Time of the Gods: Into the Amber Age

28.1: Communion
Advance AN: For dice I will be using 2d10 in the form of a 1d100, however, in keeping with wanting to ensure the 'tens' die doesn't basically dictate the entire check, I will roll both dice with a 1d6 using a high-low rule (as they are different colors) to determine the ten's value randomly. This does nothing but ensure that my 'tens die' (previously the red die) isn't the only one that matters ever. You will see the FINAL RESULT of the 1d100 first, in all cases. Bonuses will be added after the fact from here on.

As I have finally worked that out, all +5 Modifiers formerly in the trait lists (former Strong Mods) are becoming Skewed Modifiers (they adjust the 2d10 results by raising the LOWER NUMBER by 1 each Skewed Mod). Because despite simplifying things, I still like atypical, non-flat-boring-ass bonuses.

Communion with Saiga
Friendly Stance : Spouse Opinion
Expect most requests to be positively reciprocated. Expect any demand to be accepted. Expect most trades to be at parity or favorable. Saiga is distracted and strongly wishes to sleep next year, any requests or demands should be short term.

It is with a strange desire that you approach Saiga in the early phases of the year. Your bonded husband is distracted, mulling, and altogether quite rude considering you were right here and looking quite pretty! "Husband, Husband!" you cry, more indigent than sorrowful. "Where is your mind?"

Saiga blinks. "Is it... time to search, yet?"

You may need to let him sleep. He is far dimmer than usual now that he is like this.

[] "I want..."
-[] Actions (Saiga can offer you his skills, either immediately or at a time in the near future)
-[] Resources (Saiga possesses mostly Obsidian and Beastbone)
-[] Teaching (Saiga can teach you skills in exchange for a significant commitment of action points (you may reallocate action point-consuming actions to support this)
-[] Items (Saiga possesses a number of mundane weapons and few divinely empowered ones, a talent you do not know. Saiga possesses a number of figurines, but taking figurines from Saiga disallows causing intentional Population Damage)
-[] A child! (A child will consume a small amount of both parents' legends based on their initial strength, the child can be granted attributes at an ambrosia cost equal to the attribute score's legend cost, the child will be granted a limited assortment of natural skills, and the child can be granted two random traits, or a specific trait, by offering one ambrosia per set of traits)

[] "I want to give..."
-[] Actions (Actions can be offered immediately, but you will give him your current turn actions!)
-[] Resources (You can offer any resources you have not spent this turn)
-[] Teaching (You may teach Saiga skills, and while the process will cost some action points, you will receive legend for trying)
-[] Items (You may grant Saiga anything you have not personally equipped)
-[] A child! (Saiga currently desires a child. This is useful as a bargaining chip for you when presented as something you offer, but it will make Saiga happier if you desire the child yourself rather than appearing not to)

AN: I know I've done something at least partially right when the turn plan no longer engages the scroll element of the site's quickpost tool immediately upon copy-pasting it.

[X] "I want..."
-[X] A child!

Giving a child would be more optimal bargaining wise, but it feels sort of cruddy to yank Saiga's chain when he's this close to sleep.

I'm already breaking this up into miniturns. I don't need no specific miniturn for the actual payout to make the kid. You put the ambrosia you want in on this vote, and any specific traits, too.

It's a short update, but it promises to be a good one
76 + 25 (Discovery 5) + 25 (Half of Saiga/Saitev's Discovery) = 126! (DC ??, ? Successes)
This is one is good stuff, but it's the next one,
100! + 23! (Explosion) + 25 + 25 + 7 (Tactical Astrology) = 180! (You passed. A lot)

Questions, before we get to babies!
@Powerofmind I think it was implied we would explore Eastward, in the first voting stage. Is that still true?

How varied can our animal form be? Can we shapeshift into a frog for example?

Huh if there is a plant spirit out there it definitely looks like we rolled well enough to find it.

So along with our vote we include the amount of ambrosia and traits we want? Are their divine stats also supposed to be included in this or are those random now?

