Time of the Gods: Into the Amber Age

Maybe you could add it with a clause.
Something like - add aspect of humanity, unless Saiga can choose and agrees to choose humanity himself, then raise influence to one.

With the new rules. I rather keep @veekie's plan and ask Saiga to add hunter(want that ranged boost) and dump rest into faith to gain a bigger DP-pool.

PoM straight up said that I was right about the mask giving Saiga the ability to pick traits in this post: https://forums.sufficientvelocity.c...nto-the-amber-age.33698/page-543#post-7869031
That does help significantly, so it's not a doomed endeavor, though as Crabs pointed out Saiga has better stuff to add than human too(really given his predicted ambrosia, he's best off buying one trait, rolling two traits, and then dumping the remaining 2-3 ambrosia into attribute ups).

So long as we ask him to add hunter or bear I am pretty happy. Either one would make surprise death from above more effective, hunter especially if we want him to be shooting at people. Otherwise he has to raise ranged up from scratch, which probably isn't the easiest thing to do.

Frankly I'm still curious why you guys are so dead-set on owl. The bonus it provides only works on enemies of the same divine tier as you.

Flight. It's the easiest trait combination for that, though we can try to shapeshift into Air and push a Classical Air+Sky trait combo for flight instead, I'm not as sure that we can pull it off.

Dead handy if our enemies ascend though.

Also worth keeping in mind that if we help sponsor our child's new temple, they can extend their Influence coverage beyond their apparent starting stats. Temples allows the god to sponsor lesser shrines that don't take up slots but do propagate influence, IIRC.

You do remember how expensive communion is now though don't you? We'd have to drop a not inconsiderate amount of resources just to hold his hand when we should be talking to our other spirits for advice in the fate and ensuring diplomacy between the pantheons.

What is his predicted ambrosia, that isn' really stated anywhere.
Also part of the reason why I want Gaerig to invest in his attributes instead so that 2-3 ambrosia he would be spending could go into him being more choosy of what gets put in.l

Shrine 2 + God Tier, Ambrosia capacity should be 4 until they raise a temple, then it becomes 6.

Way I see it the main difficulty is materials for him, which can be transmuted and stockpiled, since we use the stuff also. We only need to commune once to give him the temple starter kit with ambrosia sponsorship, then teach him Trickery(so he can ambush better) and max out his Melee at leisure. We also probably want to see about commissioning proper gear to gift to him.

This is going to be happening regardless though. Put him in the rotation with the other spirits in the pantheon.
-New Baby - We visit next year to get them set up, maybe teach some skills like Trickery and Melee. Not much else until about 3-4 years later when we can donate a big chunk of transmuted materials for a temple. Saiga is sleeping so no high quality bone sculptures though.
-Keshketev - We visit him about every 3 turns or so, usually the turn we've done mysticism research on a given material and want to make a new toy out of it. We'd order a great big batch of figurines while we're at it.
-Saiga - Going to sleep. Taken out of rotation
-Saitev - Mostly takes care of himself. Worth consulting on a few matters of divination, but we rarely have much of substance to talk to him about. Mostly need to improve relationship a bit.
-Attrouska - Mostly takes care of herself. Worth checking on in the next few years to see how she's getting on with rebuilding, and consulting about the ill omens.

Other pantheons, we currently only have the Fox and Unnamed Plant Spirit as people we can meet without moving us closer to the prophesied dooms.

So something like:
1) Baby - Starting skill training so they can gain legend faster with blessings.
2) Saitev - Talk about future / Unknown Plant Spirit - Try to recruit?
3) Attrouska/Saitev - Talk about future
4) Keshketev - Make magic weapon for baby, make figurines
5) Baby - Drop off magic weapon and figurines, help set up temple.
6) Saiga might have woken up, otherwise, Fox. It's a bit far ahead to say for sure

That's kind of weird though, why wouldn't it be same or lower?

I don't care that much about the bonus though, I like the idea of an owl god. It will probably not work out this way, but I'm hoping for owlgodbaby to become our god of Death. A majestic bird diving down out of nowhere and snatching the dying into the Mother Night's embrace is a nice image for Death.

Honestly even without it being able to get the bonus against lower tiers I still consider it worthwhile. The divine ecosystem we are in is pretty far along on the spirit tier, and now that one pantheon is growing it's God population the others are going to want to as well. Soon enough I am sure there will be other local gods for it to dive bomb aside from its precious mother.

Hokay, 7 votes for a particular variety of kid, which has the plurality, and 5 for the mask, which isn't enough to push it in.

Baby on deh way.

Shosho'an dares!

Despite his dullness, Saiga performs his spousal duty admirably, and thanks to your nature as a Goddess, it is not especially difficult to guess that you are with child now.

"Is it time to search yet?" he asks. You smack his face.

---

When your little trio, the husband, the wife, and the raven, sets out to explore, it quickly becomes evident that even half-asleep, Saiga is very much your better in this area. You begin your search through Shosho'an's corner of Niogg, choosing to get the easier part out of the way first.

At least, that was the plan. You land to scout a village, when the bonfire at the irksome Candle's shrine blazes with great intensity to reveal Shosho'an himself. "See these dangers! See these enemies I have told you of! Defend yourselves, my people, lest we be overtaken from across the ice!"

Apparently forewarned, many villagers, some with hair colored and untamed like fire, come from their homes armed with weapons of all kinds. You had intended to discover the final members of Shosho'an's pantheon by visiting villages with shrines you do not recognize...

[] Shosho'an has broken the deal, if only through a loophole. He still dares not face you himself, so you'll have to punish his people for the folly of obedience before you punish the Flame himself. Dealing with this mortal uprising now should put down any further attempts to hinder you.
[] Shosho'an has broken the deal, but you have bigger issues at the moment. Simply sneak about the remaining villages you'd sought to explore here if his shrines are present.
[] Mount Saitev with your husband (much as the bird may complain) and simply explore the Usko's lands by air. You cannot be bothered with this.

[] Mount Saitev
... What? Surely nothing more than this needs to be said. Mounting a giant Divine Flying Dinosaur is always the correct option when given the chance.

Fine, I'll do the vote properly.
[X] Mount Saitev with your husband (much as the bird may complain) and simply explore the Usko's lands by air. You cannot be bothered with this.

Well the upside is we got polar bear, and I was rooting for that to make ambushes even worse. Sea will also hopefully make him get along better with mommy. The downside is he walked out of that with a lot of influence based traits and no influence. I suspect our child is going to be quite busy getting his set in order for awhile.

Edit: vote changed

So I am going with this to avoid any hint of breaking our own oath. If we find a plant spirit I want to be able to tell it that the fire spirit is an oath breaker and untrustworthy. It should put its faith in Mother night instead.

Death to the candle I say

Also, our baby has Inherent Spirit of Death.

So yeah, we pretty much made a flying owlman who swoops down, kills people and presumeably drags them off to hell.

Death to the candle I say
Nonono. As a Trickster Spirit, the very last thing we want to do is punish someone for finding a loophole in a contract. Fact is, Shosho'an did not break our deal and if we attack him then we'll be the bad guys. And I do not want his Pantheon to feel justified in fighting us.

He did basically break the deal. Him and his can't mess with you and yours was the gist of it, but thanks to divine interaction rules, the only one physically incapable of breaking the deal is Shosho'an himself.

And so:

[X] Shosho'an has broken the deal, if only through a loophole. He still dares not face you himself, so you'll have to punish his people for the folly of obedience before you punish the Flame himself. Dealing with this mortal uprising now should put down any further attempts to hinder you.

He broke the deal and made his people attack us, running away would just make us look weak...
