Warcraft: Fallen Kingdoms (Old)

How the rolls, stats and bonuses work
How the rolls, stats and bonuses work

Stat Bonuses and Penalties

12 is normal, with no bonus or penalty, every point below 12 gives -4 to a roll that involves that stat, each point over 12 is multiplied by 0,5 and the result is rounded up if under 10 and rounded down if over 10.

Critical Success and Critical Failures

96-100 is the range for Crit Success!
Getting a Crit Success will often shorten the time to complete a option and give a better reward.
You get a Crit Success by naturally rolling 96-100 or if you get to 96-100 by the stat bonus from a character, if you do not get 96-100 with the stat bonus but with another bonus added it will not count as an Crit Success.
You can only get a Massive Crit Success by rolling 100 naturally.

1-5 is the range for Crit Fail!
Getting a Crit Fail will either lengthen the time to complete a option and cost you more gold or it will fail the option and can make a situation worse.
To get a Crit Fail you will need to roll 2-5 and with only the stat bonus added fail to reach the Required Roll stated by the option, if you succeed in reaching the Required Roll then the Crit Fail will not count.
Rolling a 1 naturally will cause a Massive Crit Fail and no bonuses will be added to the roll, only a re-roll can negate a Massive Crit Fail.

They have given you a report on the state of the military and the options that are open to you. They have also appointed Brigitte Abbendis as your bodyguard. (Pick 2)

[]Build Barricades at Noxious Glade: With Noxious Glade still under Scourge control we should build a barricade to contain the Scourge inside their base, while it may not stop a full frontal attack it will slow them down and let us inflict casualties, especially since the base is so close to our lands.

Reward: Noxious Glade barricaded, Easier to defend, Other options becomes safer.

39+9+5=53.

-It seems that it was the right choice to send reinforcement to Eastwall Tower, the garrison commander reports that they have spotted and chased away several Troll scouts, she believes that the Trolls will launch a raid against them before winter sets in. Reward: Eastwall Tower Reinforced.

Diplomacy: You are smart, beautiful and able to charm almost everyone you meet, is there any wonder why you have taken over the diplomatic aspect of the Crusade? (Pick 1)

[]Integrate Light's Hope Chapel: Now that we have contacted the Chapel and worked out a deal we can start to integrate them, it will take some time to make sure that our soldiers work well together and to ensure that there are no hidden cultists.
Cost: 7,000. Value Needed: 0/150. Reward: Light´s Hope Chapel integrated. Rolled:
23+9+5=37. New Value: 37/150.

-The work to integrate Light´s Hope Chapel is underway, it will take some time to sort everything out. Reward: Will continue next month.

[]Expand The Scarlet Enclave: While the small farming community, now called The Scarlet Enclave, has helped with the food situation, you still need more, both now and in the future. With the success last month you have decided that the next expansion will turn the community into a small town, though this will empty your ore supply.
Cost: 25,000. Time: 8 Month. Chance for Success: 80% Reward: The Scarlet Enclave becomes a small town, +1,500 Farming Income. Required: 20. Rolled:
9+5+5=19. Reroll: 44+5+5=54.

40+8+5=53.

-Our agents in Zul'Mashar has sent a report to us, it reads like this:

We have managed to infiltrate Zul'Mashar with no problems, during the time we have been here we have noted several things that could be of use and will list them here.

Prisoners: We have discovered that the Trolls have taken several prisoners, both Human and High Elves, we managed to make brief contact with them and found out that there is a lot of High Elf Refugees at the Quel'Lithien Lodge, there seems to have been a divide in the High Elves ranks and these Refugees are fleeing their lands.

Food: The Trolls have very little food left, they have started to eat everything they can get their hands on and even that is not enough, we could use this to our advantage, either by destroying what food is left or by giving the more and strengthening them against the Scourge, but also against the Elves and us.

Disease: Lately the Trolls have been falling sick, it started slowly but more and more are starting to become sick, we believe that this is the result of Scourge agents sneaking in and distributing the Plague slowly, hoping to bring the Trolls over to their side, we request permission to investigate this issue and to try and stop it.

Sabotage: We see several opportunities to sabotage the Trolls, their weapons and armor, their fortifications, their food supply as said before, we could also begin to assassinate their leaders and throw them into chaos, making them easy picking for other factions.

Numbers: We believe there to be around 14,000 Trolls in Zul'Mashar and the surrounding area, of course a number is sick and they are weakening from the lack of food, so they can´t bring their whole force to bear against the Scourge, the High Elves or us.

