Time of the Gods: Into the Amber Age

Well, The Night has Come for You has completely blown out the vote, 25 to the second place of 9. I figure I can lock a bit early and get the update out.

The shark man legions will rise

I see your sharks and raise you with more squids

I've lost track of the plans hours ago.. ><

Did one plan have: lure woodcutters in it?

cause you need to lure em really early to get any effect from that this turn... you don't cut down trees and you get instant firewood... it takes several weeks of drying, months even if the weather is bad. During winter the trees are frozen making cutting em down way harder.

People living in the arctic can only survive if they plan ahead, sometimes years ahead. so most of em got enough fire wood for the coming turn already.

And I don't think there are many, if any at all, dedicated woodcutters, more like everyone chips in during down time in hunting, gathering and farming.

I guess i'll be doing two annotations tomorrow then; i was going to annotate last update when i got home, but hey look the powers out and wont be up until at least 10 D=

On the matter of tentacles... our local octopi have these membranes between them right?
Why don't we just try to increase the size of those for our next species and teach them to glide with them by throwing them through the air? It shouldn't take too long to reach flight from there on and breeding bat-topus by tossing them around is a perfectly Gearig way to get flying monsters.

That would be amusing, but it wouldn't work. Flight requires combined T2 air affinities or bird aspects. Throwing them around just kills them
That's true, no matter what happens, next turn will be rebuilding. Just don't forget: Don't fuck the octopus.
If we have the sustenance for it, why not?
Of course, the population is too battered to endure an Ur-Beast, but breeding new traits into the Sea Pixies, or just expanding them via 1 sustenance infusions shouldn't be a problem....aside from the issues of adding more silver to the ecosystem anyways.

We just need to find the right Moon settings and one of those absurd sets of rolls that Amber Age quests attract. There is a Moon of Beasts after all.

I say we just continue with the sea fairies. Have entire sea fairy courts. Summer and Winter sea fairies. Winter and Winterer, and then the Winterer Court lives even further [That direction where it gets colder].

Cold = Autumn
Darkness = winter
Stars = Spring
Sky = Summer

Cold for autumn court because changing of the seasons and colder leading to the long night of winter. The stars foreshadow the coming spring of and the sky itself represents summer in full.

Wanted to base it on things we already have and are likely pick up(so no heat/light/life traits)

The thing is that they are tiny right now, a measly 4 inches tall. We need to make them bigger somehow...

What's wrong with adding Silver? It makes them even more "poisonous" as it were and reduces depredation.

I like it, but it seems to be missing something from Sea/Water traits. Maybe Darkness/ Calm Seas/ Reflection for winter? or something in the sense that Winter is magical quiet and dark. Summer is the short Night, but with chances of Eclipse and Sirens.

Hoo boy. These rolls are fascinating. You're in for a nail-biter vote, and yet another glut, though fortunately not from your own population for once.

At the current rate we're acquiring Sun from going too Moon :V
Elemental Manifestation (Tier 3) - Sun (The Moon in the Sun! The Moon in the Sun!!): 8 (10) Legend
Greatness! We've Mooned so hard it looped around to sun!
Ha! Said it first :p

Not funny but fascinating...

Blacken succeeded but everything else failed!!:o

At least we get glut out of it and explosions!!:D

...Wait.

@veekie your plan didn't include a single extra shrine build? whyy????? (Yes, this is literally the first time i've looked at the plans more than skimming)

Silver is a slow poison, not the sort relevant to reducing predation in the short term(for that, you want them to have fast, immediate poisoning), but it bascially means anything that eats them will accumulate heavy metal poisoning, scaling up the higher up the food chain.

Since these guys are TINY, that means:
-Small Fish - Lightly poisoned. One fish isn't eating that many octopi in their lifetime, but they got low mass, so they're going to be affected a bit.
-Large Fish - Lightly poisoned. They won't feed on the octopi directly often, but they eat a lot of smaller fishes, which all have silver.
-Apex predators(bears, orcas) - Moderately poisoned. They gather all the silver over the food chain and accumulate it inside their body, though extreme mass means they proportionately are less affected.
-Hunters - Ironically, Saiga's best hunters are going to be the worst poisoned over time. The poorer ones feeding from smaller fishes are going to accumulate small amounts of silver and likely eat a lot more vegetables. The ones bringing back a big catch? Yeah, they got lots of cumulative silver.

You know mercury poisoning? Pretty much the same.

The thing is that they are tiny right now, a measly 4 inches tall. We need to make them bigger somehow...
Makes them cute though.

Making them bigger means Traits with +Avatar. Or larger animals.
We could probably use Human aspect to make them into short human-like animals with a perchant for trolling people.

Well, looks like we aren't going to be short on DE I guess?

oh hey another glut, we formless now I bet.
I bet not. Look at the roll table for the previous turn - a total of 10% of the roll table would fill up a trait slot. Admittedly, that range might widen as we pick up moon colors, but I honestly doubt that we will have grabbed three non-moon traits out of six rolls.

...Wait.

Is there some reason that shrine builds were a priority? :???:
