion, and focusing on relaxation, meditation, and logical thinking are common anger-management techniques.

I hope that T'ronn becomes a recurring character.

Trolling Martian is great. Nor sure what an anglicized version of his name would be, though. Tyrone? Trent?

That's a poor analogy. Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens were never descended from one another(outside of interbreeding), we're cousin species. It would be more accurate to say that the Burning Martians are the Homo Heidelbergensis to the modern martians homo sapiens(or depending on how closely Red, White and Green Martians are to each other genetically, Homo Sapiens, Homo Neanderthalensis and Homo Denisovans).