That is all for now we will update you on the situation if anything changes. Reward: Information of Zul'Mashar, New Faction - Zul'Mashar Trolls: Hated?, New Faction - High Elves: ???.

Learning: With both a Research Leader and a Research Building you can finally start researching the heavier projects. (Pick 1)

[]Fire Arrows: We need fire arrows to be able to deal with stronger undead units, our Archers need to be able to use fire arrows on the field and not just in fixed positions. hopefully Aldan will be able to come up with an idea.
Cost: 2,000. Value Needed: 0/80. Reward: Fire Arrows for Archers. Rolled:
73+7+5=85. New Value: 85/80.

-Aldan was able to discover a method for our Archers to use Fire Arrows when they want to by carrying a specially made ball of materials that would burn and just stick it on top of the arrow head, but that was not the amazing part, he was able to figure out a way for the Archers to light them when in the field, he calls this invention Matches, coating the end of a small piece of wood with a flammable material and then using the box it came in quickly drag the flammable end of the match against the side of it, which was coated in a course material, making the friction between the two light the match on fire, which you could use to light the ball on fire and you have a fire arrow. Reward: Fire Arrows for Archers.

Piety: High Priest Isillien has taken on the priestly duties that is needed. While he still continues his sermons about the undead, he has started to focus on rebuilding Lordaeron. He also has some proposals. (Pick 1) Locked

73+7+5=85. New Value: 164/120.

-Our researchers have discovered that there is a new type of fungus in the plagued soil, we don´t know if the fungus is the source of the plague or if the fungus is a side effect of the plague, but experiments done shows that the fungus does not like the Light and have a violent reaction to it, we hope to use this knowledge to detect the plague in humans, but we might want to do any experiments on plagued animals first. Reward: Plague Fungus Discovered, May have found a way to detect the plague, further research unlocked.

Personal Actions: With the help of Brigitte you are finally able to have some real free time. (Pick 1)

Turn 10
October 27 AFW (After First War)

Turn 10

Dancing with yet another nobleman you pay him enough attention to be flattering, but not enough so that it seems that you are "interested" in him, making small talk you discreetly look around the room for someone that you recognize, and don´t mind talking to, to get away from your more smitten admirers.

You are currently at a noble party celebrating the fact that the Scarlet Enclave is about be done rebuilding, well officially that is what the party is about, in reality it is nobles trying to get their sons/brothers/nephews to seduce you into marrying them, some even sent their daughters just in case you went that way, though they were usually more subtle than the men.

Finally finding someone that you wouldn´t mind talking you wait for the dance to be over and excuse yourself, walking over to Lady Marsei Cordell, current head of the house Cordell after her husband, Cedric Cordell, died to the plague, she is regent until her son has grown of age, currently being 10 years old. Lady Cordell is one of the noblewomen, and one of the nobles regardless of gender, that you could stand being around for a longer period of time, she has mostly sensible subjects to discuss, with the exception of when she talks about the Scourge and the plague, as she is of the opinion that anyone infected by the plague should be killed and their bodies burned.

Moving towards the noblewoman you grab a glass of wine before arriving and starting to make small talk, you talk for a few minutes before the discussion turns to other nobles.

"...and Lord Ellester, along with his followers, is still as vehement as ever that the other nations and races in the Grand Alliance has betrayed us and we would be better off without them, preposterous of course, but I can see from where he comes, oh and watch out for Lady Ganett, she is gathering support from the lower houses to try and pressure you into marrying her brother."

Thanking her for the information you spot another admirer coming closer, bidding farewell to Lady Cordell you turn to the man and smile, accepting his offer for a dance.

Military: Saidan Dathrohan has been appointed the Grand Crusader, the one in charge of all military matters with Highlord Alexandros Mograine and High General Richard Abbendis as his subordinates. They have given you a report on the state of the military and the options that are open to you. They have also appointed Brigitte Abbendis as your bodyguard. (Pick 2)

[]Expand Barracks: Expanding our current barracks will allow us to recruit more soldiers to our army, of course we will need to make sure we can handle an increase in soldiers so that we don´t tank our economy.
Cost: 12,000. Value Needed: 0/250. Reward: Can expand army.

[]Build Basic Defenses at Corin´s Crossing: Now that we have taken Corin´s Crossing we are not about to lose it again and while we are not under threat of an immediate attack it is better to be safe than sorry and build defenses to give us an advantage in battle.

[]Build a Tower at Corin´s Crossing: While we are protected by towers both in the north and west they can be taken out quietly, building a tower in the vicinity of the town will not only let us see an attack come from distance, it will also make the civilians in the town feel safer.
Cost: 2,000. Value Needed: 0/100. Reward: Tower at Corin´s Crossing, Tower Upkeep -1,000.

