Time of the Gods: Into the Amber Age

So I am hoping we acquire spirit of sea so I can get my aquatic worshippers. I will support any plan that works towards aquatic worahippers. also give it thought and I want monster.sharks to serve as our aquatic people mounts. shark cav!!!

Gaerig just wants to help, unfortunately she plans on emancipate you from this mortal coil.

...and your pants from your waist. And your wastes from your innards.

We can already get our Aquatic Worshippers.

Just birth children with two Water traits(which we have) to start with. It just costs us 18 Sustenance every turn until it's selfsustaining.

-Hunters - Ironically, Saiga's best hunters are going to be the worst poisoned over time. The poorer ones feeding from smaller fishes are going to accumulate small amounts of silver and likely eat a lot more vegetables. The ones bringing back a big catch? Yeah, they got lots of cumulative silver.
Or we could create something like the Queen's Swans where only our Silvermen can hunt our octopus and also must take care of them. Can't be poisoned if you already have Silver in your blood;)

That's not how poisoning works- you can get water poisoning if you drink too much. It's about excesses, not magical totemic vulnerabilities.

I bet not. Look at the roll table for the previous turn - a total of 10% of the roll table would fill up a trait slot. Admittedly, that range might widen as we pick up moon colors, but I honestly doubt that we will have grabbed three non-moon traits out of six rolls.

Is there some reason that shrine builds were a priority? :???:
Adding more shrines increases our influence range, decreases the distance penalty to places outside it even then, and most importantly adding more people to our influence range improves our pop mod situation--i dont know if it would directly improve it when we add new people, but PoM has said that having more people in our influence range makes it easier to raise pop mod and harder to lower it...both pretty important with us sitting at -10 and being a fear god in general. Also, we have two that cost literally 0.5 sustenance each, and Saiga's other village, at least, should be a no brainer to expand to. Also, i want us to get a shrine in saitev's village so its easier to talk to him, but that will cost ambrosia and require his assent, so... less of a concern
Want a good site, unless we intend to just demolish it. If we beat Attrouska I want to plonk one down on her village(and make her pay for it), otherwise I want to explore for a confluence to place a new one.
...Seriously? @Powerofmind has said more than once that confluences are incredibly rare--and not "oh you'll find half a dozen eventually" rare, more "you'll need a crit to find one and it'll probably be hard to get to or already taken" rare from my undersanding. We're not just going to stumble on one, especially since it would basically have to be in the sea, since if its on the island odds are that even just our fellow pantheon members would have found it (mystic/magic crone, giant flying raven with omen reading, and super explorer saiga who likely mapped out most of hte island before getting stuck staying home). We have 3 open shrine slots still, and 2 possible shrines cost literally 0.5 sustenance each. there is almost literally no reason to not do so as soon as possible. Even if we did somehow luck into too many confluences to use them all, we could just "leave shrine to ruin" a less important shrine.

I would like to talk to the fox since his village is just inside our influence and setup a shrine their if we can, then hopefully have that expand our reach to Saitev for another shrine.

With a careful eye on the damage you've caused, you demand the people appease you with sacrifices instead, foreseeing trouble if you aren't careful. Unfortunately, people seem to take your demand for appeasement as a chance to take a break. After reminding them who's in charge, things run smoothly, at least, though you wince at the prickling sense of pushing your people even further into suffering, enough that a few even leave, headed for greener pastures. Before an especially pretty young man escapes, you lure him away into the trees, where you take him happily.

Turning your mind to something more pleasant, you try to play games with your daughter, gifting her more precious stones to work. "Mommy, I want to stop," she says petulantly when you try to help draw in victims for her pranks. "I'm tired of tricking, I want to do something else..."

You feel surprised, a little... hurt, even. "Alright," you say softly. "I'll let you be..."

Instead, you go to Saiga, asking for another story. "My Gaerig, I have no stories left, only paths and pathmarks," he says. "Please, leave me to my hunts. The people need to eat, and I must feed them..."

You furrow your brow in confusion. Don't the people eat well enough already? There are plenty of fish in the sea, and your sense of their number is as notable as the lack of boats...

Finally, you go to Saitev, who caws in your face. "You know as much of me as I'd care for you to know, little goddess!" he crows, shaking his head and rattling the bones upon his beak. "Though I can tell you that Attrouska has discovered a strange thing, quite strange indeed! Little squiggles and lines, rife with meaning, yes? From my place in the sky I hear their name, the runes."