-[] Contribute <5X> unspent Legend for each sire in the litter, <X> Ambrosia for Attributes of the litter, and <X> Ambrosia per two random traits, or <X> Ambrosia per specified trait of the litter

Yes I see that, but looking at the previous post he made after the update it looks like we should be including traits we want in our vote. Only traits were mentioned, so I was curious. Also, that is the divine creature instruction.

Gotcha.
@Powerofmind
Took QUITE some doing finding the relevant ambrosia costs btw.

Had to look up how much ambrosia we had to use:

Ambrosia last turn: 12
Ambrosia spent already: 2
Ambrosia available: 10

[X] "I want..."
-[X] A child!
--[X] Grant the child Aspect of Humanity - 1 Ambrosia
--[X] Grant the child Aspect of the Snowy Owl(Shapeshift) - 1 Ambrosia
--[X] Grant the child Elemental Affinity - Sky - 1 Ambrosia
--[X] Grant the child Spirit of Death - 1 Ambrosia
--[X] Grant the child Shrine 0->1 - 1 Ambrosia
--[X] Grant the child Shrine 1->2 - 2 Ambrosia
--[X] Grant the child Avatar 0->1 - 1 Ambrosia
--[X] Grant the child Avatar 1->2 - 2 Ambrosia
--[X] Grant the child Faith 0->1 - 0 Ambrosia(Humanity discount)
--[X] Lend Saiga the shapeshifting mask for trait control.

Total cost: 10 Ambrosia

This gives the child Shrine 2(Trait slots 4(God)+4(2xShrine) = 5/8 traits) and Avatar 2. I expect Saiga to throw in some random trait buys after buying up the Faith and Influence scores to 2 each.
Owl and Sky means 2 aerial traits, and flight capacity.
Death and Owl means SUPERB ambush ability
Humanity gives of course, Faith and knowing people.

As a Faith spirit, the child would be gaining DP primarily by blessing skills, especially Melee, Omen Reading and Sing.
By design, it'd be a warrior sky god of death from above.

I definitely think that if you are going to vote for a bird as the animal aspect that not adding affinity sky would be a tragic mistake. It would let the god range over quite a bit more terrain and respond rapidly to problems. This is an upside and a downside, but one that I think it would be a waste not to play to. The downside is obviously that it would let the god fly over and start trouble, perhaps bringing about the bloodied man war. It would also be crucial in defending against such a war though, so I don't necessarily see that as a problem.

I do think that the other main direction to go would be wolf aspect, aspect of humanity, and spirit of death. Dog aspect in the original amber age gave melee and animal handling, so it would still be quite deadly. It would also help bring dogs into play for our population. It wouldn't have the ambush abilities, but I would be pretty shocked if it didn't eventually end up with a pack of divine creatures and other children running with it in defense of our population. It would almost certainly be the most loyal kid we could possibly have, and hopefully less likely to start a war than the owl child.

If Saiga didn't have a chance at contributing bears I would definitely be putting forward some sort of polar bear combination, but it would be a bit of a waste for both of us to kick that in.

Pretty sure we can only shapeshift-push one animal aspect at a time, at least, without a higher level of shapeshifter(unfortunately :p). Still Dog/Wolf aspect fits a different role, we're grooming this kid to help Saiga with the Bloody Man, so a Death From Above advantage is...significant. Plus side, it seems archery is not common in our region, so that's another advantage angle

We're leaving it up to Saiga to put in more animal traits(we can't actually put much more in without risking the child coming out formless, remember Blood Moon gives it a free random trait roll).

@mc2rpg Bird aspects already give flight though.
No, Bird aspects grant flight ONLY if you have two traits contributing to it. A Bird Aspect + Sky affinity would work, a Bird aspect on it's own would not, UNLESS it was an Inherent benefit or a higher tier bird aspect.

@veekie what makes you think we can give it faith? We're a Fear Spirit and I don't think we're allowed to use his/her dicounts for them.
Since it costs 0 Ambrosia, it wouldn't hurt to try. Saiga would do it instead of us I guess?