[]Build Barricades at Fungal Vale: With Fungal Vale still under Scourge control we should build a barricade to contain the Scourge inside their base, it may not stop them if they do an all in attack but it will give us time to prepare our army, luckily the road to the Vale is surrounded by mountains preventing the Scourge from overwhelming us. []City Guards: Right now our soldiers are guarding our city, preventing them from joining the battle against the Scourge and other enemies, widening the number gap between us and our enemies, therefore Richard have been proposing that we create the City Guard, a separate entity from our army, the Guards is to take over our soldiers duty in the city and protect it from attack, giving the army time to arrive and help drive the enemy back, as well as free up our soldiers for battles.
Cost: 4,000. Value Needed: 0/140. Reward: City Guard created, Soldiers no longer need to stay behind and defend City.

[]Upgrade Militia Equipment: Our Militia is using whatever weapons and armor it can get its hand on and that equipment would not be enough to defend themselves in case of an attack without taking heavy casualties, therefore Alexandros wants to upgrade the Militias equipment, giving them iron swords or axes, iron shields and iron armor, this will allow the Militia to be more effective in battle and reduce their casualties.
Cost: 2,500. Value Needed: 0/100. Reward: Militias equipment upgraded.

Diplomacy: You are smart, beautiful and able to charm almost everyone you meet, is there any wonder why you have taken over the diplomatic aspect of the Crusade? (Pick 1) Locked

[]Send a Message - Dalaran: We need allies in the battle against the Scourge and Dalaran has some of the best mages in the world, outside the elves, even getting a couple of mages from them will give us a great advantage and their enchanters would be a massive boon for us.
Cost: 0. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 100% Reward: A message is sent to Dalaran.

[]Send a Message - Stromgarde: The Kingdom of Stromgarde is considered to have the strongest human military force, during the second war their army was able to hold off the entire Horde on their own for a while, if we could get an expeditionary force from them it would give us a massive advantage in our fight against the Scourge.
Cost: 0. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 100% Reward: A message is sent to Stromgarde.

[]Send a Message - Aerie Peak: The Wildhammer clan has always been supporters of the Alliance and master Gryphon riders, if we could get a couple of Gryphon´s from them we could start our own air force, letting us counter the enemies Gargoyles.
Cost: 0. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 100% Reward: A message is sent to Aerie Peak.

Stewardship: You are a Genius and nowhere has that been more apparent than now, seeing you quickly and efficiently going through piles of reports and paperwork concerning every little thing in running the realm is awe-inspiring. (Pick 1)

Will be completed in this month.

[]Rebuild Corin´s Crossing: Now that Corin´s Crossing is under our control we can start rebuilding it, it will take time and money but getting the town up and running will relieve the pressure of our ever expanding Refugee Camp.

Cost: 2,000. Value Needed: 0/120 Reward: Mine expanded, more ore, +1,500 Mining Income.

[]Survey for Ores in Eastern Plaguelands: There may be ores in our newly acquired land that we don´t know about and don´t have a supply of, even if there isn´t any new ores we can still build new mines, getting us more ore and money.
Cost: 2,000. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 90% Reward: Knowledge of ore in controlled land.

Cost: 1,000. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 80% Reward: Information on Stratholme and the area in front.

[]Zul'Mashar - Rescue: We can´t let the prisoners stay with the Trolls, especially with how the food situation is with them and the cannibalistic tendencies that the Trolls in these lands have exhibited in the past, of course it will also give us a reputation boost with the High Elf Refugees.
Cost: 2,000. Time: 2 Month. Chance for Success: 80% Reward: Prisoners Rescued.

[]Zul'Mashar - Disease: With a disease affecting more and more Trolls you find yourself with a choice, find the source of the disease or let it continue unhindered, there are advantages and disadvantages to both options, if we can find and remove the source of the disease the Trolls will be more able to put pressure on the Scourge but also on you and the High Elves, if we let it continue it will weaken the Trolls but it will make them more vulnerable to attacks from the Scourge and if the Scourge manages to defeat them and raise their corpses they will get an even larger advantage in numbers.
Cost: 2,000. Time: 2 Month. Chance for Success: 75% Reward: Knowledge of how the Disease spreads.

[]Zul'Mashar - Food: We can always destroy what little food they have left, this will slowly weaken them over time as more and more Trolls succumb to starvation and disease, of course doing this may not be the best choice when they still have prisoners.
Cost: 2,000. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 80% Reward: Food destroyed for Trolls, Trolls may become desperate, Trolls may suffer penalties.

