[X] Shosho'an has broken the deal, but you have bigger issues at the moment. Simply sneak about the remaining villages you'd sought to explore here if his shrines are present.

Or the bringer of Sudden Unexpected Death.
The way you keep bringing that up suddenly reminded me of that one story from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Burning Feet, where a spirit would grab people and force them to go faster and faster, leaving increasingly longer tracks before carrying them away into the sky.

Thank goodness he's a faith god though right? #^w^#

Wait, we DO have confirmation for gods.
Spirit of Death is a tiered trait and we installed the full thing in one go.
So that means Gods will grant full traits per ambrosia up to T3 Spirit/T1 God, Spirits will grant T1 Spirit traits per ambrosia.

In my head its not 100% confirmed: Saiga did RANDOM traits, so they are random, we do not know how it works if he gives a T3 spirit or aspect using shape-changing shenanigans.

Something cool I came across:
Article:
Our more special attention has been given to the mutual action of copper and nitrate of silver. If these two substances be brought into contact by the intervention of water, there grows on the red metal what may be called "trees," and, though the analogy between the crystals and the plants is a very superficial one, still the resemblances of external form are sufficiently striking, and a nomenclature drawn from the garden seems the most expressive.

A microscopic view of the growth of these silver crystals round a piece of copper is a truly beautiful sight; a blue glass underneath increases the effect, but they are best seen when they reflect a strong light thrown upon them.

Copper and Silver makes for silver trees, with enhanced visual effect with blue backing and bright light.

Article:
The crystals of silver thus produced differ both in color and form according to the strength of the solution. If it be very weak—say one per cent.—the copper is fringed with black bushes of the metal, which in growing change color to white without any alteration of crystalline form that can be detected by a powerful microscope.

Fuzzy bushes of black silver that grows to white on a dilute solution.

Article:
A stronger solution gives white crystals from the commencement, which frequently assume the appearance of fern-leaves; while the growth from a still stronger liquid reminds us rather of a furze-bush.

Intermediate strength solution gives us what we have now, feather-leaf-like crystals. Stronger makes it look like coral to my eye(pics in the article, uploading is hard on mobile x.x).

Then to rounder leaf patterns and then what looks like a crustacean.

And that's just Silver + Copper.

Other fun stuff:
Article:
If a piece of zinc be placed in a solution of neutral terchloride of If a piece of zinc be placed in a solution of neutral terchloride of gold, containing about nine per cent, of salt, there is an immediate out-growth of black gold, which speedily changes to an advancing mass of yellow or perhaps lilac metal of lichen-like forms, from which proceed beautiful fringes of yellow or black, ending generally in such arborescent forms as are represented in Fig. 6.

As these branches push into the yellow liquid, it becomes colorless even in advance of their points, and it frequently happens that yellow crystals of some salt shoot out in front of the crystallizing metal, which follows them and builds up its advancing fronds at their expense. This is shown in the figure. The gold will generally shoot its yellow branches rapidly round the margin of the drop. Such a running branch has been seen to stop on coming in contact with a loose piece of gold, which immediately in its turn becomes active, and commences to sprout on its farther side.

Copper salts give round nodules, which have no crystal-line appearance when deposited from moderately weak solutions, but a very strong solution of the chloride—about forty per cent.—yields with zinc, first a thick, black growth, then arborescent fringes of red metal, terminating in crystals of very appreciable size.

Gold solution gets really fancy

Article:
Tin gives beautiful results. If zinc be placed in a solution of stannous chloride it is quickly surrounded with a growth of prolonged octohedra, and as these advance into the liquid it is easy to observe that the additions of new metal commence at the apex, and that the wave of chemical change proceeds down the lateral edge, occupying some seconds of time in depositing the new layer of material.

Frequently, also, there is a luxuriant growth of large, flat leaflets, or symmetrical structures resembling fern-leaves, but with the fronds arranged at right angles, or combinations of these with octohedra, as shown in Fig. 8, These fern-leaves often begin of a dull-gray color, but, as they advance, suddenly change to a brilliant white.

The particular form of these crystalline growths depends, therefore, primarily on the specific character of the metal, but this is greatly modified by the strength of the solution.

