Abandonment.

A sheet of glacial ice left behind in eons old retreat, whose waters flowed always away and here above the clouds never returned. A spirit that had been dying by inches for longer than whole imperial dynasties had ruled. The truth of Ending she held at her core was the inevitability of loss.

It was a weakness too. She was not like Zeqing, Ling Qi though. She could not stop them from leaving this place if they turned on their heels and left of their own will. Because they were her kin, and her story, her core was that they would always leave her.

But her second truth was a more insidious thing. Despair.

Sorry to doublepost but

[X] Allow Hanyi to do as she has said. (Risks of future changes to winter ecosystem, ???)

Been 2 hours

[X] Allow Hanyi to do as she has said. (Risks of future changes to winter ecosystem, ???)

Heard some strong arguments for this.

[X] Allow Hanyi to do as she has said. (Risks of future changes to winter ecosystem, ???)

Why would we stifle the dignified young lady on her path of growth? Let her make yearly kneecap breaking visits to her aunt. As a treat!

[X] Allow Hanyi to do as she has said. (Risks of future changes to winter ecosystem, ???)

Yeah, letting Hanyi slowly kill this spirit will probably be good in the long-run. Also, Hanyi seems to want to Bring Hope and Joy to the concept of Winter, this is her copying Ling Qi by going to the deep end. She'll be able to better define her concepts by clashing with this Spirit eroding away at her and taking her for all useful things discarding the rest.

[X] Allow Hanyi to do as she has said. (Risks of future changes to winter ecosystem, ???)

After what Ling Qi did to her mum, it's be pretty hypocritical to deny her this now. Go forth and explode your own Winter Spirit, Hanyi!

[X] Allow Hanyi to do as she has said. (Risks of future changes to winter ecosystem, ???)

Hanyi should have the same chance Ling Qi had, to change someone for the better.

Abandonment can become something less absolute, Despair might become Harano.

It'll be interesting to see.

But why would we opt for instability over stability. God knows we have enough on our plate? Like seriously.
I agree we already have the War to consider, the Wedding, the Ith, full recovery, our more direct neighbors with the ice prison and a lot more, and now we also want to add instability in the winter ecosystem to the list.
At a certain point, we might just take too much at once, and then we are in a lot of trouble.

While I don't know how long it would take to have effects the last time we ("killed/changed") a spirit, we had the Sect Elders there to keep it contained.
Snowblossom does not have any 4 realms, let alone 5 realms+, so if things here go wrong they can go terribly wrong.

This is not just about Hanyi this is also about the land we have to take care of with people that rely on LQ to keep the spirits clam and "non-harmful" to mortals.
LQ job is it to keep this area safe as she possibly can not to go out and cause instabilities just so her sis might get stronger (which is not even a given) and the spirit is pacified at the moment and agreed to the deal we made as such it is safe as long as we keep our word.

[X] Do not allow this, your sister should not risk herself on this spirit (Ensures winter ecosystem stability, ???)

"Blasted cold," he wheezed, shoulders hunching. "You think I do not know my value comes from what I do, what I make, the coin and honor I bring in? I'll be forgotten, my works appropriated by more ambitious men, my name sanded out of history, if I have any at all? Pah, I'll still have done those things!"
That's a really awesome sentiment from Bao Qian.

She understood the isolation of privation. Xuan Shi had let her see a glimpse of what it was to be alone even when you had a seat at the hearthfire. Zeqing had shown her how to be alone even as you strangled the life from the ones you embraced. Now, the Weeping Mother of Lonesome Streams showed her another facet of the truth of Isolation.

Ones own self could isolate just as effectively as anything external to you, the choices of others, material circumstances… if you chose not to be helped, chose despair, even when escape stood before you, no one's hand could ever reach you.
Ling Qi has a lot of understanding of Isolation from various different sources which is fitting given it's concept level.

"...Ugh, this is stupid. Its like all of Momma's sisters are miserable," Hanyi muttered.
It's a bit of a theme at this point.

[X] Allow Hanyi to do as she has said. (Risks of future changes to winter ecosystem, ???)

Let's see where this goes.

[X] Allow Hanyi to do as she has said. (Risks of future changes to winter ecosystem, ???)
in the interest of
Hanyi and her instincts, of the excitement and agency within the story, of creating a more 'ideal' snowblossom, of leaving the option open for more interactions and changes rather than sort of closing off this mountain and its spirit narratively.

perhaps i disregard the amount of things going on for LQ a little due to how the story feels like it is written - like occurrences tend to be handled one at a time, rather than all at once at set intervals and requiring attention of LQ to be divided leading to sacrifices made, or rather perhaps opportunity cost.
