Time of the Gods: Into the Amber Age

[X] Push it back out. The last person who entered your shoals so deeply died. You hadn't meant to do that, you should stop this one before they also die!

[X] Kill it. The last person who entered your shoals died, and you will help this one along. Maybe you'll garner more energy from this one's death as well?

[X] Let it closer. Your waters have free floating ice, and are terribly cold during the Long Night. Even the natural life here is scarce. What drives this person so?

You ever played with ants as a kid?

I really want to know what drives this human.

The little people are interesting, I want one.

Maybe we can get a priest or prophet or something like that

[] Push it back out. The last person who entered your shoals so deeply died. You hadn't meant to do that, you should stop this one before they also die!
Starts the Benevolent Protector route.

[] Kill it. The last person who entered your shoals died, and you will help this one along. Maybe you'll garner more energy from this one's death as well?
Starts the Unfathomable Terror route.

[] Let it closer. Your waters have free floating ice, and are terribly cold during the Long Night. Even the natural life here is scarce. What drives this person so?
Starts the Detached Observer route?

I'll vote for the last one, as the option I find most curious.

I'd definitely support Let It Come Closer over Kill It, but honestly, we've sorta achieved our objective? We murdered someone's loved one for no particular reason, and now they're mad with grief.

We don't need to rub salt in the wounds, we've proved our point.

What is interesting is our lack of understanding so if we go faith we can attribute this to our stretching. letting them continue what do you think that will do as this event apparently had long term effects

Curiouser and curiouser seems to be the right description.

Obviously letting them be joined in death is the best solution and the first step on unlocking Spirit of Love.

And it wasn't our fault! Those fishes eat us all the time and we're never harmed by it, so how were we supposed to know it was dangerous?

EDIT: I am an inattentive idiot.

I wish we could show it something through our astrology trait, with the stars reflected in our waters. Could be the path to Mystery Spirit or similar. I'm not sure this is what's happening, though...

The worst thing, I think, would be if we did nothing and it died without our intervention. We are taking a risk here, i think, of completely wasting this opportunity...

If we let the person kill itself we would take a bath with voluntary human sacrifice which would be interesting and it would mean that we care about sacrifice as we react to it.

Ah, but he/she is in a better place now. Because there is no better place than the ocean. Also she/he might join him/her pretty soon, so we give a chance to people to get together with their loved ones.

Oh hey, a new Amber Age quest! @Powerofmind, may I express my thanks for starting this quest? I really missed the original.

So, a preliminary analysis of the current options:

The question of Faith or Fear is moot, I think, since this event was triggered by killing someone. A Fear act, if there ever was one, and the first stepping on that path. The options here are to establish a sort of reason why that person was killed, and the temperament of our character in relation to our Holy Place.

[] Push it back out. The last person who entered your shoals so deeply died. You hadn't meant to do that, you should stop this one before they also die!
To the humans, this is should result in people avoiding the shoals because humans aren't allowed there. But, this option is a defensive measure; people will not necessarily die if they trespass. The outlook of the people in regards to the spirit's temperament would be mischievous and fickle -- the fear would come, in part, from not knowing what they did that would get them killed. Could result in opening a path toward general benevolence towards humans, but that'll require overcoming the hurdle of us being known as someone who'll kill someone but spare another.

[] Kill it. The last person who entered your shoals died, and you will help this one along. Maybe you'll garner more energy from this one's death as well?
To the humans, this deepens the idea that the shoals are not a place where humans are allowed to go, because the spirit of the place will fucking kill them. In terms of perceived temperament, the spirit would be murderous, or at least very willing to kill to maintain the separation of its sacred places. (This would, also, going by Powerofmind's previous posts, leave defenses of our shrine up to nature, to a greater extant than the above option.) Better Fear progression, probably: the killing should count toward opening up the Death traits.

[X] Let it closer. Your waters have free floating ice, and are terribly cold during the Long Night. Even the natural life here is scarce. What drives this person so?
Definitely makes the spirit weirder and more mysterious (opening up the Mystery Spirit traits?), since we killed one person for being in our Holy Place but then let another swim to our sacred place's heart? However, with the extreme displays of emotion from this person, depending on how the humans interpret it, this might count towards progress to our Faith score. From, you know, noticing who the spirit attacks and who the spirit doesn't attack, and thus altering behavior and culture to be more like who the spirit doesn't attack. This is the more ambiguous option, though, since the outcome depends on the desire of this person and we're too new to figure that out yet. That's why I vote for this: we need more information on our worshipers, to better help/hurt them.

Potential inspired sounds fun.