And Tin makes for interesting right angled patterns

Source

Theres more, but since chemistry is FAR away in the future, where we're concerned, we mix a bunch of metal in water and sometimes it makes fabulous shapes.

For now it's just Innovation.

You motion for Saiga to follow after you, and before either of your companions can prepare to fight, you resize yourself a bit to comfortably fit on Saitev's back area, pulling Saiga on with you. The implication is clear, but before you escape fully, you offer another few verses to belittle Shosho'an with.

"Like the moth do men seek the light; entranced by lies so sweet. Know though, that betrayed is the night; assured of peace when these two meet!"

You see Shosho'an begin to dance and gesture, but doubt has been seeded among his mortals. You make a rather mean gesture yourself, before urging Saitev to fly away. You do not leave the raven's back for much of the remainder of the trip, stopping to rest in empty thickets between the many little settlements you spy from above, the shrines of two unknowns described by Saiga's sharp sight.

You would like to visit these other spirits, but both Saitev and yourself see bad omens in doing so; not only are they not what you're looking for, but Shosho'an has likely already poisoned your chance to interact with them. Despicable little spark.

---

Your search fruitless so far, you move to the Kaketor, seeking a spirit to embody plantlife and herbs. Just as unsuccessful, but significantly less troublesome, you often leave Saitev to the woods and the hills while you and Saiga sneak about and scout the villages of your western neighbors. You see a number of the Bloodied Man's shrines, suggesting his power is very grand; but his aren't the only shrines you discover.

One of the villages you come across is so massive as to demand your shapeshifting tricks to scout it properly, and as you wander around the huge village, you come across a shrine that resonates with a small part of you. You observe for a time, seeing many women and men bringing offerings of meat, often in mated pairs. A ceremony of bonding is performed there, and after some time has passed, you finally see a stern, curvy divine, who does not smile, even as she gently rubs the bump of a babe on her stomach.

Not yet finished with this village, you explore further, blindly following a very strong resonance. The far end of the village, across from where you'd landed with Saitev, houses the shrine you seek. Sharing the grounds of the building is a small monolith of blackened bone, and a pit, filled with stinking bodies and ash, stands beside it. In the entrance stands the statuesque form of the spirit, garbed in the clothes of the dead and gone. You feel, beyond the more obvious ties to death, a tie to the moon and stars and sky. You flit away as the spirit jolts to awareness, seeking you through the deep similarities you have.

---

You pout and stew as Saitev and Saiga fly with you back to your lands, before abandoning your partners to their duties and going out one final time, floating over the seas to the mainland, to Goegg. The trip is faster than you recall, even though you are far removed from your domain even before your feet touch the earth at the other side. Nearly as you touch the ground, the earth rises to meet you in the form of a man of epic proportions; if Saitev were huge, then this being could pluck him from the sky with but a single hand. Standing nearly four times your own height, with a head and beard covered in strange plants and vines (even a sapling or two!), there is something in this divine's presence that makes you elect to act with some respect.

"Hello, strange thing," he intones with measured slowness, leaning and kneeling to view you as evenly as he can. "I did not know one of my kind was among the northmen. I am Heske, of Man and of Earth. How are you called?"

There is no tension strumming between you, and the need to posture is absent in Heske's friendly presence. You were never one to prefer posturing anyway. "I am Gaerig, of the Night and the Sea," you tell him. "I am looking for a particular spirit, lesser than you or I, and the stars have shown me here."

Your words seem to upset the earthen giant, who reels his head up and snorts. "That troublesome one, hmm?" he questions. "May you also hold displeasure for him, so that he may be punished twice."

A need comes over you, one of gossip and vicarious pleasure. "Oh? Tell me more~"

---

You are shown to the nearest village of The Widower, who mothered the spirit you seek by stealing the essence of Heske while he slept. To punish the mother and remove the child, who upsets him, the bastard child has been denied many amenities of Heske's favor in the Setten Pantheon. Imprisoned in the shrine of his mother, the spirit is oft-banished by Heske's war spirit to enhance the pained wails of The Widow, who feeds the spirit on her own strength to keep him alive.

[] This situation brings you physical pain unending; you must have the spirit child! You will not accept 'no' for an answer!

