Also he may have knowledge of other people we can target and is a second explorer
If I'm too specific or mechanical when it comes to negotiation encounters, it takes away some of the ambiguity that makes it an interesting encounter. You don't go to a negotiating table with someone knowing exactly how far you can push, and for major things like this a wrong deal can be insulting rather than prompting haggling. If you're close, deals will get haggled down to an acceptable degree. If you're too giving, you lose out. If you're too demanding, you upset them.Would our minor successes be enough to make "accept first deal, we put a shrine in his village and he tells us about the crone" reasonable enough for 2 years of no attacks to seem fair then? I'm really not sure how much successes are worth here... Also, you mentioned something about marriage involving sharing our abilities? Does that mean "tell each other what we can do", "help each other out with abilities", "discounts on each other's abilities", or something else?
Vehemence only comes about from especially powerful emotion. Simply looming over people with the threat of 'I will get you, someday, somewhere,' only has power for a short time when some people may snap from the paranoia, before the threat seems less serious or dangerous, and it slips out of immediate focus. Basically, you might get some Vehemence the turn you claim 'you shall arrive soooon' *spooky hands*, but like the boy who cried wolf, the reaction is less urgent every time you make the claim.
Your negotiation comes all at once. If you want knowledge on the Crone, but don't like how it sounds should you marry Saiga, the best you can do is renege on that part of the deal. Can we ask about the Crone/his current situation/allies/enemies before agreeing to help marriage request, with another sunburn to finalize the deal knowing what were getting into?
In that case, if anyone makes a plan that accepts the first but not second demand, and asks for information and a shrine, I'll vote for it (on phone atm). Oh, also PoM this is unrelated to this turn but do you think you can include stuff like Spirit of the Sea enhancing our abilities in the description? Like "improves water/sea based elemental abilities" added to the skill boosts? It'd be nice to know the full deal (aside from stuff like compulsions and blind spots which of course would be hidden)Your negotiation comes all at once. I appreciate the vote of confidence, but voting opens in an hour and a bit I think.
That would cover a potentially massive number of minor effects for some abilities, especially if I had to start covering synergistic abilities that activate from having several particular traits at once. It's a lot simpler for me to leave those things unwritten. In that case, if anyone makes a plan that accepts the first but not second demand, and asks for information and a shrine, I'll vote for it (on phone atm). We think it's a reward, therefore it's a reward. Now we just have to work to make sure everyone else recognizes that it is, in fact, a good thing.I agree about the second proposal, but I'll poi t out that we've just reached the point that Gaerig thinks that serving us is a blessing, not that our people do
Polyandry.Look guys, you don't just jump at the first and best husbando you find. Who knows if you get buyers remorse later on when it turns out he spends more time polishing his spear than he does attending us? I know it'll be possible to "divorce" Saiga later on, but do we really want to go through all that hassle?
Ahh that makes sense; I was underestimating how many such boosts there were; I guess depending on how many there are to keep track of, could you put any active ones in our character sheet? Unless I'm still underestimating them that shouldn't be many with the trait cap, and those would be relevant for when we need to decide what if any traits to get rid of (for example, I know for a fact that when we hit trait cap someonewill propose getting rid of spirit of the Sea because its "just skill points" )That would cover a potentially massive number of minor effects for some abilities, especially if I had to start covering synergistic abilities that activate from having several particular traits at once. I want to argue against that, but since I can't I will settle for pouting angrily.
This shit is hilarious. Basically Gaerig just wandered through his village drowning people and he just can't FIND her. SpoopySaiga Hunts
Survival rolled 10 vs 15
Saiga cannot find you in the sea despite being in Influence range (embarrassing); approaches your Holy Place instead!
...holy shit our Roils got swole. You suddenly whip the sea into a mad frenzy, going into tantrums and fury that the mortals would dare draw near the sphere, which is yours and yours alone! Even those upon the shore are badly battered or dead, and those who dared ride their boats out to see it are best not mentioning.
I think the main issue is that Gaerig is a powerful oracle, fair explorer, elemental wrath dealer and seductress, but we have no artisan to decorate our shrines, no warrior to protect us when guile fails.Look guys, you don't just jump at the first and best husbando you find. There are more fish in the ocean, and in our case that phrase could even prove literal!
Also that. Mother Earth and Mother Sea goddesses have a tendency to marry on their terms. It's not exclusive. Everyone ploughs the earth/waves.
I think we could just apply some common sense. Most of the traits and affinities are fairly obvious in what they buff.Ahh that makes sense; I was underestimating how many such boosts there were; I guess depending on how many there are to keep track of, could you put any active ones in our character sheet? Ah, that's fair. I suppose I can note whether or not a given trait specifically grants actions (not skill-granted) or improves actions.Ahh that makes sense; I was underestimating how many such boosts there were; I guess depending on how many there are to keep track of, could you put any active ones in our character sheet? That is part of the reason I track Legends of Gaerig. It's a countdown for various interactions before I put up bonus content relating to the thing in question, rewriting them as a sort of epic or grant narrative. The more interaction you guys go for, the more interludes and bonuses I write!Hmm, if we marry him it'd also establish courting, marriage customs, particularly amongst the influential(once Saiga gets the wedding his followers and ours will rise in prominence naturally as a result of blessings and not getting fucked).
So with my additional demands, the husband's family must see to the well being of the wife's comforts and build her a new home. He may must bring gifts to court the lady.
Incidentally

I have to wonder what the mortal narrative looks like.
1) Saiga's worshippers amongst the outcasts were driven out by the wrath of the sea
2) They pled to their guardian spirit Saiga for deliverance.
3) Saiga goes over, sees a sexy piece of ass and taps that. Enthusiastically.
4) Gaerig appears to be somewhat miffed, tells him not to come back without presents.
5) Saiga spends a year in his shrine, probably making the present.
6) Gaerig is mad! Where is her present?! She spirits through their fishermen and starts drowning them liberally.
7) Another year passes and a piece of the moon appears from the sea. Saiga's LATE! He took so damned long to get her gift that she went shopping on her own for one shiny one!
8) Those who come to see Gaerig's gift were punished by the wrathful sea for Saiga's delay. People drown all over, and despite Saiga's best efforts, even on his own ground, he cannot find her while people die.
9) Saiga shows up with his gift at last at her home. It's not as awesome as what Gaerig had found, but it suffices. The sea calms.
Considering the power typically assigned these figures, they're usually the ones doing the ploughing of everybody else.lso that. Mother Earth and Mother Sea goddesses have a tendency to marry on their terms. It's not exclusive. Everyone ploughs the earth/waves.
Well...when Gilgamesh was required to fuck Ishtar he said fuck no, you don't stick it in the crazy.Considering the power typically assigned these figures, they're usually the ones doing the ploughing of everybody else.