Turned away by those you like, you settle with your silver dust and experiment with it. It vanishes quickly in water, and quite a lot can be absorbed before it settles on the bottom. When you boil away the water to try to get the dust back, however, the silver crystallizes! Beautiful fractals form within the bowl you'd used, and you secret it away for yourself, doling out a number of figurines and blessings for your shrine in Saiga's village, though they are... insufficient.

Your problems, all of them, stem from The Crone, from Attrouska! She is the reason your Saiga cannot give you new stories, the reason Saitev thinks he can deny you what you want! She probably poisoned the opinions of your people when she arrived two years ago, and it's why they're leaving! You will break her, then, like she broke your husband, like she broke The Imprisoned spirit.

It starts small. Unseasonably high snowfall and eerily bright nights within the Crone's home village. The moon turns a cold blue, suddenly, and your efforts are enhanced powerfully, blizzards and snow and frozen rain falling upon her village even into the warm months.

And then you bathe the night sky in blackness. Shrieks and wails echo from the village as you slip inside under the cover of a truly dark night. With mortal guise afforded by the mask, you go ever closer to where you feel your enemy resides. She stands near a hastily raised fire, her strange, stoic children feeding wood into the blaze.

Major II Success, Children of the Rune slain to a man!

Catch her!
Survival rolled 11 vs 11
Moderate Success; Nearly caught up...

In a flash, she stamps her foot and cries out, "I see through your guise; Foul Deceiver, seeking my demise!"

She wails and points towards you, and the strange children draw ceremonial weapons, hammers and chiseling stones. They surround you, and you repulse them with dismissive sweeps and kicks, sending a withering look at the aged spirit, who does two sudden stamps of her feet. "I will rule in this place; I fear not your true face!"

Cackling as she runs at surprising speed for her apparent age, the children surround you once more. Furious at the Crone's escape, you brutalize the simpering things, squeezing them and hitting them over and over until they break, until finally the ones who stood against you died, letting you give chase once more.

But the Crone is already too far. She has retreated into her shrine, and every second you take will increase the chance she is prepared for your intrusion. The stars you've veiled are ephemeral, confused. Should you leave you will risk terrible retribution, yet the entrails of Attrouska's slain children warn of a great danger if you do not put the Crone down swiftly should you follow after her...

[] Catch her, make her submit!
[] Destroy everything. Ruin as much of the Crone's village as possible, force her out of hiding!
[] You will retreat... for now.

[X] Catch her, make her submit!

I feel like destroying her village would be the safe option, but this is the one that appeals to me.

Is...is that a VE Subtotal? and most or all rolls marked with successes? <3

I'm not too fond of our options here...

Future/Bone Reading
Astrology rolled 16
Major I Success; Gained 1 ambrosia
Quick thing while looking through: I think this should be a higher success
We get +1 strong from painted stars, +5 weak from EA - Stars, +20 Weak from 10 Astrology, and +10 from two minor success moonlights, right?
This makes it 16 -> 17 : 94 + 20 (crit) + 35 = 149, which is a Major III success, right? Major I is 100-119, right?

That it is. Forgot to add in the moon and stars buffs.

Another -1 pop mod? Gah.

Eat VE, eat glut.

We saw how we got buffed when Saiga spoke to us in our domain.

We crush her faith-base, starve her for DE and force her to start cannibalizing Legend. We kill everything around her, then wait for her in the ashes.

To make a weird go off it's 'high or rare'. To confirm a successful weird it's 'very high, very low, rare'.
Sorry; I may have been unclear.

To have a weird turn in the first place, we need a successful moonlight followed by a successful weird roll with DC 80. Is that not the case?

For example:

Moonlight
Influence rolled 9
Minor Success
Fear rolled 4
Gained 3 Legend
Weirding rolled 11
No weird

A Weirding
Rolled 15
Strangeness may occur under this moon
We needed the 15 there for Weirdness to happen at all.

So, where was the analogue of that this turn?

I don't think she has a good trap in place, she didn't seem to think we would seek her out like this.

Also new kid has some nice things, bit of a lunatic though.

It's not a 'DC' check, it's flat high/doubles rolls.

Further support for my choice:

Update: "The stars you've veiled are ephemeral, confused. Should you leave you will risk terrible retribution, yet the entrails of Attrouska's slain children warn of a great danger if you do not put the Crone down swiftly should you follow after her..."

This is both a Third Option and it's one that will win in the long run, if we somehow don't put her down now.

If we leave, there's an issue.
If we follow, but don't end it quickly, there's an issue.

So we stay, but don't follow, and just camp out, destroying everything she loves until she shows up.