Learning: With both a Research Leader and a Research Building you can finally start researching the heavier projects. (Pick 1)

[]Ship Design - Light Ship: Before we can produce any ships we need designs for them, unfortunately we don´t have any plans for ships in Tyr´s Hand as it wasn´t a city with a port, but Aldan with help of experiment sailors and dock workers will be able to design something useful.
Cost: 4,000. Value Needed: 0/150. Reward: Light Ship Designs.

Interlude - Birthday Tournament
Interlude

Birthday Tournament.

Looking down at the arena the last two combatants of the tournament are fighting it out, on one side you have Lilian Voss dual-wielding swords masterfully, putting immense pressure on her opponent. Her opponent, Holia Sunshield, on the other hand prefers the standard sword and shield and she is defending herself exceptionally, not letting a single one of Lilians strikes through, the fight started just a few minutes ago and you can tell that the fight will take a while.

The tournament has been going for almost the entire day and there have been some amazing fights, you have ordered that an eye are to be kept on several men and women that has caught you and your advisors eyes. The reason for the tournament is to celebrate your twenty-first birthday, the combatants fight in your honor and to get your recognition, with you granting the winner's request, assuming it is reasonable, as well as some prize money and the citizens gets to enjoy a day of festivities.

Both combatants are tiring, Holia is no longer holding her shield as high and Lilians strikes are slower and weaker, the fight is close but in the end a victor emerges, Lilian drops one of her swords and grabs Holias shield and pushes it down, Holia, not expecting the move, is a bit too slow to respond and Lilian is able to punch her in the face knocking her unconscious, the crowd cheer with approval and you wait for them to calm down before standing up and beginning your speech.

"Lilian Voss, you have fought long and hard to get to this point, using your skills you have triumph over every opponent you have met and now you stand before me as an victor, you will receive your prize money after you leave the arena but for now let me hear what request you have of me."

Lilian is silent for a moment before kneeling towards you.

"You Majesty, I request permission to become your bodyguard and serve you in any way possible." Lilians voice rings clear in the arena.

You are a bit surprised by the request as most applicants seemed more interested in advancing in the military or being trained by one of the commanders, but giving it some thought you agree with the request.

"Very well, your request shall be granted, but know this, I will not tolerate you doing anything but your best, now go celebrate your victory, I will send for you in the morning." As soon as you stop speaking the crowd cheer again and though you can't see her face the way she behaves it is obvious that Lilian is very happy that you granted her request. When they arrived they were greeted by Ranger Lord Hawkspear, a male High Elf Ranger, once the situation was explained he promised to send a diplomat to us and as a thank you for the rescued elves he sent back some information on Stratholme, the elves have discovered a passage into the city that isn´t guarded they have been using that to get information on the Scourge troop movement and the recent month the amount of undead in the city has drastically decreased, by their count there are somewhere around 8,000 troops in the city, a small amount of what there usually is, Saidan have become very interested in that information. []Fungus in Soil: We will need to know exactly how the fungus effects the soil to be able to remove it, does the fungus only suck the nutrients out of the soil, leaving the flora and such to die of malnutrition, or does it have a more sinister way of killing nature, such as spreading its spore and when other flora and animals absorb it in different ways, slowly killing them from the inside, eating their way out before whatever it is they have infected dies and the process repeats somewhere else.
Cost: 3,000. Value Needed: 110/150. Reward: Further Research with Fungus in Soil, Knowledge of how Fungus spreads in Nature. Rolled: 100+7+5=112 New Value: 222/150

-Our researchers have discovered how the fungus spreads in nature, if the fungus is in plants it latches on to the spores and pollen the plants shoots out and using that spreads to nearby plants and animals, if it is in animals the fungus absorbs the nutrition the animal takes in and slowly eats it from the inside, once the fungus has grown strong enough it will grow appendages on the animal that shoots out spores once enough have been generated, once the animal dies some kind of magical reaction occurs that raises the animal from the dead, unfortunately the process of using the same methods to finding fungus in humans as in animals did not work, our researchers believe that either the fungus affecting humans use a different strain or something else entirety.

As for destroying the fungus we don´t have many options, fire is the only option we have right now and it is the worst one, we don´t have any magic that affects nature nor do we have a good enough mage to research a way to use arcane magic to remove the fungus, the Light may work but we will need to perform test first. Reward: Further Research with Fungus, Knowledge of how Fungus spreads in Nature, Ways to destroy Fungus.

