Is Heizui about to discover new things about himself? :thonk:
I'll ship it. :V

It is funny how much more interest MoI is showing on this one contact with foreigners we have compared to Western Territories where entire place has fallen to heresy.

Do we actually know they do not care?

Between An supporting them initially for political reasons and Sun Shao being strong enough to take on the MoI and win, especiallly after Jiao left (but even before that, Sun Shao is not just a White, he is a particularly strong White), they may care and be frustrated because there is nothing they can do about that clusterfuck but contain it.

There is really no way to know what they know and how they feel about it, especially since they are an intelligence agency and we are outsiders, so its not like they'd tell us. This is one of the things they'd lie about to protect the integrity of the Empire.

I'll admit I initially like "confluence", but the Chinese term is "huìhé".

I also played a little trying to make a dual-language pun out of Norwegian samløp / Chinese san (something to do with water) + some other character, but I've looked at too many ideograms and gave up.

[X] Xin'an
Honestly, I just wanna see everyone's faces when they realize the Prism-Level puns we just unleashed with this. Maybe Renren will even groan about it!

In 1000 years no one is going to believe people from the Ling Lands where they come from, because all the towns sound like joke names someone made up on the spot.
I hope the Ling clan becomes famous in certain circles as being very Punny. The Clan's great guardian Spirit Beast is a Precious thing and all the projects we worked on will have double meanings.

As Xuan Shi once said, "Wordplay is an art all its own."

I think Ling Qi could wind up living long enough that things go the other way. Like, people who don't know better assume that they aren't puns, and make up 'original' jokes pointing out the puns of the name, assuming that obviously those distant ancestors couldn't have been punsters and were deadly serious and just bad at making names that couldn't be punned off of.

I think we do have to differentiate between our normal and appropriate puns like Xin'an, where the readings are both fitting and auspicious like veekie said, and Zhengui.

People raise eyebrows at Zhengui because all the readings are questionable. Naming our xuan wu "Precious" is already somewhat eyebrow raising. Having that pun as "real turtle" just makes it more so.

She does still have that hyper-fixated Genius vibe going on. I wouldn't be surprised if people thought it wasn't on purpose. There probably be a small subset of people who'd be considered conspiracy theorists or disrespectful who'd think "Hey that founder of ours has a great sense of humor!" in contrast to the red-faced elders going "OF COURSE NOT! Our matriarch was the Left-hand of the duchess! No confidant of Lady Cai Renxiang would be so crass as to make puns!"

However, I think that it's also the case that it kinda shows a love of the game? Like in a situation where she's been turned into barbeque, in which there are hundreds of people to examine any name she proposes, etc, etc... she's still suggesting puns, and trying to suggest ones that will slip by people's notice.

At this point there's a clear element of devotion to the art of punnery on show here. Nobody would blame Ling Qi for temporarily slipping away from puns in the heady aftermath of her triumph, and with all her struggles to regain mobility/etc ahead of her.

The top two town votes, are the same name just a different format.
Almost no one is voting for a treaty name.

Isn't that because the treaty name and the town name are explicitly going to be the same?

"I wonder, this place will need a name if it is a town?" Rostam mused. "There is a poetry to giving it the same name as the treaty, I think? Makes it… real."

"Hoh, a good proposal I think," Gan Guangli said brightly glancing around their own side.

lmao

:D good job fam, and thank you Yrs for all the work! Please enjoy your time off.

Can't wait to see how everyone reacts to this! Will we see a Sect PoV? Peaks PoV? Other ducal PoV?

And it's finally onto fief development arc ahhhhhh I know it's early but I hope we get to finally choose our little plot of Ling land.

There is a comission that's basically a reaction chapter. Burning Bright, Burning Swift, IIRC. It's right before the Slugging Moon, which is a Jiao and Xin reaction chapter.

I think @JowKeen came up with a Norse/Slavic translation? Mer Li Dad or something.

The WS translation and WS translation are supposed to combine to give a saying, IIRC. I'm hoping Yrs includes it. Gotta show off our new Domain ability's coolness to the masses!