Neighbors:
Usko:
-Villages: 11(Fox village, Fire village + 9 new)
-Spirits: 4
--Fox - Aspect of the Fox, Spirit of Mischief
--Shoshoan - Light affinity, Fire affinity, Light avatar, Fire avatar, Sun affinity
--2 more. No fliers. No plant spirits. Bad omens of the unknown spirits if encountered.
-Gods: 0(Shoshoan near threshold)
-Notable resources: Children of Fire bloodline.

If we're talking to them at all we might want to make sure we do it through the Fox.

Kaketor:
-Villages: 8(Bloody village + 7 new). One town.
-Spirits: 3
--Bloody Man - Spirit of Virility, Spirit of Strength, Spirit of Murder, Blood Affinity - prophesied to kill Saiga
--Ancestor Moon - Moon Affinity, Sky affinity, Stars Affinity, Death Affinity, Spirit of the Stars - prophesied to kill Seski .
--Stern Mother - Spirit of Motherhood and marriage. Probably Spirit of Fertility. Is pregnant
-Gods: 0(Bloody Man of significant Influence due to large shrine count, Bloody Man of significant Avatar)
-Notable resources: Obsidian, Ochre, Swole Man bloodline, prophsied monster source(Bloody Man having a child with Stern Mother?)

Conflict is, I think, inevitable(and our Dread Visions back it up). Stern Mother will conflict with Attrouska if either of them ascends. Ancestor Moon will conflict with us because her build is basically ready for a Nox Arcana ascension.

Avoid meeting them probably

Goegg(Mainland):
-Villages: 4(probable that there are more further away)
-Spirits: 3
--The Widower - Spirit of Motherhood - Possible former pantheon head if she could force Heske to impregnate her while he was sleeping as a spirit. Drained of Legend to keep her child alive.
--The Warmaker - Spirit of War - Disperses The Bastard for fun apparently. Not a nice fellow.
--The Bastard - Spirit of Plants - Imprisoned. Probably would find some common ground with Keshketev
-Gods: 1
--Heske, God of Earth and Humanity. Giant Avatar. Spirit of Plants. Spirit of Forests. Extremely high Avatar rating(significantly higher than Saitev's 6). Friendly. Doesn't start with Dominance contest from the start.

Overall they're too far to make war practically, especially with no sky or water spirits, so we could theoretically afford to tick them off if we wanted. If you know, you want to piss off a Plant type god with our level of Avatar AND Giant Avatar.
However, Heske doesn't want him around, doesn't want to go to the tainted effort of a kinslaying. The Widower wants him alive, but I suspect she'd offer him up in a hurry if it gets the kid out of the death spiral.

Finally, if we screw Heske here we probably could just add plant traits to our forming child, but that's kind of skeevy.

--Bloody Man - Spirit of Virility, Spirit of Strength, Spirit of Murder, Blood Affinity - prophesied to kill Saiga
Wait, Where are you getting confirmation for these??
And this? Where does it say she has Sky?
Ancestor Moon will conflict with us because her build is basically ready for a Nox Arcana ascension.
Oh it's worse than that. Remember that death affinity she has? Well we're just about give birth to an innate Death God.

She's going to be so salty when she finds out the ascensions she wants are already taken.

I'm so tempted to Blacken her shrines just to rub it in her face...
Heske, God of Earth and Humanity.
No, I think it's more than that, he made Gaerig treat him with Respect. This is a Regional God.
If you know, you want to piss off a Plant type god with our level of Avatar AND Giant Avatar.
He had to kneel and slouch to see us at eye level. I think he's the next tier Giant Avatar.

But yeah, not doing anything is going to get us in heaps of trouble. We need to help our pantheon get better.

Luckily, as a Fear God, that is our forte;).

However I'm going to have to push a sneakier way of doing. If you're right, it's going to take way too long to match up to their strengths. Instead, we need to be strong where they are weak, Social the Bloody Man or Strike him from afar with Magic. Send Saitev on an air strike to the Ancestor Moon and rip her Avatar apart. For Shosho'an we are already working on more water traits, but I think we found a thread we can follow. Preach Sedition. Make them doubt him, and spread that to the other spirits.