Personal Actions: With both Brigittes and Lilians help you are able to do your work faster, giving you more free time to spend as you wish.. (Pick 2)

-Deciding to get to know your new bodyguard you set aside some time and spent it with her, unfortunately it seems that she thinks that it is improper to get close to you, but you manage to get some information out of her, it seems that her father raised her on his own, though she wasn´t forthcoming on what happened to her mother and you didn´t push for such a delicate subject, she also revealed that she had been trained since she was young for combat, always preferring to dual-wield swords to any other combat style.

She also offered to teach you how to dual wield, you accepted due to the fact that it would make you two closer and it may be useful in the future, this month you spent time on how to properly move around and hold a sword in each hand, as wells as what you should keep n mind when fighting with two swords. Reward: Learn to dual-wield(1/3), +1 Martial, Increased Closeness with Lilian.

[]Give Gifts to your Advisors: Your advisors have done so much for you and it is time that you show them how grateful you are, to do that you have decided to give each of them a gift for the Feast of Winter Veil.
Cost: 0. Time: 1 Month. Chance for Success: 100% Reward: ???.

-Deciding that each one of your advisors deserve a present you head out to find something for them, it took a few weeks to find something for each one but you managed it, you only hope that they will like it.

Your gift for Alexandros was a new pair of comfortable shoes, you weren´t going to give him clothes but when you saw the shoes it just clicked in your head and you just had to give them to him.

You got Saidan a few cans of different types of tea leaves, he usually drinks tea in the morning and you thought he would appreciate some variety.

Abbendis got a new scabbard for his sword, it is beautiful, though not enough to draw more attention to him on the battlefield and a perfect fit for his sword.

Brigitte got a new shield, she had been complaining, or rather mumbling under her breath, that her old one was starting to become uncomfortable to carry around in training and battle. Her new shield is a bit bigger and heavier than her last one but easier to carry around, the shield is decorated with the royal emblem with the Crusades color to denote her post as the royal guard.

Isillien was a bit hard to choose for but in the end you settled for giving him a few books on how the human body and mind works, he has become interested in these subjects lately.

Invar was given different types of alcohol, a blend of rare and common beverages, mostly from the keeps old supply but some were brought in the city.

You got Aldan some new tools, some of them was starting to be worn out so you decided to replace them with some higher quality ones.

You weren´t sure what Lilian would like but in the end settled on giving her some equipment that she can use to take care of her swords with.

When the twenty-fourth finally came around you delivered all the present by hand, to say that they were surprised would be an understatement, not one of them expected a present from you, but they were undoubtedly happy with their presents, you stayed and chatted with each one before moving on, you learned a bit more about them as they had their guard down for the moment. Reward: Closer to all Advisors, +1 to The Founders bonus.

Light´s Hope Chapels Integration - Start
Interlude

Light´s Hope Chapel - Integration - Start

You are currently in the last meeting regarding the integration of Light´s Hope Chapel, once this meeting is finished the Chapel will be fully integrated into the Scarlet Crusade, but there is a couple of things left to decide before it is complete.

"To summaries, this integration will get us Light´s Hope Chapel and its fortification along with its soldiers and its refugees." You are talking to your advisors along with Maxwell. "We will be getting 3,000 more refugees added to our growing refugee camp, brining our total number of refugees up to 23,331, just 9 people away from matching our Low Class population."

You look around at the others.

"There are two remaining issues left, what to do with the new soldiers and what position Maxwell will have in the Crusade. Let us start with the soldiers, the forces at the Chapel consisted of 200 Archers, 300 Footmen, 30 Knights, 20 Priests and 40 Paladins, no Mages unfortunately, for most part the new soldiers will join our army without problem with the exception of the Footmen, we will have to decide if we want to send them to the Crusaders or the Defenders, we have some suggestions already."

[] Crusaders: Abbendis wants them sent to the Crusaders to bolster our offensive power.

[] Defenders: Alexandros wants them in the Defenders to make sure we have a strong defensive line.

[] Balance: Saidan have suggested we send an equal share of the men to the units.

[] Write In: I on the other hand fell that we should send them...

"The last issue we have is the subject of what we should do with Maxwell, there have been some suggestions here too."

[] Paladin Trainer: Maxwell have showed interest in training new Paladins. Can train Paladins.

[] Military Advisor: It never hurts to have more Military Advisors. +1 Military Action.

[] Diplomatic Advisor: Maxwell has done very well in keeping the peace during the time he commanded the Chapel. +1 Diplomatic Action.