I don't even know why we're looking for this one spirit in particular, but it can't hurt to ask politely, I guess.
The original goal when I pushed for finding a plant spirit specifically was to either poach it or have a child with it. That way we could bring someone dedicated to plants and the earth back home, and get agriculture going. The crone is pretty weak at the moment, and farming wasn't a big thing for her, so looking outside for someone that would really start it up and allow for stable food supplies seemed like the best way to go.

[X] Request Heske give the spirit into your command. You will take him far from the God of the Earth's domain.

Wait, Where are you getting confirmation for these??
Previous encounter and the prophecy, he's noted to be abnormally strong, blood and obsidian features heavily in his imagery, and his bloodline has mortals with the physique of warrior spirits.

Clear case of Spirit of Strength at the least.
And this? Where does it say she has Sky?
Read the update please
In the entrance stands the statuesque form of the spirit, garbed in the clothes of the dead and gone. You feel, beyond the more obvious ties to death, a tie to the moon and stars and sky.
We got her pokedex entry off affinity resonance. Death, Moon, Stars, Sky.
Oh it's worse than that. Remember that death affinity she has? Well we're just about give birth to an innate Death God.

She's going to be so salty when she finds out the ascensions she wants are already taken.

I'm so tempted to Blacken her shrines just to rub it in her face...
I believe that may be a contributing factor to the war that's to come. Their ENTIRE pantheon that we know of has innate reasons for domain conflict with our pantheon, and we know at least the Bloody Man has significant Avatar and Influence scores, so we can't roll him like we did Attrouska.

They even have a full town in their territory, which means significantly better powerbase.

No, I think it's more than that, he made Gaerig treat him with Respect. This is a Regional God.

He had to kneel and slouch to see us at eye level. I think he's the next tier Giant Avatar.
Naw, we didn't feel the power gap that would indicate a Regional God(and Giant Avatar is a spirit tier trait).

That said he probably has the local god tier Giant Avatar.
Gaerig at Avatar 10+1(Tier) is as big as Saitev at Giant Avatar 6. Giant Avatar 10 would put him halfway to the stated height....but Titanic Avatar 8 should be big enough.

Bloody Man
- I feel engaging him prematurely would not be wise, and we don't know enough magic to pull it off on him. Elemental attacks won't work well, we've identified that his Influence is very impressive as he has a very large number of shrines.
- He honestly sounds like a job for Attrouska to figure out, but she's still digging herself out of the crater we smashed her into.

Ancestor Moon
- She's described to be very good at stealth, armed with a magic silver scythe in the vision, a spirit of death and Saitev is, unfortunately, not that great a warrior spirit. He's big, that's pretty much the end of his combat prowess.
- She sounds like a job for Gaerig to take on in person. Gaerig can duel her in her own domain, contest all her influence.

Stern Mother
- Probably the source of the monster hordes in the vision, but she does not sound like she has very high Influence or Avatar, but DOES have very high Shrine(notice the elaborate ritual behavior for marriages) and Focus Attribute. Her position is well defended in a large town, so going godzilla on her isn't an option.
- She sounds like a good option for our baby to take out after some powerups. Death to counter Life, using extreme speed to get in there and disperse her before she can act.

Shoshoan
- It does seem that we have a working formula for that conflict, but we have difficulty meeting those spirits, and using the Fox as intermediary is...tricky, considering the little bugger set this up(which is of course in his nature) knowing that fire and light will hate water and night.
- Also, we cannot repeat the flyaway singing strategy, or there'd be a trap waiting for us next time. He's cunning enough to bypass the terms of our first confrontation by flinging hostile mortals at us the second time, while blocking off the approach of the first confrontation by poisoning the well when speaking to their other spirits.
- We COULD in theory, call him out for the offense next time but the prophecy makes it tricky, if I'm reading it right, it says we'd be isolated from our pantheon, while his pantheon wants to help us but can't.
- Mortal guise is possible, but also risky in a different way.

I wonder if we could flip the tables if we fed the Fox some more legend so he could try to take over...

The Stern Mother would also probably conflict with Gaerig on account of reminding her of Attrouska.

Gaerig is a mother as well, after all, and she can hardly be called "stern".
